Since taking over the Lucedale Animal Shelter, Dixie Adoptables has saved the lives of over 2,000 animals in George County, but we are overwhelmed financially since we only receive funding from the city, not the county.

I believe that if We The People, demand that every candidate running for office will agree to these principles, and work to implement them, once elected, we can take back our government from the Oligarchs who currently control it.

Allegheny County is denying us public access to information about where the fracking industry has leased land.  County Council Member Anita Prizio has introduced legislation to change this by creating an Allegheny County Lease registry. It would allow residents, local governments and public safety personnel to know where fracking leases are in the county. Making this information available to the public would give us the time we need to organize to prevent fracking wells.

Our country is better than this. The airing of the Trump rallies is inciting violence. Someone will die.

This is a petition sponsored by The Dumas Hotel Legacy, Inc. (representing more than 400 citizens/donors/members as part of their efforts to purchase the historic Dumas Hotel). This petition is an opportunity for the larger Roanoke community to demonstrate their support for our efforts. This petition also underscores the critical importance of this sacred property, community ownership, and control of its future. This is a great opportunity for Roanoke to make restitution for its urban renewal policies that led to millions of dollars in property and resources being taken from the black community for generations. It a chance for real RECONCILIATION.

The Mashpee Wampanoag, the People of the First Light, have occupied the same region for over 12,000 years and have faced diminishment of their homelands since colonization. The latest decision is a blow to Tribal sovereignty and undermines the future and sustainability of the tribal nation. The Tribe is asking Congress to protect its reservation lands and has put forth the "Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe Reservation Reaffirmation Act (HR.312)." We are asking for signatures in support of this legislation.

Section 117.22.b of the 16 Texas Administrative Code currently requires a licensing exam that is “broadly recognized for licensure purposes by other states that regulate massage therapists.” The MBLEx is the only exam recognized by more than a single state – it is recognized in 46 of the 50 states. To eliminate the opportunity for Texas licensing candidates to use this exam, by changing or omitting Section 117.22.b, would limit their mobility options. This may make them reconsider becoming licensed in Texas, which would, in turn, negatively impact the industry and the consumers of massage in Texas.

Our elected officials implemented a 40% increase for our meter charge in October of 2017 in addition to an 8% increase in the unit price for our water and now they're coming back to the well (our wallets!). Proposition 218 requires that the city give resident 45 days advance notice prior to the Dec 3rd public hearing by the City Council. During the public hearing, if a majority protest is received then the City Council cannot adopt the noticed rate increase; if less than a majority protest is received, then the City may adopt the rate increase. A majority protest is 50% plus 1 of ALL property owners noticed, not a simple majority of votes received. Every day delivers news of fresh assaults to human decency and evisceration of our Democratic institutions. This continuous stream of Trump's lies and bullying erodes the quality of my life, and I do not feel safe under his leadership. Now in full-throttle, Trump's cheap tricks-- shameless lies, utter mean-spiritedness, and coliseum theatrics--to win at any cost are resulting that seem to increase his popularity, yielding to his authoritarian aspirations. We must vote for authentic security and the greatness of American Democracy, ethics, human rights, and environmental stewardship.
