Family supportMy husband(Gary Hurley 208595)is incarcerated in Tennessee. I haven't been able to visit him in a year because he is 400 miles away from me. This has been devastating to me because my father and other family members recently passed away. To see my husband (of 37 yrs.) would help us both. Other family members also would love to visit with him. Please consider the benefits for families and society as a whole by lessening the distance between the incarcerated and their families whenever possible.57 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stella Hurley

Time to end U.S. warsIn order to work toward world cooperation and invest in human needs to solve pressing problems like climate change and humanitarian crises, it's time to commit to ending U.S. wars. Since 2001, the war authorization has been used for military endeavors in dozens of countries, in the Middle East, Africa, Central and South Asia. After over 17 years of war and trillions of dollars spent, it's time to end the Forever War by repealing the 2001 Authorization for Use of Military Force and holding the perpetrators of war crimes accountable.513 of 600 SignaturesCreated by Iram Ali

Save The Wolves! The Trump administration recently announced its plan to remove federal Endangered Species Act protections from gray wolves in the lower-48 states. This is a decision based purely on politics – not science. While wolves may be rebounding in the Great Lakes Region, they are not recovered in the Pacific Northwest, and they remain absent from the southern Rocky Mountains. Removing protections nationwide from wolves will cause irreparable harm to the slowly recovering populations in Oregon, Washington, and California; and will effectively prevent the eventual recovery of the species in states like Colorado and Utah. The Western Environmental Law Center is a nonprofit, public-interest environmental law firm and our expert attorneys will use the full power of the law to retain the protections gray wolves need to recover across the American West.691 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Michelle Loth, Western Environmental Law Center

Gov. Pritzker: Illinois Wants a Full and Public Review of Child Deaths Where ILDCFS was InvolvedAs a society, we have a responsibility to protect our children. To do this we pay taxes to ensure safeguards are in place at a state level. Those safeguards are failing and children are dying. Illinois deserves an explanation and our children deserve our advocacy.27 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Brandon Fuhr

Tell Mercy Allen Medical Center President: Don’t Take Money Away from Hardworking Nurses Who Care...The nurses at Mercy Allen Medical Center work around the clock caring for patients each day. Nursing is an emotional and physically demanding profession – the toll the job takes on the average nurse is indescribable, but nurses make that sacrifice because of their unwavering commitment to patient care. Mercy Allen Medical Center has made it clear that this commitment to patients is not to be rewarded. In fact, Mercy Allen moved away from an already low-wage proposal, wanting to instead pay nurses an even lower wage in return for their commitment to the community. The move has the Ohio Nurses Association pointing to the legality of such a move, and therefore the Ohio Nurses Association has filed an Unfair Labor Practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board against the Medical Center. Paying nurses a fair wage helps keep good nurses at the bedside, caring for the Oberlin community. Nurse turnover is expensive to the medical center, interferes with the care continuum and decreases employee morale. The Medical Center passed a last, best and final offer to the nurses, of which the nurses overwhelmingly voted down. The nurses have also voted to authorize a strike notice if the Medical Center continues to belittle the nurses’ worth. Join us in telling Mercy Allen Medical Center President, Charlotte Wray, that the nurses deserve better. Pass a fair proposal that shows the Medical Center’s appreciation of the nurses’ commitment to patient care. About the ONA Nurses at Mercy Allen Medical Center: Contract negotiations, which affect 30 highly-skilled registered nurses, began February 14th. In an attempt to reach a fair and reasonable contract, the ONA nurses agreed to more negotiation dates and a contract extension from March 31st to April 30, 2019.414 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Molly Homan

IMPEACH ILLEGITIMATE PRESIDENT TRUMPWhile we all have priorities that supersede removing Trump from office, like Health Care, Minimum Wage, Climate Change, Income Disparity etc, we cannot pass these programs as long as Trump occupies the White House and the intransigent, sycophantic Republicans control the Senate. Send a message to Speaker Pelosi and sign this petition!157 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Duane Daum

Honolulu City Council: Don't Squeeze Locals Out of HousingMay 8 the Honolulu City Council will take a final vote on Bill 85 to enforce zoning laws and shut down illegal vacation rentals. They will also take a final vote on Bill 89 which has the same enforcement measures but also gives out permits to a set percentage of the houses in each development district to do vacation rentals in a home with a home owner tax exemption. Those who win the lottery and get the permits will get first dibs on renewing every two years, creating a priveleged group who will benefit financially while the property values and quality of life of their neighbors goes down. We need proven enforcement first with Bill 85 before considering additional permits in residential zones. Please comment on the form. WHERE THEY STAND -- CALL THEM OUT! Yes! Let Taiwan participate in the 2019 World Health Assembly (WHA)As stipulated in the Constitution of the World Health Organization, “The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.” Furthermore, the UN General Assembly Resolution A/RES/70/1 stated, “As we embark on this great collective journey [toward the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development], we pledge that no one will be left behind.” While Taiwan was not invited to attend the World Health Assembly either in 2017 or 2018 as an Observer, it has sought to participate in technical meetings, mechanisms, and activities of the WHA and World Health Organization for many years. To this end, Taiwan has won the understanding and support of many nations, which have taken concrete action backing Taiwan. We will continue our effort to ensure the health and wellbeing of the 23 million people of Taiwan as well as of the whole human race. Taiwan’s participation can help WHO to establish a sound global health system. In recent years, Taiwan has successfully transformed its role on the international stage from aid recipient to assistance provider. It has established a comprehensive disease prevention system and organized numerous training workshops aimed at building capacity to prevent diseases in the Asia-Pacific and Southeast Asia, thereby facilitating collective efforts to strengthen global health security. Meanwhile, Taiwan needs the WHO to protect the health of its own people as well as those in the region and the entire world. Through its participation in the WHA and the WHO, it could share its experience with other countries, make timely reporting and acquire information on diseases, and play a constructive role in global health protection. This would create a win-win scenario for Taiwan, the WHO, and the world community. In the future, Taiwan will continue to seek participation in this year’s 72nd WHA as well as WHO technical meetings, mechanisms, and activities. This will help ensure the complete early realization of WHO’s vision of health as a human right. 64 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Catherine Lai
