• AZ House of Representatives: Reject sexual offenses and racism and expel Rep. David Stringer
News just broke that Arizona State Rep. David Stringer was charged with multiple sex offenses, including child pornography, in Maryland in 1983. Stringer was charged with five counts and pled guilty to three counts. The other two were dismissed after he successfully completed a 5-year probation and attended a clinic for people with sexual disorders. His record was then later expunged. https://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/news/court-records-arizona-lawmaker-david-stringer-charged-child-porn-1983-11183294 Last year David Stringer was also exposed for making a series of racist comments, before and after his reelection to the Arizona Legislature in the midterm elections. Among other remarks, the lawmaker said, "African-Americans and other racial groups don't … blend in" after coming to the United States and that, unlike immigrants of European descent, they "always look different." He said such differences create "tensions" and "burdens on our system." https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/419168-arizona-state-lawmaker-african-americans-dont-blend-in In June 2018, he came under fire after he was filmed saying immigration is an "existential threat" that will change the face of the United States because "there aren't enough white kids to go around" in public schools. https://www.azcentral.com/story/news/politics/arizona/2018/06/13/arizona-rep-david-stringer-criticized-remarks-immigration/699163002/ Several of his colleagues as well as the Prescott city council (where he represents) have called on him to resign, but he has refused. Tell your AZ Representative that enough is enough. Call on them to expel Rep. David Stringer

  • Ask for Govenor Bevins resignation!
If he is the kind of man who will call our children weak because they didn't get hypothermia or frost bite. What other dangers will he put our kids in? We shouldn't risk it.

  • Keep SIUE Students Out of The Cold
Wednesday, January 30th students of SIUE were exposed to below zero temperatures when most other colleges and schools closed. The health and safety of students at SIUE should be a top priority to staff, making sure the campus closes whenever the weather gets to be too cold.

  • Tell Squarespace to dump Steve King
You have probably heard of Steve King. The nine-term Congressman from Iowa is one of the most racist members of Congress. Here are some of the things Steve King has said: - "White nationalist, white supremacist...when did that language become offensive?" - “You can’t rebuild your civilization with someone else’s babies.” - Dreamers aren’t good people because "for every one who's a valedictorian, there's another 100 out there that weigh 130 pounds and they’ve got calves the size of cantaloupes because they're hauling 75 pounds of marijuana across the desert." There’s a lot more. Just this week we found out that his government website links constituents to a white nationalist blog! It’s time to take action. We have spent too much time over the years blasting King for his head-in-the-sand racism and we should not just denounce him and move on. It’s time to take King’s platforms away. Steve King hosts his campaign website (steveking.com) on Squarespace. Please sign our petition telling Squarespace not to host hate on its platform and to kick King off! There is precedent for this: Squarespace in 2017 gave white supremacist Richard Spencer and a number of other alt-right organizations 48 hours to find a new website host. Other platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube have deleted accounts belonging to extremists like Alex Jones and Milo Yiannopoulos. Media reports subsequently found that those actions dramatically cut down on their audiences. De-platforming works as a way to fight hate. Please SIGN and SHARE our petition telling Squarespace to kick off Steve King!

  • Move BPS 443 lab to 10 am instead of 9 am
Class only goes for about 2 hours each lab, so instead of coming in early and having 2 hours until our next class, pushing back lab an hour would make our day much easier!

You have probably heard of Steve King. The nine-term Congressman from Iowa is one of the most racist members of Congress. He is so racist, he doesn’t even realize when he’s being racist; he usually just doubles down. • Bring smart retail opportunities to Mountains Edge
Mountains Edge is a premier master-planned community that is a great spot to call home. One of the issues that we face is that we have no retail within the community to support the residents. We cannot remain a great community if we continue to reject any and all proposal to bring businesses within our borders.

  • End partisan gerrymandering for good
The Supreme Court has officially announced that Rucho v. Common Cause -- our potentially landmark lawsuit against gerrymandering in North Carolina -- will be heard on March 26th. If we win, we'll set a nationwide precedent to end partisan gerrymandering -- launching a domino effect to strike down rigged maps not just in North Carolina, but in all 50 states. That means we have just under two months to tell the Court loud and clear that We the People deserve fair maps. It's time for a democracy where every vote -- and every voice -- matters. Let's show that Americans nationwide are ready to take a stand against this age-old, undemocratic process. Add your name to demand an end to partisan gerrymandering.

  • We the People of Florida
Florida is known for its Cypress trees and knees, they are protected and should remain that way. Too many sinkholes are coming out because our wetlands and swamps are being filled in for development. Our wildlife doesn't have anywhere to go; our trees are being cut which gives the air our oxygen for us to breathe. I was born in Tampa FL and see the destruction caused by too much development. Too many cars and not enough roads to cover the growth. I wait at the stop light at Collier and 54 in Land O Lakes for at least 3 traffic changes and sometimes more. THIS NEEDS TO STOP

  • This cop killed a child. He doesn't deserve a badge.
Cleveland police officer Timothy Loehmann shot my 12 year old son — Tamir Rice — less than one second after getting out of his car. Now Cleveland’s police union wants him back on the force. The Cleveland police department’s investigation after Loehmann murdered Tamir revealed that Loehmann had lied on his job application, claiming he left another police department (in Independence, Ohio) for “personal reasons.” In fact, he had resigned from the Independence Police Department when he learned they were going to fire him — because they had determined he was unstable and unfit to be a police officer. After discovering this lie, the Cleveland Police department fired Loehmann — but Cleveland’s police union immediately appealed the decision and is trying to get him reinstated. An arbitrator recently ruled against Loehmann and the police union’s attempt to get him back on Cleveland’s police force. That would usually be the end of it — but the police union is still fighting to make Loehmann a police officer again. Timothy Loehmann should never have been hired, and he should never have been in a position to take Tamir’s life. He’s unstable, dishonest, dangerous, and he’s already killed unjustly and recklessly. He definitely shouldn’t be on the streets with a badge and gun, and ever since he murdered Tamir I’ve been fighting to make sure that doesn’t happen. When Loehmann tried to get a job at another police department in Ohio, he was forced to withdraw his application after I spoke out, along with thousands of people in Ohio and across the country. Now it’s time for us to speak out again. Far too often, police unions succeed in quietly getting corrupt and dangerous officers back in their jobs after the public’s attention has moved on. That’s what they’re trying to do here. We can stop it from happening — and make it less likely in the future — by publicly confronting the Cleveland Police Patrolmen’s Association.
