Don't jail climate activists just for speaking out! Thanks to the leadership of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, 350.org, and the Sierra Student Coalition, more than 50 U.S. cities, churches, and colleges have declared that they will not invest in fossil fuels! Big Coal is terrified of this movement, and they're striking back -- frantically trying to ban these campaigns and silence climate activists like you. The Minerals Council of Australia is trying to outlaw coal boycotts and criminalize speaking out for the climate. Think about that: Ask a retirement fund or university not to include coal stocks in their investment portfolio, and go to jail! Australia is the world's leading coal exporter, so if Big Coal succeeds in silencing their opposition and eliminating free speech there, they will try elsewhere -- even here. Australia is sensitive to world opinion, so your voice matters. Sign the petition to the Australian government: Defend our shared climate -- don't ban divestment campaigns!53 of 100 SignaturesCreated by SierraRise

2011 Assembly Bill 364I have been injured by being subjected to an abusive work environment which led to me being terminated in 2012 in retaliation for being awarded my job back in 2009. On November 9, 2011 Assemble Bill 364 was introduced by Representatives Roys, E. Coggs, Grigsby, Kessler, Pasch, Pocan, Steinbrink, C. Taylor, Toles, Turner and Zamarripa, cosponsored by Senators S. Coggs and C. Larson, Referred to Committee on Labor and Workforce Development. 2011 Assembly Bill 364 has not been amended to create 103.08 and 893.997 of the statutes relating to prohibiting abusive work environments and permitting a person who has been subject to such an environment to bring a civil action.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Rebecca I. Human Potential Being Shelved In AmericaBecause 65 million Americans with criminal records face unprecedented barriers to employment; because human potential is being squandered; because a 'get tough on crime' policy created a bogged-down criminal justice system; and because policies within the American legal system have denied far too many citizens their right to trial is why I'm starting this petition. And for the record- most countries don't hold misdemeanors against their citizens for life. Consider that, while you compete for jobs- against immigrants brought in to take the jobs that they won't give to you. Something to consider.196 of 200 SignaturesCreated by CJ Hudson

Republican Party: Stop Messing With People's Voting Rights! How can we as the proponents and defenders of democracy around the world accept such crass, anti-democratic behavior by one of our two national political parties? On the sale that this is being perpetrated, it is clearly a conspiracy against our country's basic principles.15 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Paul Steven Stone

Tell North Carolina Attorney General: Churches should have religious freedom to marry gay couplesTired of hearing religious liberty used to justify discrimination? You'll love this. In North Carolina, it's actually a crime for a pastor to bless a same-sex relationship. So in a historic case, the United Church of Christ, together with a group of local pastors and couples, is seeking to overturn the state's marriage laws because they violate the church's religious freedom to celebrate same-sex weddings. This first-of-its-kind lawsuit could set a hugely important legal precedent. And the North Carolina attorney general can help by declining to defend against the lawsuit and telling the court he agrees that the state's marriage laws are unconstitutional. Attorney General Roy Cooper says he supports marriage equality, but his office is still planning to argue against the lawsuit in court -- ignoring the example of the Obama administration, which last year told the U.S. Supreme Court that the Defense of Marriage Act was unconstitutional and should be overturned. Presumably, Cooper is worried about his political future in a state with many conservative Christian voters. So let's show him that we're standing with the United Church of Christ and want churches to have the religious freedom to treat same-sex couples exactly the same as opposite-sex ones.133 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Michael Sherrard, Faithful America

Save our local Potato FarmersOur local potato fields are located in very rural areas. There is no reason to require fencing and 24 hour security guards with the threat of terrorism here in the U.P. Our local potato farmers have provided potatoes for many years. How heartbreaking that some are now shutting down their family businesses due to new federal regulations. Please sign to support your local potato farmer.182 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Kristina Koski
