Do Not Cut Social SecurityI am a Social Security recipient. I, and my employers, paid into the system all of my working career. Those funds are should not be used to balance the federal budget!4,179 of 5,000 SignaturesCreated by John Cogswell

Stop the Chain CPI Cuts to Social SecurityPresident Obama has proposed cutting Social Security by lowering cost-of-living adjustments for current and future retirees and the disabled. These cuts, sometimes called "chained CPI," will hurt seniors and those who are disabled who have paid into the system for their whole lives and are already struggling with rising health care costs. It will also harm those like my daughter who is disabled who is not able to care for herself without assistance. We must help the elderly and those who cannot care for themselves, not to mention we have all paid into this system and it is being used as a way to manage debt that it does not cause. I must be kept separate and we must encourage our lawmakers to do what is right for the elderly and those who need our protection.5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Linda Higgins

If it's not broken, don't fix it!Recipients of Social Security have paid into it for their entire working lives. To accommodate baby-boomers and secure Social Security's longevity, the easiest and most fair fix is to eliminate the cap on income subjected to Social Security taxes. After all, why should a person whose annual income is approximately $107,000 or less pay Social Security taxes on 100% of her/his income, while one who earns approximately $400,000 pays Social Security taxes on only 1/4 of his/her income?11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cheryl Ede

Stop Cuts to Social SecurityI am a social worker and I see people everyday barely surviving due to disabilities and the benefits they get now are barely enough. Jobs for Youth and Jobs for All, NOW!The youth of our nation need economic stability. They are the future leaders, parents, workers, and thinkers of our country. They need good jobs to be able to contribute to society. Skyrocketing student debt, restrictive immigration policy, and the rising attacks on the labor movement have all limited young peoples' ability to find employment that will allow them to live in dignity. Latino and African American youth still face employment discrimination, causing genocidal levels of poverty in these communities that fuel the vicious cycles of gun violence and incarceration. Instead, youth could be part of rebuilding our nation's infrastructure, training to teach in our public schools, building community centers , and so much more. We say NO to the Sequester and endless other cutbacks that are being proposed under pressure from the 1%. We say YES to jobs legislation. We say YES to investment in our infrastructure, student support system, and immigration reform. Sign the petition to tell Congress and President Barack Obama we support jobs for youth and jobs for all, NOW!13 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lisa Bergmann

Voter approval for tax increase to support wartime activitiesI, like many Americans have been frustrated by the many Americans who are proudly "pro-war" but don't want to increase taxes for any reason, ever. How else do we pay for war? By cutting programs at home? I for one, supported by many, do not believe it is fair for politicians to decide to go to war and then please their constituents by not raising the necessary revenue to pay for it. We are in large part in the economic mess we are in now because of a decade-plus-long-war which was all paid for from borrowed money and contributed greatly to the current fiscal defecit. I believe if the "pro-war" Americans were responsible for actually paying for war by their own decision to support it, we would have a whole lot less of it. This helps strengthen our economy, gives us ownership of our decisions as a nation, and not to mention brings more peace and prosperity to America.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Katy Moon
