Remember when Barack sang one line of "Let's Stay Together"at the Apollo? In it, Barack sings of his love for all: "I'm so in love with you." Politicians and celebrities proclaim their love all the time but not as convincingly as Barack Obama. The rest of the song, in its expanded form, conveys his desire to stay together. And he has asked that we come together, work together, stay together -- all through his presidency. The entreaty to stay together is so important now that we have coalesced around the president -- and will be even more important going forward. We can't just stand back and tell Barack Obama to do it all himself while we just watch. It's time that we stay together for the next four years and beyond. To make Voting day a National Holiday so that everyone will have a chance to vote.

Reports have surfaced of serious confusion about the enforcement of the voter ID law across Pennsylvania. Signs that incorrectly state that identification is required have apparently been posted at all of Crawford County’s polling sites. In Butler County, people at the polls have been announcing to voters standing in line that they need photo ID to vote. That is just not true! The state's top election officials must take immediate action to make sure this is not happening in Butler County or anywhere else in Pennsylvania. This is another in a series of voter suppression actions by the Pennsylvania Republicans, who spent months trying to pass a discriminatory Voter ID law in Pennsylvania to deliver the state to Mitt Romney. After a lengthy court battle and tons of public pressure, the judge hearing the case issued an injunction preventing the law from being implemented for this election. Yet even after the ruling, the Department of State continued to run misleading television advertisements and mailed flyers to voters at home falsely implying Pennsylvania voters need to a show a photo ID in order to vote--potentially frightening thousands of voters from going to the polls. Only hours after the polls opened, there have been reports from the NH AFL-CIO of poll workers in Dunbarton telling voters that they cannot cast their ballots without showing photo identification. This is not only false information, it is against New Hampshire law! We need to call on Secretary of State William Gardner and Governor John Lynch to take immediate action to make sure no one is being denied their right to vote in Dunbarton--or anywhere else in New Hampshire.

In the spring of 2008, Aaron Fisher--Victim 1 in the Jerry Sandusky case--then a freshman at Central Mountain High School in Mill Hall, Pennsylvania; revealed that former Penn State defensive coordinator Jerry Sandusky had been molesting him since he was 12 years old. However, when Aaron told his mother and school principal Karen Probst about what had happened, Probst told Aaron and his mother, Dawn Daniels, to "go home and think about it" rather than go to the police. As the investigation unfolded, it emerged that assistant principal and head football coach Steve Turchetta had allowed Sandusky to take Aaron out of class on numerous occasions, and even allowed him to take Aaron off-campus. Turchetta never informed Daniels that this was happening, even after growing suspicious of Sandusky's motives. Three years later, during Fisher's senior year, Daniels learned that some other students, apparently blaming Fisher for getting Penn State coach Joe Paterno fired, had threatened to beat her son up. When it didn't appear that Probst was taking the threat seriously, Daniels was forced to remove Fisher from school.

People are being pushed away from their fundamental right to vote. Why? They have to work! We need a national holiday so that working people can vote without having to choose between their country and their job. We could open more poll places because more people would be able to participate in both voting and volunteering. Students will grow up knowing the importance of their parents voices having meaning, of creating true change, and be able to witness it every year. How come we have not done this yet? It is common sense!

Make America's election day a national paid holiday

Ban pre and post employment drug testing for THC, specially in states where Medical Marijuana is legal to use with a prescription. Marijuana is beneficial to health in many ways unlike Tobacco or Alcohol which are legal despite its addiction and bad affects on society.

Voter disenfranchisement.

In order to form a more perfect union, we the undersigned reaffirm our belief in the basic equality and inalienable rights inherent to all humanity, as expressed in the Declaration of Independence; We underscore our commitment to the central aims of the Constitution of the United States of America: to establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for our common defense, promote the general welfare and secure the blessings of liberty for ourselves and our posterity; We stand together in our belief that the laws, policies and community life of this nation should reflect these fundamental principles and that the Constitution is the supreme Law of the land; Even though we may not always agree on how to achieve these ends, we agree in principle that the noblest ideals and ambitions expressed in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution of the United States of America serve us well as the foundation for our unity, our community and our strength as a nation;

This election has mmore to gain or lose for students than ever before. National issues are everyone's concern, and students should not have to choose between their interest as citizens and students.

I and many other citizens have a difficult time voting because we have to work during the day. No one looks forward to standing in long lines.
