Arkansas currently has a lottery scholarship program. Applicants can receive funds to pay for college tuition in full. 40% of those who received the scholarship dropout. We should use at least 1/2 of the available funds for those who have finished college and are working in the state to help pay back student loans. If I had my loans covered I could and would spend more money in the local economy.

Our nation expresses its sympathy to the citizens of Syria who are suffering and witnessing murder and torture directed at them by Syria's President, Bashar al-Assad. But compassion will not stop the violence. There is another way without the military involvement that risks soldiers and civilians. We suggest a reward of at least $10,000,000 (that's 0.0000115 of the military part of the approved US Discretionary budget for FY 2012) for the safe delivery of Bashar al-Assad, President of Syria, to the International Court of Justice, for trial on charges of crimes against humanity. This offer means no military intervention; no one gets killed -- neither military nor civilian, captor or offendor. Justice prevails -- peacefully.

The Virginia Governor wants to put expensive toll fees everywhere in the Tidewater area! The people oppose this vehemently and prefer to place a state tax on gasoline by 4 cents per gallon! The tolls will ruin the Tidewater area economy!

Purdue University is graduating one of the greatest student athletes to ever call himself a Boilermaker. Much like Drew Brees and Bob Griese ,Robbie Hummel in his tenure, has lifted a program to national prominence. Hummel has never been accused in any scandal and even through tragic injury continued to be a leader and a role model on and off the court. We need to recognize his contribution to the the team, the sport and the University by retiring his jersey.

Most people have good moral values no matter what their religious beliefs is and most of us have the same concerns and want a fair chance to live a good life without unnecessary barriers and dangerous rhetoric being fed across our country. We need peace and love and togetherness not division.

A new bill in Arizona would require women who wish to have their contraception covered by their health insurance plans to prove to their employers that they are taking it to treat medical conditions. It will also make it legal for an employer to fire a woman for using birth control for non medical reasons. This insult to women has already passed in the House. If passed, it is a giant step back. What is this, the Middle Ages? And are men going to have to prove that they have a medical need for Viagra? Why is this the focus of our elected officials? Isn't the unemployment rate still at more than 8 percent?
