• University of Oregon: Withdraw Your Support of the Fracked Gas Pipeline Now
It is the University of Oregon's responsibility to follow its Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon emissions, NOT to endorse what would be the largest greenhouse gas emitter in the state. The pipeline does more than just endanger our right to a stable climate, it also jeopardizes the safety and drinking water of marginalized communities across Oregon. The construction of this pipeline and export center would be a travesty. UO must follow its climate commitments and reject this irresponsible project by withdrawing from the Portland Business Alliance and publicly denouncing the fracked gas pipeline. • online K12 public school for MO
I am starting this petition because it is not fair that a parent has to pay private school prices ($5,000) to give their child a "public" school education curriculum at home. Missouri needs to provide the option to have a tuition-free online k12.

  • Protect Buena Vista Heights
The community is exhausted at the work involved in keeping on top of The Capital Improvement Projects Dept. The ball has admittedly been dropped on pushing this forward by CIP. We need our Commissioner to support our neighborhood and protect us from all the dangerous, cut-though traffic.

  • Fox Business: Don't Invest in a Regime that Murders Journalists
Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi, a U.S. resident, was just apparently killed on the eve of his wedding— and news reports suggest that the Saudi government was responsible. If that’s true, this is the latest in a long line of actions by the Saudi government cracking down on dissidents and murdering civilians. But U.S. news outlets have consistently propped up the image of Saudi crown prince Mohammed bin Salman as a reformer, giving him a free pass to continue executing Saudi activists, bombing Yemeni children in school buses, and using starvation as weapon of war in Yemen. The New York Times and all other media sponsors have already pulled out of the Saudi government's upcoming high-powered investment conference in the wake of Jamal Khashoggi's apparent murder. But Fox Business is still planning to sponsor the conference, giving a seal of approval to bin Salman’s repressive regime. Add your name to demand #JusticeforJamal and insist Fox Business stop enabling Saudi government repression.

  • Stop Night Time Work On Torrey Pines
Unless you act now, you and your family will be subjected to countless sleepless nights due to construction noise on Torrey Pines even if you live 2-3 blocks away from the main road. Councilmember Barbara Bry and the La Jolla Community Planning Association (LJCPA) at the behest of the La Jolla Village Merchants Association (LJVMA) have recently endorsed night time construction on Torrey Pines giving the city the green light to do all current and future road work at night. From now until the end of the year the City plans on working on the Torrey Pines Slope Stabilization Project between 10 PM and 5 AM. The soil-nail wall installation between Little and Roseland alone requires loud drilling all night, every work night for at least 30 days. In a few weeks the Water Project 1011 will switch to night work between Paseo Dorado and Calle de la Plata. On Fri/Sat Oct 26/27 they plan on all night work including jackhammering at Hillside and Torrey Pines to fix the gutters. Please sign this petition to send the message to our representative and the City of San Diego that La Jolla is a residential community that will not tolerate on-going night construction! You can also contact Barbara Bry with your concerns at [email protected] or 619-236-6611. Thank you!

  • America Should Lead the World's Green Revolution!
I don't want to see the green future handed over to other countries. America can do it better, smarter, and more efficiently. In decades to come our economy will roar from it, and our grandchildren will thank us for doing the right thing for the planet.

  • Tell Rick Scott: Extend Voter Registration Until The Hurricane Michael Emergency Is Over
Hurricane Michael is a monster storm, fueled by global warming pollution. It cut an unprecedented path of terrible destruction through the Florida panhandle. Hundreds of thousands of Floridians faced mandatory evacuation orders even as the October 9 voter registration deadline approached. Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency on October 7 and has been making dozens of TV appearances but has refused to extend the voter registration deadline. The people of Florida need to be able to focus right now on keeping themselves and their loved ones safe, not on whether they'll be able to cast their ballots. Rick Scott is a climate change denier and was the chairman of Donald Trump's Super PAC. He is playing partisan politics with our democracy—just like he did when Hurricane Matthew hit Florida in 2016. This is unacceptable.

  • Tell Brian Kemp: Stop Suppressing Georgia Voters!
53,000 eligible Georgia voters may have their rights taken away -- we need to speak out now. Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp -- who is running for Governor this year -- has crafted yet another partisan voter suppression scheme meant to disenfranchise Black voters in Georgia. He’s already pushed to close rural polling places, and purged legitimate voters from the rolls. Now, he’s blocking 53,000 new voter registrations from being processed, which means robbing 53,000 mostly Black Georgians of their right to vote in the midterm elections . Under Kemp’s needlessly strict “exact match” rule (which most states don’t use), if someone moves or gets married and changes their name, their entire registration can be thrown out. These Georgians followed the rules to do their civic duty -- and Kemp is STILL trying to prevent them from exercising their constitutional right to vote. The right to vote and make our voices heard is fundamental to our democracy. Every eligible voter should have a say in the people and policies that determine the future for their families, community, and country. We’ve already seen how widespread outrage and activism can make real change in Georgia -- like when our efforts forced the local board of elections to keep each and every polling place in Randolph County open, despite threat of shutdowns. Now, we need a nationwide outcry to tell Brian Kemp -- stop suppressing votes, and let every eligible voter have their say.

  • No Avalon High School Name change
As a community with such a deep history, we do not see the purpose to take part of our identity from us for the benefit of a few. With many Alumni who still have a deep connection to Avalon High School, this change will only have a negative effect for the community, and Alumni are proud of the efforts this school does for the community and by doing such a drastic change you affect the community you chose to remove and distance yourself from. Together we are AVALON HIGH; together we are WILMINGTON.

  • Senate, Don't Send a Fossil Fuel Shill to FERC!
The IPCC just gave the world its conservative estimate that we have 12 years to do whatever we can to mitigate the effects of climate change before it's too late. And yet, Trump's nominee to fill Robert Powelson's vacancy on the five-member panel of commissioners at the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission is a pro-fossil fuel shill. Read his Earth Day op-ed for The Hill referenced in the petition to get a good sense of who he is. https://thehill.com/opinion/energy-environment/383605-this-earth-day-lets-accept-the-critical-role-that-fossil-fuel We just learned that the Senate is planning to move quick to get Bernard McNamee confirmed. His confirmation hearing has already been scheduled for November. We need to push hard on senators to reject this terrible candidate.

  • Ted Cruz: Keep your commitment to the town hall debate
I’m a resident of Texas. I vote in every election that I’m able. I’d like to see Ted Cruz meet Beto O’Rourke in this format. I feel it would be an open, honest exchange and I’m betting that I’m not the only one.

  • Universal Health Care
Everyone should be entitled to proper health care. A person should not have to choose health care over food. Haing health care would be preventing maintenance of a persons health. I believe that whether you are young or old you deserve the best of care. A person should not be denied medical attention or medicine because he or she can not afford to pay. I know this can be done if we work together. The University of Alabama is number one in football. Why can't we be number one in taking care the need of our healthcare?
