The Supreme Court is the highest court in the land, with a lifetime appointment. Brett Kavanaugh should not be confirmed nor voted upon until the FBI does an investigation. It's the very least the Senate and White House can do. The American Bar Association agrees saying: "The basic principles that underscore the Senate's constitutional duty of advice and consent on federal judicial nominees require nothing less than a careful examination of the accusations and facts by the FBI." There is no reason to rush through a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the nation.

Yesterday, the Pennsylvania House Environmental Resources and Energy Committee voted in favor of an amended version of a Senate bill designed to quash protest. It is modeled after a sample bill written by the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). Versions of the bill have shown up in at least 31 states. The amended bill is still terrible. You'll notice that, unlike the ALEC bill, the PA bill defines schools as critical infrastructure facilities, so this isn't just about criminalizing pipeline protesters. The first opportunity for a floor vote will be on October 9th. If the amended bill passes the House, it will go back to the Senate, so we're asking you to sign this petition to all PA legislators telling them to vote NO on SB652. After only nine months in state office, State Senator Dean Tran is already ducking his responsibilities to the public. He’s refusing to attend the Sentinel & Enterprise’s October 24 State Senate debate with his opponent in the November election, Leominster City Councilor Sue Chalifoux Zephir. Senator Tran said no to the newspaper’s invitation to a one-on-one debate, saying he would only “respond to written questions” with written answers. The two other forums Tran has agreed to participate in will provide candidates with the questions or topics in advance, making the Sentinel & Enterprise debate the only open-ended debate of this election. The Sentinel & Enterprise reported recently that 75 percent of Tran’s campaign donors are from outside of the district. Perhaps he believes he is no longer accountable to his constituents. Tell Dean Tran to respect the voter of our region and agree to the Sentinel & Enterprise debate! Voters deserve to hear from him about the issues facing families in North Central Massachusetts.

The artificial deadline to vote on SCOTUS does not indicate than any serious consideration is being given to a number of recent allegations. Let's be sure we're making a genuine effort to find the best candidate for this lifetime appointment.

The Governor, who was not voted in, has never officially expressed her views on any issues. If she should be elected for the 1st time, people need to know what they are voting for.
