• Attorney General Sessions: Stop the Hunt for Baby Lily!
As reported in the Washington Post, FBI agents are raiding animal sanctuaries with search warrants in a search for a baby pig rescued from a factory farm. This is not just deeply immoral - we have a duty to help animals who are being abused - but an incredible waste of government resources, in a time that our nation is in crisis due to natural disasters. We're asking Attorney General Sessions to instruct the Utah US Attorney and FBI offices to stop the harassment of animal rescuers, call off the hunt for Lily, and prosecute animal abusing corporations!

  • DACA
Even though I am a white Anglo whose American ancestry dates back centuries, I very strongly support the DACA immigrants, no matter how they got here. I have been personally helped by a kow-wage Chicana caregiver who has made a huge contribution to this country. She and her brethren deserve to be recognised for the life-saving work they have done for me and other American citizens.

  • Tell Rep. Hurd to stand with Dreamers!
Texas has more Dreamers than any other state other than California so this is very important to people in our community. Dreamers were brought here no fault of their own. They know no other country but the United States. I support a path to citizenship for all DACA individuals and so should Representative Will Hurd. Representative Hurd must take a strong stance to pass a Dream Act immediately! Please sign and share with other constituents and take a minute to call his office 210.921.3130.

  • Trump: Formally Declare the Opioid Crisis a National Emergency
Opioids claim the lives of 91 individuals every day. With nearly 60,000 overdose deaths in 2016, 60% of which were related to prescription opioids, it is clear that there is a major public health crisis in our country.

  • SAVE DACA
Working for yrs. with those of color, whether Black or Latinos,Muslims, etc has proved to me that we are all the same; that many of our policies are race-driven; fear of the other. We must get to know each other individually & personally. This Pres. keeps painting negative stereotypes about Latinos & African Americans.Insecurity & an overarching need to be better than others.....!*

  • Tell Congress to protect DACA and pass real immigration reform
Congress needs to demonstrate real leadership and protect our families from being torn apart. Our president’s decision to end DACA is unconscionable. No one is served by policies that tear families apart.

  • Ban the use of fireworks in Oregon
I'm starting this petition because Fireworks are dangerous. The cons WAY OUTWEIGH the pros and since the public cannot handle fireworks responsibly, we don't deserve to have them in our community.

  • Sign the Petition: Dump Trump’s New Toxics Chief
Trump’s latest appointee, Michael Dourson, spent his career helping Big Tobacco, Teflon makers, and other corporations downplay the risks of their chemicals. He doesn’t belong at the EPA where he would have the power to greenlight toxics like asbestos, lead, and BPA —substances that have been linked to cancer, delayed mental development, and major reproductive harm. Trump is showing again that our health doesn’t matter to him, especially the people of color and low-income communities who will be hurt the most by gutting our toxics laws. Sign the petition to tell the nomination committee chairs to #DumpDourson.

  • Woods Humane Society: Stop Killing Farmed Animals
On September 2nd, Woods Humane Society fundraised for their dogs and cats by supporting, and taking money from, a chicken wing festival. Woods continues to hold other events that involve the killing and eating of animals other than dogs and cats. This is a horrific display of speciesism that we feel must come to an end.

  • CA State Assembly : Fight Climate Change and Pass Bill AB-1184
This landmark legislation offers a true level playing field for zero-emission vehicles in the competitive market of CA. The people of CA care about climate change and want the opportunity to participate in this fight. By allowing us to purchase zero-emission vehicles for the same price as Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles you will help spur economic growth and fight climate change at the same time.

  • OBHS Girls 6A State Champions "STRENGTH IN NUMBERS"
To the Olive Branch community, alumni, parents, family and friends of the Olive Brach High School girls’ basketball team WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT with fighting this battle!!! Last basketball season, 2016-2017, the OBHS girls’ team won the 6A state championship making history in the Olive Branch community. On August 17, 2017, the Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) stripped the team of their championship title ruling there was an ineligible player. Along with stripping the title, the girls are not allowed to compete in post season of 2017-2018, the ineligible player is not allowed to play for a year, and there is a $500 fine. No rules were actually broken by the team. The ineligible player competed all season on the Olive Branch Middle School basketball team; after their season was up, she went on to play for the high school team. This young lady attended the middle school on an administrative transfer. DeSoto County School's policy states children of a full-time employees can attend the school of their parent’s choice. However, quite a few administrators failed to do their job and obtain the proper paperwork, and this is being held against the children. Both the middle school and high school are a part of the MHSAA, which means, the middle school administration should have turned in a transfer form to the District before the player could be eligible to play. This did not happen. Additionally, the high school submitted a roster to the district, state and MHSAA before playing in any tournaments with the “ineligible” player’s information. However, no one on any level of the administration disapproved this roster including MHSAA. Our girls should not be punished due to the incompetency of paid administration. These young ladies worked hard all season, and made Olive Branch history. We need the administration to be held accountable! Please support the OBHS girls’ basketball team on their journey to get this ruling overturned by signing this petition. Thank you kindly for your support! We are OB!
