Latimer County General Hospital has closed once again leaving the residents of Wilburton, OK and surrounding areas without emergency care, laboratory services, and urgent care.

Hundreds of thousands of Florida voters could be silenced if we don’t speak out right now. Tuesday, October 9th was the state’s official registration deadline -- but they’ve been under a state of emergency all week as Hurricane Michael approaches. That will prevent many Floridians from accessing services, documentation, or resources they needed to register to vote. On top of that, the state’s Online Voter Registration portal has been experiencing technical glitches, with multiple eligible voters reporting they were unable to register. It’s imperative that election officials give Florida voters more time to register. That’s what they did in 2016 as the state dealt with Hurricane Matthew. In that week, 108,000 additional Floridians registered to vote -- who wouldn’t have been heard if that extension didn’t happen. Now, with multiple close contests on the Florida ballot -- including the Second Chances Florida ballot measure that would restore voting rights to millions of formerly incarcerated Floridians -- it’s crucial that every eligible voter has the chance to participate and have their say. We need to shine a nationwide spotlight on this voting rights crisis -- because we can’t let any eligible voter lose their right to be heard in our democracy. Please add your name and call on Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner to extend the registration deadline by a week.

Because Medicare and private insurance does not cover the cost of medical marijuana products, the cost can be devastating for seniors 65 years and older on a fixed income. We need to help our seniors in this situation and giving legal patients the right to partially self supply would be a good start. There will still be plenty of money to be made for the state from the dispensaries.

Thousands of migrant children are being detained in detention facilities in the United States. These children were either ripped away from their families or were by themselves when they were trying to come to this country for a better life. Children do not deserve to be treated like this and everyone deserves a chance to come to this country to have a better life.

To remove the policy on charging a guest fee

Seniors on fixed incomes like my mom can't afford to have their teeth fixed. Medicare should be covering this. Instead seniors like my mom who have worked most of their lives can't afford to have their teeth fixed.

Seniors who have worked certain amount of time should be provided with free transportation to shop and take care of their business through Medicare. It is dangerous for most seniors to be driving on the roads, and it is also not safe for them to walk in the streets. Today I was almost hit by a senior looked about eighty years old. She made a turn into oncoming traffic never saw the cars coming. This isn't the first time.

I have seen first-hand issues that occur in schools. As a past teacher, teacher's aid, and student of education, I have a wide-variety of experiences that shed light on the current reality of our educational system. There is a reason why there are so many school shootings. There are reasons why America is falling way behind in education as compared to the rest of the world. The reason is because schools do not support 21st century teachers, and mediocre staff are allowed to continue with unchecked authority. We not only need skilled teachers, but KIND TEACHERS. Kids often feel isolated and alone, giving way to mental health issues.

Our Government is moving the country in the wrong direction by dividing us and destroying the moral values that our country stands for. Please go and vote in the midterm election for those who are ready to do all that is needed to reverse the direction and restore our great American values forever.

I am very disappointed that our country is so divided, and that there are so many elected officials that don’t represent the voice of their constituents but rather vote along partisan lines banked by high power lobbiests. Our country and our government are meant to be for the people by the people. We need a more humane government where regardless of political affiliation we work towards the common goals of economic, environmental and social justice. Please register, and please vote. It is the only way to make change happen.
