Support Contraception Education in South CarolinaApproximately 17 teens give birth in South Carolina everyday and in 2008 the state paid approximately $198 million dollars on teen pregnancy. Teen mothers are more likely to live in poverty and survive on public assistance. Contraceptive education can help to prevent these issues. These are the facts: (from the SC Campaign to Prevent Teen Pregnancy) *6,024 teens aged 15-19 gave birth in 2011 *26% of these were already teen parents *20% of teen pregnancies in 2010 ended in abortion *57% percent of high school students have reported that they have had sex Endorsing a comprehensive sexual education program that includes abstinence but also promotes proper contraception use can benefit the cause of ending teen pregnancy.325 of 400 SignaturesCreated by Virginia Hornbeck

VA Beach Public Schools - Add Lacrosse to school sportsAs many school systems across the country and state are considering downsizing or eliminating middle or high school sports programs, the sport of lacrosse, which is both a male and female team sport, should be taken into consideration to add to all public VA Beach middle and high schools. Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport among high school programs across the country and in Virginia. One of the finest public institutions of higher education in the state, Univ of VA, has a top 5 men's and ladies lacrosse team, and the men won the NCAA National Championship two years ago. Although public High School systems in Northern VA and Richmond now offer school sponsored lacrosse programs, Hampton Roads does not, and VA Beach which is the largest city in the state and one of the largest school systems in the state, does not offer lacrosse as a VHSL team sponsored sport. More youth between the ages of 10 - 18 play lacrosse than participate in wrestling, gymnastics, tennis, volleyball, or golf. We need to add this sport NOW to compete with the Northern VA and Richmond area school systems as well as the private schools.2,219 of 3,000 SignaturesCreated by Kim Savage

School Board: Don't Cut Macon Early CollegeAs a student of Macon Early College, I know how much of a difference this school has made, not only to me, but to several other people who would not have had an opportunity like this. Our education should be top priority for the School Board, so why do they want to cut an important program like this? Please sign by March 15th! Pass it on!1,369 of 2,000 SignaturesCreated by Emily Ritter

Phillip Precourt Don't cut EducationEducation had been cut far too much in this state. I am a newly certified educator who is considering a move out of New York upon completion of my Masters Degree in August. This makes me sick, but I simply must go where I can get a job in my desired field. As a father I also have great concerns about the future of New York schools. Now one of the best in the nation, but with more significant cuts looming will the same be said in the future? Please consider cutting your pay and doing your share before curing from an industry that develops the future of your state. Do not let more and more teachers go unemployed.6 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Phillip Precourt

UNITED STATES HISTORYI WAS BORN IN 1934. HISTORY WAS UNKIND TO ME AT THAT TIME AND IT STILL IS. THE SCHOOLS I ATTENDED WERE TAUGHT BY TEACHERS WHO HAD VERY LITTLE EDUCATION . THEIR EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS WAS THE COLOR OF THEIR SKIN. THE HISTORY BOOKS WE UTILIZED WERE USED BY THE WHITE SCHOOLS FIRST AND HAD PAGES PURPOSELY TORN OUT. THE ONE MONTH A YEAR OF BLACK HISTORY IS NOT ENOUGH. THERE WERE BLACK PEOPLE HERE BEFORE COLUMBUS CAME..WE NEED THIS ISSUE FIXED TO SAVE THE EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM.AND REMOVE THE INFERIORITY COMPLEX FROM OUR CHILDREN"S VIEW.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by MARY L. Return Your College Degree For A RefundIf your degree is costing you money every month but not opening up opportunities and increasing your salary, then why not get a refund? For-Profit Universities sell their degrees on the premise of increased wages and career opportunities; however, no one imposes any sanctions on them to deliver these promises. I firmly believe 'Lemon Law', etc. should be extended to a college degree. Many Universities are making promises they can't deliver (and don't intend to), and if their product was a car, etc. they would be in court every day for false advertising, selling a lemon, and practically stealing from eager students. Counselors at a For Profit School I attended promised me (via email, advertisements, and word of mouth) ridiculous career advancements and a starting $50k annual salary; however, after completing my bachelors I am still at the same job. Nearly two years have passed, hundreds of applications completed, and all I have to show for it is a $65k plus bill which costs over $600 monthly. I am a public servant and cannot afford a home because of this raising my debt to income level too high. My story is not a new one and I am certain there are hundreds of thousands of us, if not millions. Let us return our degree and call it even. We will not claim to have a bachelors degree or even mention attending a University. We return the degree and all its merits and get our debt resolved i.e. a full refund. This is a fair proposal.400 of 500 SignaturesCreated by Jaymes

Dance Team PetitionQueen Anne's County High School doesn't have a dance team, but Kent Island High School does. For years, the two schools had a combined Ice Hockey Team, and our goal is to allow students from Queen Anne's to be able to go to Kent Island to create one combined Dance Team.9 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tasha Haight
