• Tell House Democrats: Don't side with Big Cable
A handful of House Democrats are joining up with Big Cable lobbyists to SHUT DOWN our efforts to restore Net Neutrality. We need to tell them they should be on our side -- not Comcast or Verizon's. In 2017, the Trump Administration got rid of the Net Neutrality protections that stop Comcast and Verizon from controlling what we can see or do online. But earlier this year, we successfully fought back -- passing the Save the Internet Act through the House of Representatives. The Save the Internet Act would reverse the Trump FCC’s decision and restore the protections against blocking, throttling, or charging special fees to access the websites we visit every day. Plus, it’ll let the FCC investigate and punish companies that break those rules -- like when Verizon throttled the Santa Clara Fire department during its wildfire response. Earlier this year, activists like you flooded the House with calls and emails -- and we got all 235 members of the Democratic caucus to pass the Save The Internet Act. Now, Big Cable lobbyists are trying to kill our efforts to restore Net Neutrality. They’re circulating a letter in the House -- with about 40 Democratic members signed on -- encouraging House leaders to abandon the Save the Internet Act in favor of a watered-down ‘bipartisan working group’ on Net Neutrality. The Save the Internet Act is already a bipartisan bill - 86% of Americans and 77% of Republicans support restoring FULL Net Neutrality protections. A new group, packed with Big Cable-friendly lawmakers, meant to water down Net Neutrality can’t represent that consensus. That’s why it’s critical to get every Democratic House member off this letter. There’s no time to waste, and your voice can make a difference. Tell the House majority to stand up for the Open Internet today.

  • Don't punish students protesting neo-Nazis -- support the right to protest.
Texas lawmakers have stoked a nationwide controversy with a new attack on students’ rights to protest racist extremism on their campus. Over the past few years, far-right campus speakers like open neo-Nazi Richard Spencer have been met with massive student protests -- with some even succeeding in getting the invitations to speak rescinded. But if this bill had been in place back then, many students who spoke out -- and their schools -- would be subjected to mandatory, harsh disciplinary sanctions. And, those penalties would apply even for protesting against dangerous, racist extremists like Richard Spencer. This bill would also ban schools from taking positions on issues of public concern -- even issues like campus sexual assault, which directly affect their students. College students should get to hear from diverse points of view -- but they also deserve every right to protest neo-Nazis on campus. This new policy is a direct attack on students’ rights to advocate for themselves -- and if you don't want it coming to your state, we need a NATIONWIDE outcry to stop it. Americans from across the country have already spoken out against this attack on free speech, and successfully got SB 18 sent back for revision. I need your help to protect the right to protest -- join me in telling Texas lawmakers to kill these bad, anti-free speech proposals for good.

  • Help me bring my daughter home
My story is sort of a long one. In 2014, my husband and I lost custody of our 4 children AFTER Athens County Children Services fabricated their story and their stories didn't match up in court. At that point in time, my husband, to whom I wasn't married at the time, was between jobs working minimum wage and I had never had a job before. We have since changed our life. In April of 2018, my husband and I got married (we have been together since 2003) and he now works 2 jobs plus I work full time, at home, and I've had my job over a year. When we got married in April, we started talking about having another baby; we thought that since we changed our life around, it would be amazing to finally move forward and be able to raise a family. Then, on March 21st, 2019 I was transported an hour and a half away to Riverside hospital in Columbus to have a C-Section done, which was my first C-section and I was terrified because my preeclampsia had gotten worse and my blood pressure would not decrease. On the morning of March 22nd, 2019, at approximately 4:48 am, Bryleigh Louise was born weighing 6lbs 8.3oz. For 3 days I took care of her in the hospital: Feedings, diaper changes, and just holding her. On the morning of March 25th, 2019, I had gotten my discharge papers and was waiting on my daughter to get discharged, the nurse came in and got her and said it was for one last weight check. I didn't know that would be the last time I would hold her in my arms. I received a call on the hospital room phone from Athens County Children Services stating they had emergency custody of my daughter. When asked the reason, she stated it was our past history. I went to court the next day for the shelter hearing. The judge continued the emergency custody, that's all he discussed, he never said anything about visitations AND he never said there was no visitation. I called ACCS when I got home to set up visitation. The lady I spoke to said there won't be any visitation because since they're going for permanent custody, it is not mandatory for them to let me see her. In court documents that my lawyer pointed out to me, they are SUPPOSED to be giving me visitation. It is now May 22nd, 2019, Bryleigh is 2 months old now and I've not seen her since March 25th, 2019. Accs should investigate my home and our jobs and give us a chance to raise our daughter. Something seriously needs to be done about ACCS, they need investigated. They've not only ripped my life apart and taken my daughter at a crucial time where she needs both of her parents, but they have done the same to others and their families. It is too late to speak up for some families, but I want my voice heard so it stops CPA from destroying the families that they are trying to take control of. I have tried reaching out to ABC6 On Your Side about two months ago, but never got a response, so the next best thing is to start this petition in hopes of getting justice. Please help me bring my daughter home!

  • Waive the DOB Clause for Hurricane Sandy Victims Who Are SBA Borrowers
Help recovering storm victims. Many families in NY, NJ + other states are adversely affected by the SBA DOB clause which counts SBA loans taken out at the time of the disaster against eligibility for grants. Sandy victims are the only hurricane victims not exempt from this duplicative formula. This is an issue that affects ordinary citizens in my community and has ended in clawbacks, foreclosure, displacement and storm related debt that is crippling for many. Help us recover.

  • Declare a Climate Emergency in Iowa
We demand for an emergency to be declared on climate change because we deserve a future. Scientists have told us time and time again that we need to act on climate change. But we haven’t acted, and now we have 11 years until it’s irreversible. We need to declare emergencies on climate change so our government will take the proper steps to reversing and stopping climate change. In Iowa we’ve experienced horrible flooding, polar vortexes, and record temperatures. This is an issue that has affected Iowa so much, yet no body is doing anything about it. Sign and share this petition to show our politicians we won’t stand for inaction any longer!

  • This is not about abortion: Tell governors to stand firm against the attack on a woman's right to...
Following on the heels of Georgia, Alabama just passed the nation’s most restrictive reproductive healthcare bill that, if allowed to go forward by the courts, would impose criminal penalties on any doctor who performs an abortion, even in the cases of rape and incest. We know the lifesaving importance of access to reproductive healthcare for women, and we cannot even begin to imagine the horror of a high schooler who has been raped learning that terminating her pregnancy is a criminal action. Despite these horrors, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey immediately signed the bill into law. Across the land, other states like Missouri and Louisiana are considering bills designed to provoke the reversal of Roe versus Wade, which protects a women's right to choose under the U.S. Constitution. Ultimately, it's up to governors to sign them into law. Signing such anti-choice laws signals a governor's active participation in the war on women that wants to take away our bodily autonomy and our ability to make our own family planning decisions. Make no mistake, this war on mothers (most women who have abortions are already moms) and women is not about reducing abortions. If the goal of those who are passing such severely restrictive laws was to avoid abortion, then they'd be passing access to free birth control, which is proven to lower abortion rates, not setting lifetime imprisonment laws for doctors who help women in need. What's really happening is a direct attack on women and moms having bodily autonomy, economic freedom, and sovereignty in our lives.
