Petition For Use Of A State Property: MJ Enterprises of Brevard Co., Inc.. is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to opening transitional housing for homeless veterans. We have found a facility that is owned by the state of Florida that was a halfway house for juvenile females up until 2016 located at 5332 Riveredge Drive Titusville Fl. We have contacted the state juvenile department and inquired about leasing the property to use for our housing. They have no immediate or future plans for the property and have told us that they would “contact us if things changed.” This was 1 year ago, and we have not heard from them since. The property is still vacant, and we need your help in attempting to get their attention. This property would be ideal for our needs; everything we need is already there, (dormitories, admin building, rec room, kitchen, etc.) All we would need to do is move in staff, stock the kitchen and hire staff. the judo program has been serving the community for about 5 decades free of charge to all. the program has been crucial to teaching kids judo, competitions and travel. it has also had 2 athletes compete on the international world scene such as the modern-day Olympics, '84, '04, and '08.

I’m 14 years old, growing up my father would tell me stories of times of him being school and when he was younger like around my age. He was kicked out of school because of causing to much trouble for the school to handle. He was kicked out during 9th grade, after that he fell into the gang world cause no school wanted him and all the trouble he had caused to schools. Once he became a father to 4 kids and a husband to a lovely hardworking mother, he realized that he needed to be a role model for us and the first step to getting there was to finishing school and graduating. No school would want him since he was in a gang a long time ago and his background wasn’t to good as well. I think that every kid and every parent that hasn’t had the chance to finish school should get the opportunity to do so no matter what they were associated with, what race they are, nor where they come/are from.

The 35 day shutdown of the federal government was enormously destructive. This is no way to negotiate our policy differences. I've spent 2+ years of my life on this work and when I asked for neighborhood feedback then I was threatened with money or lawsuits and was made aware that they are going to throw so many impediments in my way that this Project would become almost impossible to execute.
