• Keep the Mills Branch pool open till 9:00 or 10:00 pm
I am so tired of seeing our pool time dwindling down, from 10:00 PM to 7:50 PM. The Mills Branch pool used to be open till 10 PM allowing all those people that worked late hours to come enjoy the pool, lets get our pool time back. Thanks Garth Faries

  • Educational Funding
This petition is one that asks for educational improvement. To achieve this in our town we need more financial support than we are currently receiving. The money for this funding, however, should not have to come at the cost of jobs, or an increase in taxes. Rather, this petition asks for a re-evaluation of how money is spent, and a re-distribution of misused money to benefit our education.

  • #MuslimRootsBill
Muslims face discrimination and unfair negative media coverage constantly. The image of the terroristic Muslim is almost force-fed, often overshadowing the contributions American-Muslims have brought forth, whether it be Olympic medals, war heroes, or even contributions towards the Apollo program. In a time where hate crimes and assaults against Muslims are sharply increasing and surpassing 9/11 era levels, the Muslim community needs positivity and strength more than ever. Sign the petition below to urge Congress to pass H. Res 869, which aims to acknowledge the contributions and achievements of Muslim Americans in this country

  • Suspend MSU's Accreditation Until ALL Past Abuse is Acknowledged & Remedied
I started this petition because I have seen the corruption that exists at MSU first-hand. In the 1990s, I was part of a student government that attempted to raise the alarm regarding safety issues in the graduate dorm (these included a director who was trolling students for sex, insufficient night security that may have contributed to several sexual assaults within the building, and a Residence Life staff that failed to intervene in a student suicide attempt of which it had been warned). MSU responded viciously to our attempt to raise awareness--and a Vice President went so far as to threaten to out several of us as gay. Lou Anna Simon was Provost at the time, and she did nothing to stop this unethical conduct. I encourage signers of this petition to also sign and share the following, where one may read more on the topic: https://www.change.org/p/msu-still-ignores-its-past-abuse-of-gay-students-has-made-no-real-change-endtheabusemsu

  • Aaron's: Report to Credit Bureaus
As of May 1st, without informing customers, Aaron's stopped reporting to the credit bureaus when they receive payments. Without this resource, many people won't be able to build their credit scores, and what's worse is that they're allowing people to live under the illusion that their hard-earned money is going to building their scores. Please sign to ask Aaron's to begin reporting again!

  • Ban/Tax Plastic Grocery Bags in Grocery Stores
There will soon be more plastic in our oceans than marine-life. Reusable grocery sacks are very inexpensive and are more likely to be used if grocers do not offer a free, unlimited supply of plastic bags for their customers.

  • Restore the Civil Jury Trial
The 7th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution and Article 1, Section 16 of the California State Constitution guarantees its citizen the right to a jury trial in civil cases, such as disputes between banks and borrowers, employees and employers, insurance companies and the people who bought the insurance, doctors and patients, etc. But both the California courts and the U. S. Supreme Court have eroded that right by allowing the bank, employer, insurance companies, hospitals, and doctors to create contracts that have provisions that require in the event of a disagreement the parties must go to arbitration.

  • Illinois: Protect Net Neutrality
In 2017, I was heavily invested in the campaign against Ajit Pai's repeal of the 2015 Open Internet Order, as I would rather not have Comcast, AT&T, Verizon and Charter have the power to decide winners and losers on the internet, which would happen after the repeal of net neutrality. After seeing Washington and Oregon pass their own laws, and the California State Senate advancing theirs, Illinois should start on creating a net neutrality law for our state, so that we can preserve the free and open internet that has thrived over the last two decades.

  • NFL owners should support players' right to protest
The National Football League’s new policy preventing players from protesting police brutality and racial injustice during the National Anthem isn’t just an insult to the First Amendment. It’s also a complete cave to Donald Trump and the virulent strain of white supremacy this White House emboldens every day. Two years ago, when Colin Kaepernick first took a knee on the field to protest racial injustice, I was proud to lead 14 of my colleagues in the New York City Council in taking a knee in solidarity with protesting players. When our protest got reported on the news, I received vitriolic hate mail in response. This is bigger than just football. For NFL owners to submit to Trump’s demands and stifle players’ ability to stand up for what they believe sends a terrible message to the entire country, and it’s morally reprehensible. That’s why I was pleased to see the New York Jets’ owner and CEO Christopher Johnson say that he would pay any fine that his players incurred for protesting, and support any players who feel the need to stand up and speak out. We need more NFL owners to speak out and do the same. I am starting a petition calling on all NFL owners to join in supporting their players’ right to free speech and peaceful protests. Can you add your name and then share it with your friends?

  • Dartmouth Student Advocacy: Marissa Evans
On the poster presentation day for the neuroscience department, I was sick with a 100-degree fever, chills, sweats, etc. I made my advisors aware of the situation and was reassured to "feel better and do not worry about it" and "do my best". Within the week between my defense and the due date for the printed thesis, my second advisor did not respond to my e-mails (upward of 15 now). Since I was unable to obtain his signature and I was sick for the poster session, my thesis was failed. I met with the committee to explain the circumstances. They agreed to pass my honors thesis on the contingency that I accept such a low grade that my GPA drop over .5, jeopardizing my plans to attend medical school. This penalization has yet to be justified. If I take an "independent study" however, my work will receive an A-.
