• China's Dog Meat Festival
I'm starting this petition because it isn't right to eat dogs. In my opinion, dogs should be pets; they do nothing but show love.

  • Impeachment Hearings Now
No one is above the law- not even the President of the United States. The President was not charged with obstruction because the special counsel followed DOJ policy and didn't want to "place burdens on the President's capacity to govern". But he also couldn't clear Trump completely because "the facts and the applicable legal standards" made it impossible to state that Trump "clearly did not commit obstruction of justice." In fact, he laid out ten specific incidents that on the face of it appear to be clear obstruction. It is now the duty of Congress to thoroughly investigate this President.

  • Keep Tussey Mountain School District's School Resource Officer
Beginning next school year, the Tussey Mountain School District Board of Education must decide whether or not to financially fund the position of SRO. Previously, the funding for our SRO has come from grants that have been applied for by the Saxton Borough; however, the grant funding through Saxton Borough will cease at the conclusion of this school year. Therefore, moving forward, this position must be funded by TMSD. The TMSB committee that will recommend whether or not to fund our district's SRO will hold two public meetings on Monday, April 22, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. Members of the community will be given the opportunity to speak and express their concerns. Please sign our petition and attend one or both meetings to show your support in favor of hiring our SRO in order to maintain student safety as our number one priority.

  • CHANGE the NAME of Jefferson Davis Hwy in Stafford County, VA
As I drive south through Stafford County on I-95, just before the Garrisonville Road exit, I always see the huge sign that says “To Jefferson Davis Highway” and it just rattles me. What a way to welcome folks to the county. Why do we still have a primary highway in Stafford County that honors a racist traitor who led the fight to take up arms against our nation, in order to preserve the savage system of slavery? We still live with the terrible legacy of slavery, the ruthless and once-legal system of terror that represents America’s greatest shame. I was in Charlottesville on Aug. 12, 2017, peacefully protesting against the Neo-Nazis and the Unite the Right Rally. I experienced the hate personally and it needs to stop now. We live in a post-Charlottesville time. And the vast majority of Stafford County, VA, residents no longer want to honor the Confederacy atrocity or the racist legacy of Jefferson Davis. Change the name of the highway now!

  • Increase Building Standards of Chemical Storage Plants
After the ITC storage plant fire, the areas around the fire were affected by water and air pollution. This disaster could have been prevented by having stricter regulations on the building methods and design of the storage tanks used. Many of these plants are located all around Houston and frequently catch fire or spill contents into the environment. These chemicals leak into the water systems and can end up in the oceans, affecting a wide range of species and ecosystems.

  • Demand BlackRock, Vanguard, and Fidelity use their power to fight climate change
Major fund managers like BlackRock have huge power over the biggest polluters, but a terrible track record of holding these companies accountable. Some fund managers claim that they’ll use their power to ensure that companies act responsibly on climate, but year after year vote down climate shareholder resolutions and vote to re-elect business-as-usual directors to fossil fuel company boards. It’s time they walk the talk. In a few weeks, the boards of massive energy producers and consumers like ExxonMobil, Ford, Duke Energy, Amazon, Chevron, and General Motors face their shareholders each year at their annual meetings. This year the companies have a choice to make: Will they take steps to combat climate change and set the stage for others to do the same? Or will they keep us on the path towards climate catastrophe? The incredible power of fund managers like BlackRock comes from us, millions of Americans who entrust these companies with our retirement savings. They invest our money by buying shares of the biggest corporations in the world. Those shares give them voting power at those corporation’s annual shareholder meetings, which they are supposed to use on behalf of our long-term interests. That’s why it’s time they all hear from all of us. In May and June, shareholders in big companies like Exxon and Amazon will vote on resolutions from shareholders that demand concrete action on climate change and on who should represent shareholders in the corporate boardroom. The resolutions call on top oil producers, electric utilities, carmakers, and Wall Street firms to: - Disclose political spending and lobbying, often used to fuel climate denial and obstruction - Invest in the transition to renewable energy and fossil fuel reduction - Take concrete steps to understand and mitigate against the effects of climate change - Ensure that powerful CEOs are being held accountable for all of the above Fund managers will be casting their votes in the next couple of weeks so we need to get the message to them right now. Please join us in calling on fund managers like BlackRock, Vanguard, and Fidelity to hold fossil fuel company leaders accountable and vote for the 2019 slate of smart-on-climate resolutions, now.

  • Mayo and Northern Light Merger
The merger between Mayo Regional Hospital and Northern Lights (EMMC) will be put to the vote this month. With $9M in debt with no letup in sight due to healthcare laws and practices, we may be strapped with an enormous tax bill and no hospital in the not-too-distant future. We all know what it's like to lose a mill, and losing the hospital will have an even bigger impact on our community and local economy. Doctors and families will leave, jobs will be lost, property values will drop, and our surrounding businesses will suffer. Taxes will increase and our local economy will take a big hit. Voting yes means Northern Light will assume our debt, keep our hospital open and improve healthcare services to members of our community. For the sake of our collective health, please vote for the merger and include your name to our list.

  • Special Board Meeting Request
The HOA board has failed to provide financial documents in a timely manner and has acted in a threatening manner to deny community members answers to reasonable questions. The HOA board has failed to meet contractual obligations of maintaining the gates. Votes and other issues have been mishandled by both the HOA board and the management company, which is owned and operated by a fellow community member who has an obvious dual relationship and conflict of interest.

  • Protect Rep Ilhan Omar
Niemoller told us how we need to stand up against hate. "When they came for...and when they came for me there was nobody left to speak out" We need to speak out for immigrants and minorities including Ilhan Omar when Trump or others spread hate and incite violence.

  • Keep Hunting on the Weekends East Hampton Town
There is a petition going around seeking the closing of hunting on the week ends in the Town of East Hampton, locations from Montauk through Wainscott. This petition is stating that we want to keep hunting open on the weekends because there are many trails to hike that are not hunting grounds and there are many people who do not have the opportunity to hunt on the weekends because of their 9-5 jobs during the week. This is how some people save money and feed their families for the entire year. This isn't just a sport that will be lost to some people, this is a real life predicament for people who genuinely use hunting to save money, feed their families, and help feed other families.
