Marriage Equality in Kentucky“At some point in our lifetime, gay marriage won't be an issue, and everyone who stood against this civil right will look as outdated as George Wallace standing on the school steps keeping James Hood from entering the University of Alabama because he was black.” ― George Clooney278 of 300 SignaturesCreated by Lucy Villafan

Please Veto SB 154: criminalizes the initiative processWe ask Governor Kitzhaber to veto SB 154, because it would criminalize the initiative process by imposing felony liability on organizers of signature drives, if anyone working on the drive violates any election law or rule, however minor.371 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Dan Meek

Roswell. Little green men welcome. Two gay men, not.Roswell is known as a welcoming place for people - and beings - from around the universe. But this week City Councilors will take a vote to tell gay families they aren't welcome. Don't let a few councilors set Roswell back 60 years by passing this traditional marriage resolution.1,388 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Pat Davis

State Representative Luis Arroyo should come out in favor of SB10: Religious Freedom and Marriage...State Representative Luis Arroyo should come out in favor of SB10, Marriage equality. The 3rd State Representative District is a culturally accepting and diverse district that includes Logan Square, Galewood, Montclare, Belmont-Cragin, and other amazing neighborhoods. Our community is clearly progressive and tolerant and we expect our State Representative to be tolerant and accepting too! For the past few months, Luis Arroyo has dodged his constituents when asked about his position on SB10. Democrat State Representative Luis Arroyo (D-Chicago) voted to get the bill out of committee but would not guarantee his support on the House floor, citing his religious faith and the churches in his district as his reasons for not supporting it. This makes no sense to many people in our district. The bill itself does not force a religious institution to perform a same sex marriage or change any laws that could force a religious institution to do anything that goes against its own values or beliefs. SB10 is a simple civil law that helps many and hurts no one. This petition will show Arroyo that our district supports marriage equality and will convince him to vote yes for SB10 when it eventually comes up for a vote in the Illinois House.

Pass the Respect for Marriage ActNow that the Supreme Court has overturned Section 3 of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), it’s time for Congress to completely repeal it. The Respect for Marriage Act (RMA) repeals DOMA. Under RMA, if someone is legally married in any state, the federal government must recognize that marriage. It means that same-sex couples will get all of the federal benefits afforded to opposite-sex couples. Once they are married, same-sex couples will be able to get these benefits no matter what states they live in or travel to. It is common sense legislation that will clarify and legally codify the recent Supreme Court decision that overturned Section 3 of DOMA. Urge your Members of Congress to support the Respect for Marriage Act today.18,174 of 20,000 SignaturesCreated by Michael Morrill

Return Our Inalienable Rights! Stop Unwarranted NSA Domestic Eavesdropping!Whereas our U. S. Supreme Court in Katz v. U.S. (1967) held that warrant-less electronic surveillance is unconstitutional because it violates an individual's right to be protected from unreasonable searches and seizures; and, Whereas the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISA), operating in secret, authorizes the scrutiny of more Americans than foreigners; and, Whereas the evidence presented to that court presently lacks any real challenge; and, Whereas only a handful of FISA warrant requests have ever been turned down; and, Whereas most federal judges are predisposed to defer to executive claims of national security; and, Whereas these judges are generalists with little experience in evaluating intelligence; and, Whereas these same judges are reluctant to hamper government operatives sworn to defend the nation; and, Whereas the same reluctance is evident among members of Congress who pose as watchdogs but melt when they hear appeals to patriotism from the managers of the intelligence services; and, Whereas the data hauling by our government's intelligence services has gone on for years without real challenge or even question; and, Whereas much of this government snooping is farmed out to profit-seeking corporations that have great appetites for government contracts, secured through executives who enrich themselves by shuttling between agency jobs and the contractors' board rooms; and, Whereas it is widely reported that an estimated 483,000 contractor-employees now hold U.S. Top-Secret Security clearances for this work and such a large number is clearly a security risk in itself violating ‘Need-To-Know” best practices; and, Whereas such a radical challenge to our freedoms demands serious and skeptical oversight: We Now, therefore submit the above petition.173 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Ed Porter
