Online retail giants should have to pay sales tax just like Main Street retailers do.Last week, the Marketplace Fairness Act passed the Senate with a resounding majority. Now the House needs to pass it. According to the Seattle Times, $422,5 million dollars in revenue annually is at stake for WA, and we need the only two representatives of Washington State who have not yet taken a position in support of this bill to argue for it in the US House GOP caucus.195 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Linda Brewster

Eliminate Student Debt with a Robin Hood Tax on Wall StreetCollege and University graduates in the United States today are drowning in insurmountable levels of student loan debt. This year, the Class of 2013 will graduate only to face some of the highest levels of student loan debt our country has ever seen. The average college graduate owes $23,300 after graduation - while unemployment rates continue to soar and college graduates are often unable to find work. A small tax on Wall Street transactions could eliminate the barrier of student loan debt for college graduates. A tax of 0.5% on stock trades and an even smaller tax on other financial instruments could yield up to $350 billion in new revenue per year. This money could be used to support federal student aid and grant programs. As young people conscious of the many social injustices our generation faces in the future, we recognize that revenue from this tax could also be used for job creation, healthcare development, education, environmental protection, and global health. We the undersigned - college students, recent graduates, and young professionals - call on our representatives in Congress to support Representative Keith Ellison's bill, HR 1579. This bill would enact a Robin Hood Tax on Wall Street and reduce the student loan debt that is crippling our chances of success.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Valerie Kiebala

Fair Wages for all, Not Just the Very PoorIt's not enough to just increase the minimum wage. In fact, it just brings us all closer to the poverty line! There's no reason that people with Master's degrees should be living check to check!1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Melanie Calder

Assisting HomeownersHomeowners are facing a financial crisis and are afraid of losing their home to foreclosure. Many have lost their jobs due to no fault of their own and are still unemployed. The banks were bailed out and the homeowners were left out. Wealthy donors make huge campaign donations to politicians, why not donate to a worthy cause, (helping a homeowner save their home).3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Stephanie Britt

Support an Increase in the NC Minimum WageMany people who are working full time are still living below the poverty level and need Government Assistance to get by. A modest increase to $8.00 would help many NC families meet their current needs and obligations.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by William Osborne

Proportional Benefits for Hours WorkedCurrently too many workers are limited by their employer in the number of hours they are allowed to work, so that the employer is not required to provide those benefits that are provided for full time employees who work forty hours or more. Under The Affordable Health Care Act for example, it is contemplated that many workers will be kept to under thirty (30) hours by their employer, who then is not required to provide the proposed benefits of Obama Care. Some individuals now work a number of different jobs totaling more than forty hours a week, but can never acquire the benefits that are paid to full time employees who work forty (40) hours or more a week for a single employer. Why should workers be penalized because employers "game" the system by keeping employees in a part time status to avoid providing benefits ? Some employers have even coerced employees to punch out while working so they will never attain full time status. Workers often have difficult work schedules. If workers were paid benefits proportional to the number of hours worked some of the inequity currently existing would disappear. Forty hours equals 100% of the employer provided benefits, twenty hours equals 50%, four hours equals 10% of the benefits. It is time to demand equity. Benefits should be proportional to the number of hours worked, not tied to the forty hour work week of the past.8 of 100 SignaturesCreated by David Neuendorff

Stop requiring credit checks for employmentAmerican citizens are frequently asked to sign a paper stating that they will allow a potential employer to check their credit. This is a invasion of privacy. The information should be considered private and personal. It does not benefit the employer as there are various reasons why a person may have a low credit score or bankruptcy, such as due to a job loss or catastrophic illness. We have just been through a major economic collapse. Employers have no business requiring this information and it needs to stop. We want a law passed making it illegal for employers to ask or obtain this information.112 of 200 SignaturesCreated by Karen Brubaker

Save Iraq Veteran/Hometown Hero's HomeAfter fighting for our homeland, he should have a home to come to. He bought this house so I could live with him and help raise his children. Due to divorce and my disability he could no longer afford to pay 259, 000 on a home that is now worth 70,000. The banks need to start working with families instead of taking their homes and selling them off to investors. My grandchildren are so sad they don't know where to come see Grandma. How do I tell them I am homeless. The shame and embarrassment of the sheriff coming to lock me out tomorrow May 12th on Mother's day is more than I can stand.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Sharon Fuentes

End the IRS Subsidy for Moving Jobs OverseasThe current IRS code gives a massive tax credit to multinational corporations that pay taxes to operate in foreign countries. Each year, over $100 billion dollars are lost to our treasury, and used to subsidize the offshoring of American jobs, at a time of 14% real domestic unemployment.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by R K Welch
