There is no need for the Electoral College anymore. With the age of electronics, this an outdated program and should be put aside. As we review the Electoral College, it was unintended for the old western states, because of the distant to for the settlers to vote and to have their votes counted. Let's be a true democracy, "One man, One vote." Let's repeal this action, cause now the Electoral College, an be use for misuse.

Athens City Schools announced that they are closing Chauncey Elementary at the end of the school year. Thier reasons is for budgets cuts. I am encouraging all of the Chauncey alumni or anyone else that does not want to see this school close to sign this petition.

The Pennsylvania state police are the primary and often the sole law enforcement agency avalible to respond to many small communities and most rural areas of the state. Even then many residents must wait 30 minutes for a trooper to arrive at their location in an emergeny. In many areas small towns with only one officer must call for back up from state police. The protection of citizens is a basic government responsibility. Currently the state is propsing to cut the state police by 10% or fire 500 troopers. This will result in large areas of the state being unpoliced for long periods each day.

The National Defense Authorization Act of 2012 aims at once again, curbing terrorism, but has very disturbing provisions which would enable everyday American citizens who protest, for example, Greenpeace, or the Occupy movements, to be arrested and held INDEFINITELY and WITHOUT TRIAL in a domestic prison OR a prison outside the U.S. Tell Congress and our President NOT to allow this bill to become law.

After investigating the nature of the late November NATO/Afghan attack upon an unmarked Pakistani military outpost, the United States must accept culpability for egregious errors that resulted in the death of 24 soldiers among many more who were injured. While Pakistan has not been the partner that America has desired, these soldiers' lives are as valuable as any other. President Obama should apologize to Pakistan and those officers who are culpable for this tragedy should be held to account.

Members of congress are able to make large profits in the stock market. The average american would get prison time, the members of congress get rich. Not to mention the possible security issues that may come up, because a congress person is thinking about their interest, not the interests of the U.S.A.

Governor Paul LePage is trying to push a bill through the Maine State Legislature that would slash the DHHS budget by $220 million, leaving 65,000 low-income and disabled Mainers with no health insurance, and decimating programs and services that work. Mainers have been fighting these cuts loud and strong, and it is having an impact. But we need to keep up the pressure. By signing this petition, you are letting your representatives know that these cuts are just not acceptable. In Maine, we believe in taking care of each other, and we believe that when people have access to needed healthcare services it keeps our state strong.

Kayak, rather than standing up to hatred, promoted it when it heeded the call of an activist group to stop advertising on the show All-American Muslim because "the show profiles only Muslims that appear to be ordinary folks." It's not too late for Kayak to reverse its actions and take a stand against hatred.
