• Shut down the Trump administration's concentration camps
We demand the release of all detainees of the Trump administration’s concentration camps immediately We demand that ICE and CBP should receive NO MORE MONEY and be DEFUNDED. Congress must not give a single additional dollar to agencies who continue to harass and terrorize immigrants and people of color. Are we so unwilling to learn from history? The solution is humanity, not more concentration camps. We’re demanding children be reunited with their families immediately and every individual who arrives at our border seeking asylum to be allowed a fair chance at applying for protected status. But ICE, CBP, and the Trump administration are busy running a disinformation and propaganda campaign to cover up their many crimes and abuses against undocumented people and immigrants. We must take action and fight back. Enough is enough—add your name today to demand the release of all immigrant detainees and the defunding of ICE and CBP.

  • Save our Spanish Dual Language Program
I am a student at John J. Pershing. I am a 7th grader which is about to be separated from my Dual Language program. We had this program for 2 years and it is important to my classmates in 709 because it helps them learn English. This program should continue because it helps the students that don't know English learn English better. It also helps students that know English well to also learn Spanish.

  • Educators in Support of the Governor's Immigrant Defense Fund
There are over 5 million children in the United States with at least one undocumented parent. Currently there are over 5,100 active deportation cases across the state of Oregon and more than 71,000 Oregon children are at risk of losing a parent to deportation. This forced separation has enormous consequences for our students, their families and our education communities. The 71,000 Oregon children and youth living under the threat of being forcibly removed from a loving and capable parent experience enormous education disparities. These young people experience high levels of anxiety and depression, which effects their ability to participate in academic activities. Additionally, the very legitimate fear of being stopped by ICE and detained in the Northwest Detention Center in Tacoma keeps many parents from being able to actively engage with the school community. Children and youth who are at risk of losing a parent are less likely to be able to participate in after-school activities or supplemental academic support, lowering their academic success rates and their over-all satisfaction with their education experience. These kids are also disproportionately represented in chronic absenteeism and following the forced removal of a parent, are ten times more likely to drop out than their peers. Educators from all around the state can describe the horrible impact of forced removal on their students and their school communities. Ten-year-old students being sent to school with their passport to prove they are citizens. Six-year-old children defending themselves in court with no attorney. Children arriving home after school only to find the house empty and learning their parents will never return. These are not stories happening in other countries, or only on the southern border. They happen in Oregon every day. Educators stand against the senseless destruction of loving families. We stand against Oregon children and youth being caught in the crosshairs of federal policy. We stand for an Oregon where every child is valued and safe, free to pursue their education and future free from the violence of family separation. We urge our state leaders to vote yes for the Immigrant Defense Fund.

  • Tell the Sheriffs: Say NO to hate groups
The National Sheriffs Association has been working with a white nationalist hate group called "FAIR," and it shows. Sheriffs nationwide have adopted a despicable immigration narrative and promoted an unprecedented expansion of deportation agreements that "deputize" sheriffs to carry out Trump's anti-immigrant agenda. Just last week, the National Sheriffs Association honored FAIR's go-to Sheriff in Florida, Bob Gualtieri of Pinellas County. It's time to expose the hate groups behind this agenda, and demand that sheriffs step away from them now.

  • Get ATVs Street Legalized In New York State
There has been a lot of illegal ATV street riding lately, I think this would help solve some of the problems. A dirtbike can get legalized with the proper equipment why shouldn’t something safer be allowed on the roadways of New York.

  • Remove all property posts from Craigslist
Fraudulent property posts on Craigslist effect homeowners, renters and buyers looking for new homes, real estate agents, and sometimes even neighbors or other businesses. Fraudulent posts take a photo and some information from a real property and advertise them as something they are not. Example: A home that is for sale is being advertised on craigslist for rent. When this add is responded to people are being told to drive over to the property and knock on the door. How does this affect each party? HOMEOWNERS: This causes the homeowner to be uncomfortable in their own home not knowing if they should open the door. The homeowner also now has to deal with being harassed by people in their driveways and knocking on their door at any time of day/night. RENTERS/BUYERS: Instead of finding real information, these people looking for a new place to live are mislead - are influenced to drive around wasting their time and money. Renters/buyers are now left with an uncomfortable feeling after knocking on a door that they were not meant to. This puts renters/buyers in an awkward situation at the door as well as having their time wasted and their search for a new home prolonged. REAL ESTATE AGENTS: This affects agents in many ways, they now have to spend ample amounts of time trying to have fraudulent posts removed. They need to make their clients aware that people may knock on their door which can be an awkward situation and could potentially even lose them their listing costing them time and money. Agents need to change their advertising and sometimes, even spend more time and money creating new advertisements so that the renters/buyers who were unknowingly steered in the wrong direction do not knock on the homeowners' doors. OTHER BUSINESSES/NEIGHBORS: This can affect other businesses/neighbors as well. Many of the responses from these fraudulent posts tell the unsuspecting renters/buyers to park at a neighbors house or a business next door. This now interferes with the other business/neighbors property, they now have to deal with unknowing loitering. OTHER EFFECTS: This can also be a matter of personal safety for renters/buyers looking for a new property. Some vacant homes for sale can be posted on craigslist for rent. The response from this fraudulent post can sometimes be telling the renter/buyer to show up to the property, that the property is unlocked or telling them where to find a key. This can be very dangerous to renters/buyers as they can show up to a vacant property and can be harmed or kidnapped (this is a theory as well have heard stories, we have no direct evidence of this example). Please help to remove all PROPERTY posts from craigslist for the safety, well being, and peace of mind for all parties who are involved.
