Protect the Stundents & Workers of San Francisco Community CollegeMy son Diego is a student at SF Community College. He is enrolled in a Library Science certificate program and only has a few units left to get is AA degree and transfer to a four year institution. My friend Allen is a union member who works at SF City College. he has been a valuable City employee for many years. The management has put the student and workers of San Francisco's Community College in harms way because of their incompetence at managing the funds for the College. It is possible that SF Community College could lose its accreditation and the school could close or if it stays open it is possible that students who are looking to transfer to four year institution will find that they cannot transfer their credits. San Francisco's City College is one of the institutions that is still affordable for workers like myself to send their children to. If it closes down, where will our children go? I ask for you support for the students and the workers of this important institution to continue their education and for the workers to continue to provide the important services for the students. Thank you Governor Brown & Speaker of the Assembly John A. Perez Gloria Sanchez San Bruno, CA2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Gloria Sanchez

Connectivity for rural citizensDeregulation permitted the communications industry to provide Internet service only to profitable markets, leaving rural areas with no connections. Our children in rural areas such as Glacier Washington cannot complete internet-based homework assignments. Fiber optic cable is very expensive and only Broadband type Internet connections are feasible in areas that are hilly, off the main roads, or in valleys.14 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dr. Joseph Garcia

Do not dismantle developmental education at the college level. The FL Legislature is considering disbanning developmental education at the college level. Developmental education at the college level opens the door to a college education for many students who otherwise would not have that opportunity. It is my guess that many FL legislators benefited from developmental education, but now they have become elitist and do not wish others to have that same opportunity.18 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kim Thomas

The Censure and Sanctioning of ITT Technical Institute and Other "For Profit" Educational Institu...I attended ITT Technical Institute and now owe over $96 thousand dollars for an Associates level education that has no extrinsic value. The school specializes in little more than high pressure sales, misleading information, "college credits" and "degrees" that are not transferable and coercion. They hurt the economy by knowingly offering a substandard product that effectively places most alumni in precarious and often dire financial situations. As a “for profit” school they should be held to the same standards as other businesses and “customers” should have the right to request a refund for reasons of: “Disputes Quality of Goods or Services”, “Defective/Not as Described” or “Services Not Rendered”. They should made accountable for poor business practices and taking advantage of students.29 of 100 SignaturesCreated by J.R. Bodenheimer

Honest educationOur children are more then numbers to fill seats in warehouses called school. We must require higher standards for educators, abolish no child left behind act and begin true education. Our children are not corporate slaves and tools for share holders. Let's create innovators, chemists, forerunners, by making sure that a whole education is not just good words imposed on student bodies. Educators are only the middle men the messengers if you will. While it is the publishers, collective tax dollars and community pooling that have a actual effect and say on what can and can't be taught. Tell congress to actually be for the people and let us decide in conjunction with non profits and corporations what our child's education should be, not the other way around.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Lolya Hall

Petition to re-take MTH060, Section 11 with Instructor Ralf YoutzPetitioning to be allowed to re-take MATH060 without charge. Instructor Ralf Youtz did not help us to the extent we needed and most of the class failed this required course. We need more help and he would not assist in our learning needs. Most students took full advantage of tutoring offered and still could not understand the course. We are asking to be allowed to take the course again at the cost of Mt. Hood Community College. We feel that Mt. Hood should be responsible because they did not train the teacher to teach the curriculum correctly or enforce the methods of teaching that would benefit its students. This instructor has been a problem and nothing has been done to improve his classes. We do not feel we have enough knowledge to move on to the next class.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cherry Wagner

Student Loan ReliefStudent loan debt has reached a trillion dollars. The interest rates make it virtually impossible to pay them off in a timely manner. It shouldn't take 30 years to pay off 8 years of college. The government guarantees these loans, and the banks, that have recorded record profits 3 years in a row, are more than happy to service these loans. The banks have done nothing to earn this business, yet have sucked billions of dollars out of the economy.71 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Kevin Connett

Student Loan ReliefStudent loan debt has reached a trillion dollars. The interest rates make it virtually impossible to pay them off in a timely manner. In 12 years I have paid over $60,000 on these loans, and over $40,000 has went to interest. It shouldn't take 30 years to pay off 8 years of college. "Yes" to public schools; "No" to voucher expansionDon't be misled by the education reform movement. Public schools in Indiana are not failing! They have been steadily improving over the last 20 years. The Indiana Coalition for Public Education supports focusing public tax dollars on the K-12 education of public school students and opposes legislation that funds private school vouchers. That's why we're organizing a Statehouse Rally March 19.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Marilyn Shank

Reinstate Military Tuition AssistanceAs a result of sequestration the Department of Defense has cut funding for programs that are critical to the personal and professional development of American service members. Thousands of men and women rely on tuition assistance to pay for their education while they serve. These budget cuts cannot be tolerated. http://www.defense.gov/news/newsarticle.aspx?id=119510 http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/03/12/tuition-assistance-us-airmen_n_2861442.html?utm_hp_ref=college28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cait Emmons
