In the early stages of the company, a rising entrepreneur, Sam Walton, began a company which proudly touted products with the “Made In the USA” logo. As a child I can remember some pride in knowing I was helping the U.S. economy while shopping for lower prices. Lower prices were just a happy by-product. Fast forward 25 years later, and “Made in the USA” is nowhere to be seen and is definitely not a selling point. Keep in mind that we as Americans have always been an inventive people, but we won WWI and WWII because as a nation we were able to draw upon a manufacturing sector second to none. What if we needed to enter WWI with the state of our current manufacturing sector? Imagine. Today, our manufacturing sector is suffering due to the outsourcing of manufacturing jobs and from a lack of proper tariffs to protect our workers. The bottom line outweighs the moral necessity to help others. As an Arkansan, nothing would make me happier than to see our greatest success story step up and reengage the workers of this country. Stop allowing the expenditures by the 99% of the USA, the ones who need to save the most, also be the leading contributor to bleeding our manufacturing sector simply because they need the low prices the most. Let's make America a manufacturing power-house again. Only one company has the power on its own to actually sbring about change, as it did during its inception when Sam was at the helm.

If the PSC members don’t do the job, Governor O’Malley should replace them with tough regulators who will. --- It has been about eight years now since the crisis at Pepco came to light, and as far as residents are concerned, nothing has changed. In fact, the problem has just gotten worse. The 2012 "derecho" storm is the worst yet, but the problem has been growing for years. In 2011, hundreds of thousands of Pepco customers were stranded without power after an ice storm. There were severe outages during storms in 2010, and 2008, and after Hurricane Isabel in 2003. In Maryland, utility companies are granted a monopoly in exchange for submitting to direct supervision by one agency, the “PSC” (Public Service Commission). The state regulators at the PSC are failing. The chairman of the PSC, Douglas Nazarian, has admitted that they were slow to recognize problems at Pepco. But he is still in charge of the PSC and so are the rest of the slow responders. Why? The PSC is an independent agency, but the Governor appoints its members and has the power to replace them. After years of failure, enough is enough. Its time to hold Pepco accountable.

My mother is a widow of a 30 year veteran of the King County Police force who died of MSA several years ago. She receives his pension and it and the health care he received as part of his compensation are the only reason that our family didn't go bankrupt during his final years. Funding cuts to law enforcement in our state are threatening to force Democratic candidates to cut pension programs in order to shore up budget shortfalls and would cut off my mother's pension right as she is going to retire.

It's time that the Residents of Coastal Sussex County get involved in assuring that there is always access to the Beaches, trails, fishing piers and all other amenities at Cape Henlopen State Park. Its time we start talking with our Representatives, Senators, Governor and The Vice President (His Name is immortalized within the Park. What are we asking them? WHO IN THE WORLD SAID "CLOSE THE PARK"? We are asking them "why in the world" would this massive park with miles of trails, miles of Ocean & Bay Front Beaches and Acres of Open Space, EVER BE CLOSED. Then we are asking them what they intend to do to provide the Funding to ensure that this is the last year that this happens. This park should never be closed, if they need more staff, then let's figure a way to get them there, if they need more parking, then lets find a way to create temporary overflow parking. Let's face it folks if you are going to "The Beach" is another 1/4 mile of walking going to stop you. OPEN THE PARK AT SUNRISE -SHUT IT DOWN AT SUNSET!

My neighbors have nowhere locally to shop for grocery items if Walgreen's comes here! We want to preserve the local pharmacies and jobs of the fired workers, and we need your help.

With Citizens United, the conservative Supreme Court expanded corporate political power by ruling that corporations could spend unlimited amounts of unregulated money to buy elections. However, last month, that same conservative Supreme Court restricted the power of organized labor by placing new requirements on how unions can spend money on political activity. According to a new ruling, unions must get opt-in permission from workers who are required to pay dues, but choose not to join the union, before those nonmember dues can be used for political purposes. This ruling overturned well-settled precedent, and gave anti-labor forces a victory well beyond what they were even seeking in the case before the court. Corporations and unions should face the same restrictions on using organizational money for political purposes. Tell Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid it's time for legislation requiring that corporations receive opt-in permission from shareholders before company funds can be used for political purposes.

Financial fraud, manipulation and malfeasance has become the standard operating procedure of the industry. A recent industry survey showed that more than 33% admitted that they have and will commit fraud to generate their personal income. As regulations get more complex, the regulators, SEC, CTFC, Fed simply cannot keep up with the gaming of the regulations by industry participants. I and many others have lost thousands with MFC Global and now Peregrine. Not a single banker or broker or executive has gone to jail. The industry simply pays a fine, that in comparison to their profits is minimal. It is time for real penalties to stop this fraud.
