• Feds MUST investigate Penn State abuse case
Penn State has managed to successfully cover up the sexual abuse and exploitation of children for decades. The number of victims very well could be higher than the number who have come forward. The university has announced it will conduct an internal investigation of the matter which is sure to continue with its biased approach. In addition, former defensive coordinator, Jerry Sandusky, has been released from prison on a measly $100,000 bail--an amount much lower than the $500,000 requested by the Attorney General's office. A request for him to wear a leg monitor was also denied by the judge who also happens to be a former volunteer at Second Mile. Sandusky is only set to pay the $100,000 bail if he does not show up to his court date. Clearly, this case needs to be investigated by an UNBIASED organization--the Federal Government. The voices of the victims were once muted by violence and filth. Please do not ignore the victims' cries.

  • Stop Police Violence and Genocide in our Community
The Petition's focus is the Violence and Brutality visited on Hispanic and African American's by Police Officers. In California, the Police are protected by the Police Officers Bill of Rights. There are no rights afforded the victims, most of whom die at the hands of Police Officers. This Petition calls on our elected officials to intervene on behalf of the Murdered victims of Police Actions and those who are at risk of being murdered.

  • Limit Corruption & Set Term Limits
Senators & Congressmen spend much of their lives in office, allowing them to be bought and sold by big money and special interests groups. Like the President, Congress should be subject to term limits to limit the possibility of corruption.

  • No US Troops to Australia
Please petition your congressional representatives and the president to demand that U.S. troops being removed from Iraq be returned home to bases here in the U.S. where it will benefit Americans. Wasting huge sums of money on a new base in Australia is an idiotic move.

  • (Sustainable) Food for Thought at SFU
We have been provided with a unique opportunity to offer comment and input in the process leading up to SFU's food services contract request for proposals. Whether the university chooses to renew with our current food services provider or go with another provider, this is our chance to let them know that we would like to see more sustainably, ethically and locally sourced foods offered on campus with zero waste dining options prevailing over our current take-out and throw-away culture.

  • Good Dads Rights
When dads are asked to pay child support the percentage is unfair ; 17 percent is a arbitrary percentage that is unfair for hard working dads who are present in their children's life. Child Support should be individualized and based on a Dads financial ability, a child's necessity and needs, not a mothers wants. Secondly there should be a set visitation calendar which should be 3 days a week and every other weekend, half of the summer months, and entire alternate holidays. I am asking for support for all the good Dads that effected by unfair laws created arbitrarily and limited visitation with their children. Good Dads should be rewarded, not penalized for being positive influence in their children's lives.

  • AARP: Poll your members before you speak for us
I'm insulted that the AARP did not ask me, an 83-year-old member, what I thought about changes to Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid as part of any deficit reduction plan that the Supercommittee is charged with providing to Congress by November 23. Actually, I support responsible reform of these entitlements as a vital component of revenue increases. This has also been the position of the major groups that have looked into and made recommendations for deficit reduction (i.e., Rivlin-Dominici; Simpson-Bowles).

  • We MUST save our drinking water
Four bills introduced to the Michigan House on Nov. 3, 2011 (House Bills 5149-5151 and 4736) must be passed to protect the largest source of above-ground freshwater in the world, the Great Lakes and their feeder water system inside the State of Michigan, from use by hydraulic fracturing companies seeking to drill for natural gas in Michigan shale. A moratorium must delay drilling until impact studies are completed by the EPA and Michigan's Department of Natural Resources and Department of Environmental Quality.

  • Wayne Patterson: Step Down from the Warwick School Board
Wayne Patterson, was charged with Driving While Intoxicated on October 15th, 2011. The school board has strict policies for students on reckless driving and alcohol use. It's important for students to see that DWI is not acceptable behavior for them, or our elected officials. Mr. Patterson needs to set a good example and step down as a school board member.

  • Eisenstein: Apologize
Purdue University Calumet is a safe haven for scholarly debate and academic curiosity. However, when students are faced with harassment within the classroom from the professors that are meant to stimulate intellectual dialogue, our education takes a toll. Professor Maurice Eisenstein crossed the line when he began making derogatory comments in the classroom, as well as mentioning students and co-workers by name in a public forum on Facebook. We're calling on him to take it all back, by simply apologizing to his students and co-workers.
