I am a black American male who was a police officer for 30 years. Historically America has been a killing field for my people for centuries. This legislation codifies the slaughter of young black men like Trayvon Martin by trigger happy bigoted individuals. Everyone in Ohio regardless of race or gender is endangered by this wild wild west policy that creates Smith and Wesson courage in the minds of reckless people. This is obviously a power move by the NRA over the objections and threatened veto of Republican Governor John Kasich. Applying for asylum is an international right. By stopping those who seek shelter in the United States from doing so, the Obama Administration broke the law—and put the lives of thousands at risk for political gain.

In small towns and rural communities, we believe in taking care of all our kids. Period! One of the most important programs for rural youth is 4-H, a program that creates a positive environment where they receive guidance from adult mentors and are encouraged to take on proactive leadership roles. 4‑H reaches almost six million young people ages 5 to 21 through 100 public universities and is administered through USDA programs. Young people experience 4‑H through school and community clubs, in-school and after-school programs and 4‑H camps. Recently, 4-H committed to the campaign “4-H Grows: A Promise to America’s Kids,” which seeks by 2025 to have the organization reflect "the population demographics, vulnerable populations, diverse needs and social conditions of the country." As part of that pledge, extension leaders created a best-practices document that became the foundation of a national guidance for working with vulnerable populations, including incarcerated and LGBT youth, as well as kids with disabilities. The national guidance called on 4-H to treat all students consistent with their gender identity and allow them "equal access," even when families or community members "raise objections.” "As is consistently recognized in civil rights cases, the desire to accommodate others’ discomfort cannot justify a practice that singles out and disadvantages a particular class of individual," the national proposal read. However it was recently revealed that USDA officials within the Trump administration pushed national 4-H leaders to withdraw their policies welcoming LGBTQ children after protests from the Liberty Counsel, an organization labeled a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center. Rural children deserve equal access to the valuable skills gained through 4-H and all kids should benefit from 4-H programing regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identification. Please sign our petition and demand that Sonny Purdue reinstate 4-H’s guidances welcoming LGBTQ children.

I myself have made the mistake of painting property that was not mine. I hope to help prevent anyone from making the same mistake because it had nearly ruined my future and cost me a lot of money. I think that if Pittsburgh would like less vandalism or "graffiti", they should promote a safe and fun place for the street art community to run free. In return, this will become an attraction for tourists and a renowned destination for the community. Pittsburgh is the birthplace of pop art, thanks to Andy Warhol, but I think it's time for us to finally embrace street art as well before it causes more "damage". It's time to give us our own canvas, and simply build a brick wall with it's only purpose being a voice for the streets, and an interactive art project for the community.

The part of Jamaica Plain where the Julia Martin House is located is an intergenerational community surrounded by seniors aging-in-place and youth getting wrap-around care at the Martha Eliot Health Center. The safety of everyone in the area is made better by having streets that are accessible.

Increased transparency/accountability among companies and alike is important to the public at large since everyone is involved in economic system.

It has been reported that over 58% of Wisconsin citizens strongly disagree with the unfairness of the way the GOP has gerrymandered Wisconsin voting districts. Now that the GOP state legislature is trying to limit the new Dem. Governor's power, one of the concerns is that the GOP is simply trying to make it impossible to redraw our voting districts in a fair and non-partisan manner. Do you oppose this legislative action against fair redistricting?

We are heartbroken and saddened to hear that Sunshine Preschool will be closed without any input from the community. Sunshine is over 30 years old and our most sought after enrolled preschool in town. The 4 current teachers are Mrs. Boyd, Mrs. Jasinski, Mrs. Jents, and Mrs. Mills. We want our kids to continue to be taught and nurtured by them at Sunshine....not another type of school with a different curriculum. We all choose Sunshine for its outstanding quality, faith, and love that our children receive. Please sign this petition to show the church that we do not need another LADC school in Forest Lake. Testing is NOT teaching and not everyone is a good test taker. Students need to get back to the love of learning and not have the fear of passing the state test. Being a high school student myself, I believe we should be taught how to become successful and productive individuals by being allowed to learn about what interests us; not what the state deems every student should know. This petition was inspired by the Massachusetts campaign, "Less Testing, More Learning."

Today some states require no training to receive a permit to carry a firearm in public. Other states have required officials to sign off on permit applications and are subject to arbitrary discrimination. Adding to this, permits from one state may or may not be honored in other states. This creates a patchwork of conflicting rules and regulations that benefits no-one. Please ask Washington to create a single, unified, consistent, and nationwide program to background check, train, and issue permits for concealed weapons.

The attack on Social Security must stop, and be improved on with cost of living rises every year. Sooner rather then later more people will be over the age of 60. It is time to address the countries population, and take care of our elderly and infirmed.
