We want a safe place to skate in an environment that is conducive to children teens and adults. An environment for beginners to learn and pros to shred and share their knowledge.

There has been a ton of misinformation being posted by residents that oppose the YMCA. Most of the residents are from New Market Township but this affects all of us in Scott County equally. The opposition would like everyone to believe that the YMCA has no supporters which is totally untrue. Father’s day celebrates fathers all around the world, but there are many men who may feel left out on the day. They may have experienced the death of a baby or babies, or even of adult children. They may have struggled to conceive or experienced a miscarriage or stillbirth. For them, the day may bring sad feelings—feelings of isolation, loneliness, unworthiness, and pain. It is to help heal hearts of grieving fathers.

As a taxpayer of Hempstead, I am tired of paying high school taxes for a failing school district. The Hempstead School District has been failing its students for decades...a 37% graduation is malfeasance. This is due to fiscal mismanagement, and lack of accountability. Let's stop this cycle of failure. Our children deserve better!

Many immigrant children living in the United States are or were under the protection of DACA, but are now in the midst of trying to be deported. Many and most of these children and teenagers were brought to the United States as young toddlers or infants. If they were to get deported, this would mean sending them to a place they cannot call home; a place where they have never been, do not know the language of, and may not feel safe in. Protecting DACA would mean protecting these lives.

Robust primaries are the backbone of our democracy. In fact, Beto O’Rourke, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Ayanna Pressley, and I all challenged sitting Democrats – and we would have never made it to Congress if the DCCC’s current blackballing rule had been in place when we ran. The DCCC's unprecedented, tone-deaf grab of power is a slap in the face of Democratic voters across the nation. Voters are sick of the status quo holding on to power and stifling new voices. They are sick of D.C. politicians who care more about holding on to power than a true competition of ideas. While I respect the difficult job that DCCC Chairwoman Cheri Bustos has, and want to keep a Democratic majority in the House in 2020, stifling democratic debate and punishing challengers is the wrong way to go about it. Right now, for instance, progressive Democrat Marie Newman—a strong voice for women's rights, the environment, and health care—is trying to unseat an incumbent in Illinois who has a conservative anti-choice, anti-LGBTQ voting record. Many allies are unable to support Marie Newman because the DCCC will blackball them entirely if they work with her. The DCCC's policy will hurt progressive mobilization efforts and democracy in the long run. It will prevent competition and stem the flow of ideas by trying to stop courageous candidates who want to challenge the status quo. It is simply undemocratic of the DCCC. We need to fight until the DCCC reverses this terrible, out of touch policy. Sign the petition today to show your support for fair primaries.

The YMCA is buying land in New Market Township for a camp, neither the state or county has required an Environmental Impact Study. Even though they will put 72 horse in a fenced 10 acre lot where acid from manure and urine will soak the ground and enter ground water, filling and maintaining a swimming pool for 300 people plus toilets and showers-which may effect the aquifer and last taking a small dirt road which runs through a natural watershed, where wild life exist and turning it into a bus and large truck road. This will require the changing or draining of a natural pond where the wild life comes to drink. The road may also cause a higher rate of drainage into neighboring properties. The impact of noise from vehicles and the change in air quality from diesel buses, trucks etc is also a concern to the bees and other wild life.

Our Demands: 1) We demand a meeting with the two Peoria County States Attorneys overseeing this case 2) We demand that Tina Gray be allowed to testify at the Grand Jury hearing. 3) We demand that Jack T. Anderson, perpetrator, be held accountable; charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a hate crime.
