  • Vote No on the Don't Say Gay Bill
The Tennessee State General Assembly is considering House Bill 0229 called the "Don't Say Gay" bill. The bill would make it harder for LGBT teens to approach their teachers, and it would make it harder for teachers to help their students out when it comes to the issue of bullying. Gov. Haslem is against the bill, and so is the Speaker of the House. Thus, the members of the House Education Committee has a chance to stop this bill, and thus kill this bill in committee.

  • The TRUTH About Gas Prices and WHO Controls IT ALL
To bring attention to the Anti-Excessive Speculation Act of 2011. A critical bill currently before Congress created by Sen Bill Nelson [FL] and Co-sponosored by Sen Blumenthal, Richard [CT],Sen Rockefeller, John D., IV [WV], Sen Sanders, Bernard [VT]. Bill is known as S.1598. Why do two or three men need to make billions of dollars on a future price that WE THE PEOPLE will pay for gas...because we let them? Enough is enough, Gas futures are a piracy of THE PEOPLE. It reminds me of Enron. Those guys were getting ready to start trading on the weather when it all unraveled. This is not any different in my opinion. Our "one" voice is LOUD! We can make them do the right thing for the people! Also to sign Sen Bill Nelson's petition copy and paste the link below: http://www.capitolenews.com/mailings/nelson/022412_gas_comment.html

  • Support Underground Copper-Nickel Mining in Ely, MN
It's the year 2012. The permitting process for mining is both lengthy and exhaustive to mine for copper and nickel in Minnesota. The actual mining process takes place 3,000 to 4,000 feet underground not on the surface. Neither the State of Minnesota nor the residents of Ely, MN want to see their backyard destroyed but DO believe that in these modern times, we actually can mine unobtrusively and without damaging our precious environment. Ely, MN is suffering significantly with a declining ability to survive on tourism as the years and bad economy have chiseled away steadily at the population here. We need to do something and sell a product that everybody needs, that being nickel. It's is used in every thing from iPads to cellphones to stainless steel and the US currently imports all of it. Let Ely, MN contribute to its own sustainability and the economy of the United States in a meaningful, tangible way. Support the mining efforts for the underground mine south of Ely MN.

  • SENIOR COMMUNITY HOUSING
Many Seniors want to live in community housing that have income over $35K a year. If you make less than $35K a yr you still have to wait years to get a place. There is no Senior housing for middle class income. In Maui we have tried to get the city council to pass 2 such projects. They refuse and pass on huge developer projects. There are hundreds of middle class seniors coming to live in the islands. Some who live here are having to move to other states that have Senior Community Housing that serve and honor there elders. Even if I had millions I would want to live in community and have support and companionship. As an aging person I will need on support on the premises and nurse on call. CommunityHousing is best because the seniors help and support each other both physically and socially.

  • Rush Limbaugh Attacks Author McMillan
Rush Limbaugh continues his war on women, conducting a personal attack on critically acclaimed author Tracie McMillan, calling her a "babe," and "authorette," and being dismissive of her in-depth reporting of the American food industry. He can't seem to control himself on-air, so it is time for him to go!

  • Stop penalizing teachers
Did you know that when teachers retire they are penalized for having worked elsewhere? Did you know that their social security check is docked because of their contributions to the teacher pension system? They call this double-dipping. I call it punishment. How can we expect to attract scientists, computer engineers, mathematicians when teachers -- in addition to earning a pitiful salary -- will lose part of the social security benefits they had previously earned?

  • Stop Cruel Dog-deer hunting in SC
This petition is to stop hunters from using dogs to hunt deer. These dogs are sevely mistreated and neglected by these hunters. Most dogs are let go at the end of hunting season becuase the owners do not want to feed them, hunters say its more expensive to feed them than it is just to buy new ones every year. Therefore these dogs wind up at high kill shelters and on the streets left to die.

  • Voter suppression laws
I am concerned that with about 37 states passing laws requiring Voter IDs coupled with other legislation relating to absentee voting, and early registration restrictions that it is a smoke screen to prevent citizens from exercising their constitutional right to VOTE. These laws will undoubtedly affect the rights of minorities, the elderly and students of age from voting. There is little evidence that "voter fraud" that these laws are alleged to prevent even exists. We would like the Justice department to investigate these voter suppression laws that they are.
