• "Broaden Our Access to Superior Mental Health Professionals"
Currently the State of Kansas limits the training and hiring of mental health case managers, attendant care workers, and crisis responders to the area mental health centers. These workers have little to no education or specific training about our special needs children and adults and are paid minimally; thus, turnover is extremely high and often creates regression in the mental health treatment process. Additionally, our family members do not have a strong, trusting bond with these revolving caregivers, who are therefore, limited in their ability to de-escalate a crisis situation, very often leading to police involvement and hospitalization screenings/stays. We need Medicaid to give private agencies equal opportunity to utilize their expertise with the SED, MR/DD, and SPMI population, and open the crisis, case management, and attendant care codes, especially now that budget cuts have greatly impacted what services are offered at mental health centers.

  • Wells Fargo and the 99% of Us!
Wells Fargo Bank just issued a notification that beginning June 2012, individual's checking accounts will be charged a monthly fee of $15.00 if the individual doesn't have at least three Wells Fargo products or an average balance of $7,500.00 in all their accounts. This fee is clearly focused on the 99% of the population who can least afford the charge.

  • Fracking is Bad for North Carolina
WAKE UP before it's Too Late. How many times have we been told something can be done safely, responsibly and beneficial to the people? Remember Bophal, India, Exon Valdez, and the deep water Gulf oil spill, the Chilean coal mine disaster, the Appalachian coal mine disaster, and too many, more to name. The corporate giants all said they could extract natural resources safely. They lied, we suffered. The health, livelihood and very culture of millions of people suffered. Are we fool enough to listen?

  • Stop media from making people feel like they need to be "perfect".
Models, actresses, actors, barbie dolls, G.I. Joe, musicians. They all put pressure on us to be these perfect little girls and boys. But really, what is "perfect"? Can anyone define "perfect"? I can't. If we can get enough people to sign this petition, maybe, just maybe, we can stop these things from being out there so much. Less photoshop, change the barbies, change the G.I. Joe. I'd love for you to sign this, it would mean a lot.

  • Block Transphobic Language
The New York Daily News is a newspaper that specializes in sensational stories. Readers can freely and anonymously publish their comments in response to articles, and will often freely use terms such as "tranny", "ladyboy", "shim", "shemale", to describe transpeople. While the NYDN editorial staff blocks the use of the "N" word as well as similar epithets in its comments section, they do not block the derogatory terms indicated above. Signing this petition will help the NYDN understand that this language is unacceptable to the transgender community.

  • Opposition to SB 0290
SB 290 that prohibits abortion in Indiana unless a physician determines that the abortion is necessary to save the life of a pregnant woman. This bill blatantly contradicts Roe v. Wade and was drafted as a test case for overturning the U.S. Supreme Court ruling. The bill states that any physician who knowingly performs an abortion will receive a C-felony.
