Foundation Aid NYS funding for public schools is woefully inadequate. We have had enough of huge class sizes and cutbacks to programming because our Governor does not see education as a priority in our state. NYS has a tax cap and schools cannot raise the revenue they need by increasing taxes. The deficit caused by continual underfunding has caused schools like mine to lay off teachers, administrators, and support staff and increase class sizes. Sign this petition to ask Governor Cuomo to do his job and grant students their right to a quality education.

Japan's Olympics 2020 Committee is unconscionably scheduling events in the still highly radioactively contaminated town/prefecture of Fukushima. To help to ensure that anyone who is elected into office is putting the interests of the people first, not their own benefit.

We believe that every child in Chicago should have access to at least a full time social worker in every single Chicago Public School; the standard is 250 students to every 1 social worker in schools with a normal level of trauma and 50 students to 1 social worker in schools with high trauma. The current ratio of students to social workers in CPS is 1053 students to every 1 social worker. Our kids deserve better, join us in demanding that our students have appropriate access to social workers in Chicago Public Schools.

I’m from a rural town in Northeast Pennsylvania, and am pursuing a career in sustainable agriculture and community development. I have intentions of spending most of my adult life, working at least 40 hours per week, to help provide the food that we all need to survive, and the plans and mobilization for community development, that we all need to thrive. Yet, I realize, if things stay the way they are, I will likely struggle to pay my bills and then have to deal with the high stress and anxiety that so many in our country face every day. I, and many other like minded individuals, want to help society, and yet not all of us are awarded financial stability for doing the best that we can do. Something is wrong with that, and that is why I care to write this petition. I urge all of the Democratic candidates to reflect on the importance the presidency holds, while not ignoring the fact that it takes far more than one individual to run a nation and bring about systemic change for the good of all. Enormous amounts of time and money in this country are wasted in argument and competition, whereas conversation and collaboration can actually get things done in an efficient manner. I ask that you stop your campaigns momentarily, sit down and talk to one another, and come up with a team to try and take over the executive branch through the 2020 election. After putting together a team and rough agenda headed for the white house, your now pooled campaign time and money could be invested in community discussions on how the big change y'all are proposing is not going to screw over the working class. Through these conversations, your agenda and policies can be refined to reflect the needs of the working class, while gathering enough grassroots support to ensure their passage into law if you do win the election. Political decisions are determining whether my neighbor and I have access to healthy food, clean water, a roof over our head, and the ability to educate and better ourselves. Political decisions should be leveling the playing field and making sure each and every person, regardless of sex, race, origin, or belief, has an equal opportunity to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Not only is this charge unnecessary, but also disgraceful on behalf of the sheriff department! This was about a small child. How many men stop alongside the highway to relieve themselves without being charged with any type of citation? I'm sure the sheriff department has more pressing issues than a little boy having to use the restroom! Damaso Alcaire was fired for uploading a ping pong team building video on YouTube so that he could share it with two of the participates. In order to share it, the site needed a link to a website. The policy dictates that no videos or photos of the companies' secrets, machinery, and or tooling should be taken or uploaded to sites outside of the network. Since, Damaso's video only shows a white wall and ping pong table, he did not violate any company policy. However, the company cited, violation of company policy, for the reasoning behind his firing even though no member of Human Resources or Employee Relations approached Damaso to get his statement; as policy dictates. Even more, others have been caught taking photos of the actual machines and are still present and happily working, because their supervisor's vouched for them; albeit violating policy. However, the supervisor brutality task force and their helpers operating on Damaso's shift decided to gang up, report him, and push for his firing after Damaso's supervisor asked him to check up on an assignment a member of the supervisor brutality task force was supposed to complete. Another issue the ego centered supervisor brutality task force had with Damaso was the fact that he was encouraging individuals in the work place to challenge themselves and apply to different positions within the company. The supervisor brutality task force was in opposition to Damaso's positive activity because they would lose good workers . They even went so far as to report Damaso to his own Supervisor, because of his encouraging work; which in turn his supervisor told him to continue doing what he was doing. Damaso has done nothing but create sports and outing events for the individuals in the company. He's started yoga classes and much more. He was in the process of becoming a supervisor. He's our activities coordinator, community leader, our family, and we want him back. We will not let, the supervisor brutality task force, destroy this good man's life.

Dozens of Trump administration officials—including recently-resigned DHS Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen—were responsible for planning, implementing, and defending the horrific family separation policy. After these officials leave government, they shouldn't be able to take refuge in America's corporate corner offices and boardrooms. Children were torn away from their parents and placed in cages. It was an image the Trump administration hoped would send a message to migrant families heading north for asylum: if you come here, this could happen to you. The cruelty of the policy was matched only by the incompetence of its execution. Administration officials did not keep the records needed for reuniting families, nor did they properly vet employees responsible for looking after these children. Because of their negligence, children have been physically abused. Because of their negligence, children have been sexually assaulted. Because of their negligence, children have died. Their inaction and negligence did not happen in a vacuum. Senior members of the Trump administration let this happen and they should be held accountable, not rewarded.

In order to pay off staggering amount of student loan debt, debtors should be able to use pre-tax dollars to pay back government loans. The senate has proposed a bill to garnish wages to repay student loan debt with after tax dollars. Using a SLFSA will expedite and ensure loan repayment more effectively than wage garnishment and after tax dollars.

As involved and organized parents, our expectations were that Stafford would communicate using more than two methods (website & outcalls) to allow sufficient time to download, complete, and then return such application. This was not the case for the 2018-2019 school year and we ask that SMSD revise their communication methods.
