Acts of violence are terrorizing communities throughout Illinois. Children are being murdered and traumatized, without any support or constructive outlet. The hurt, pain, and tears of victims, families, and the community have been ignored for far too long. Protecting human lives should be the number one priority of this administration, and this is why Illinois desperately needs a Violence Prevention Commission immediately.

I'm starting this petition because I am an immigrant who has been affected by these immigration events that have happened in the past few years. Also, after doing some research, I found all the benefits that an open border policy could bring to the U.S.

An alarming new study gives an inside look into how big corporations are manipulating our democracy -- and how right-wing lawmakers rubber-stamp laws written by front groups like the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC writes “model bills” that roll back the rights you and I care about -- like gun safety, access to affordable healthcare, a clean environment, and more. Then, state lawmakers introduce them almost word-for-word as real legislation that often becomes law -- making our communities less safe and enriching ALEC’s corporate donors at our expense. Worst of all, these “model bills” are written by corporate lobbyists behind closed doors. ALEC doesn’t want you and me to know that they’re undermining our democracy, giving power to wealthy donors, and stripping us of our rights -- so they wield their influence in secret. ALEC is funded by a collection of big-name corporations like UPS, Comcast, and Anheuser-Busch. We must hold these corporations accountable for the dangerous tactics they’re funding -- and EXPOSE the harm ALEC is doing to our democracy. Over the last few years, we’ve pushed over 100 major companies to cut ties with ALEC due to its extreme agenda and anti-democracy tactics -- and we need to keep the public outcry going. Add your name to put pressure on these corporations to STOP funding ALEC’s schemes.

Illinois is one of the states most impacted by coal ash waste and pollution; we face a growing crisis that is threatening our groundwater, rivers and lakes, health, and property values. Inadequate federal and state coal ash standards have left Illinois largely unprotected. Even though coal ash is tainted with mercury, lead, arsenic and other heavy metals that are linked to cancer, nervous system damage, cardiovascular problems, and developmental disorders, it continues to be dumped in dozens of leaking ponds and landfills across the state. We have repeated reports of ongoing groundwater contamination at the majority of coal ash dumps in Illinois, including visible leaching of toxic coal ash directly into Illinois’ only National Scenic River, the Vermilion. Illinois residents and taxpayers deserve clean, safe water and air and we refuse to allow out-of-state corporations to leave us with pollution and clean-up costs. The Illinois legislature should immediately pass comprehensive legislation that 1) PROTECTS ILLINOIS COMMUNITIES by stopping ongoing groundwater contamination and requires dry handling and disposal of coal ash; 2) GIVES CITIZENS A VOICE: access to coal ash information in their communities and meaningful participation in decisions about how coal ash will be handled locally; and 3) A GUARANTEE that holds polluters accountable for the cost and clean-up of their coal ash mess so that taxpayers aren’t left with the bill.

I am starting this petition because I want to make a change in communities around me. If there are suicide rates 150% above the nation's average, that is beyond alarming. I have faced the effects of suicide first hand and it is not an experience I would wish upon everyone. This bill would be so beneficial to the Native American communities who are in desperate need of a helping hand to give them a sense of purpose and support in their lives.

We applaud California legislators for continuing to protect the people, land, and waterways from plastic pollution. Tell them they aren't doing enough in State Assembly Bill AB 1080 to combat the real issue at hand: single-use PET plastic. Source reduction solves nothing in relation to the plastic pollution in our environment. Recycling is not (and never has been) a viable option for 100% reduction of plastics in landfills. The only way to properly work on a solution to the plastics crisis includes a complete ban on single-use PET plastics. All plastic that has ever been created is still around in some form. According to Plasticoceans.org, "We are producing over 300 million tons of plastic every year, 50% of which is for single-use purposes." China is no longer a partner in the United States recycling program, and cities all over the country are struggling to find a solution to the plastic pollution crisis. In many places, refuse collection operators burn plastic trash or transport it to landfills. When plastic is heated to a high enough temperature it becomes a toxic fume. When plastic bottles are transported to landfills, they often end up in waterways and our oceans, ESPECIALLY in California. We know about the Garbage Island (the size of Texas). We know that California's economy is the fifth largest in the world-- bigger than Great Britain's economy. We know California coasts, rivers, and land are an asset both economically and environmentally. We KNOW Californians can make a worldwide difference, if our legislators will stop the garbage in its tracks. We must protect all aspects of California, and the only way to really protect California (and the rest of the world from our trash) is through proper legislation that bans the biggest problem in the plastic pollution chain: single-use PET plastic. Sign this petition to tell all California legislators we want single-use PET plastic included in AB-1080. OUT by 2030!

I'm composing this petition after listening to Chris Cuomo's investigative reporting on the border crisis. Chris's investigative reporting made me desire to sign a petition in requesting Congress & Administration to take action on the border crisis. The crisis, being our overwhelmed DHS personnel needing help in humanely aiding asylum seekers at the border. Unfortunately, I don't see any petitions to keep Congress & Administration accountable to address this issue, before innocent families get harmed.

I want to change that school's bullying policy! They claim to be anti bullying but nothing ever gets done for those who are bullied! There need to be more rules at the school against cyber bullying.

To protect the 1st amendment rights of all people and members. To have interventions done by legislators and FCC.

Our CTES mission statement is not being honored by current leadership in the school. Because of this our school and community is facing problems on a daily basis. We have a letter of factual statements that is constantly being updated by the volume of people who have come forward to share their story of their negative interactions with the current principal. We will be attending the board meeting on April 25th. We are going to request to be on the agenda for that night. Please come and support us as we also have been reached out by the Chester Telegraph who will also be there.

The price for our sports is increasing, taking more money out of parents pockets for their kid to enjoy their sport.

My household has been effected behind bullying and my 3rd grader is starting to become more distant than normal. We (as the parents of our 3rd grader) ask you to please sign this petition by telling others you stand AGAINST bullying!!!
