Homework effecting kids

This petition is to bring science and not religion into the Louisiana public school curriculum. Allowing arguments based on opinion and faith, and a basic disregard for acknowledged science harms our children's ability to compete in biology, medicine and genetics, when it comes to their future college studies and careers.

Education funding and funding for trio we need it so stop cutting it Why dont you all take huge cuts out of your pay and see how we have to live.

The lack of time that a teacher has to educate a student is insufficient. We need a program of tutoring for students to have assistance in the sciences and mathematics, that some parents do not have the ability to assist their child in understanding.

TRiO Programs all over the State of West Virginia and our great Nation are facing a 5% decrease in funding on March 1, 2013. TRiO programs, like Upward Bound, Student Support Services, ect. are specifically geared toward helping low-income and first generation students succeed in their educational efforts and go/remain in college or any type of higher education.

Dear Parents, NYC public schools are in dire need of more government funding. Instead, we are seeing systematic cuts year after year. This means greater class size and less classroom resources. This puts enrichment subjects--dance, music, art, science, library--at risk. --Our children deserve better! Help us send a message to elected officials to stop school budgets cuts! --Tell City Hall and the education chancellor that we must INVEST in our kids' future! no not now but my daughter will be attending school next year and i want her to eat healthy and i think vending machines should have more fruits and veggies in them so the kids can be buying healthier snacks.

Public education is suffering due to a lack of books, curriculum being cut, such as, physical education, and the arts, and a lack of courses to ensure that all students have access to a good education that will allow them to go to a college or university upon completion of high school. Our children's education should be our top priority, and the budget should reflect that we are a state that cares about our students. I remember when your father was in office as governor and he set education as a high priority. California was first in the nation at that time leading every other state when it came to education. If you follow in your father's footsteps California can lead the nation in education of its students again.

This book Club will be one of many different clubs already present at Providence High school. It is beneficial to the students at said school in many ways like: Expanding the child's vocabulary Opening said student up to new genres of reading and Introducing them to other students at the school where they can form life long friendships.

What’s made the bill controversial is a provision for criminal penalties–a fine of up to $2,000 or a jail term of up to a year–for parents .. "-Given that students with special health needs often miss chunks of school, this is a poor idea. There is a fundamental misunderstanding of how health issues impact children with asthma, diabetes, bipolar, leukemia, sleep disturbances, autism with severe anxiety, and school phobia. Parents overall do not make these issues up. They are real and require medical management. There are not even sufficient medical public health nurses to create IEP medical plans. Truancy charges against special needs children are discriminatory and even if a parent has all the medical excuses, parents are still having CPS called on them. This is not acceptable." "-I agree. I believe the wrong people are being targeted and charged with truancy. I have 3 kids, 2 have asthma and are always sick and missing school. I was brought into a meeting last year and put on a contract, forcing my child to go to school even when sick because I had too many excused absences, for which I have provided a doctors note. This resulted in my son developing pneumonia and was hospitalized for a week. The 2nd day his asthma and pneumonia was so bad I had 5 doctors working on my son debating whether or not to put him in ICU. Talk about scary….Education is very important to me, I want the best for my kids, but if they’re sick, they’re sick. Yet I’m told excused absences are excessive. My doctor disagrees, they’re telling me my child is too sick to be in school and is concerned about illnesses like the flu and strep throat being spread. Who will protect me and my kids? Any illness results in asthma being triggered and I know I am not the only parent who is being told they have to send their kids to school no matter what! It’s ridiculous. In addition I was told me being hospitalized was not a valid excuse for my kids to miss 1 day. The closest family member I had to care for my kids was not local and did not have the transportation to get them to school. My kids were truant? I don’t think so!"

This petition hopes to gain support and momentum for a STEAM-based learning approach into the core curriculum by including the "A" for "arts" into the present standard of STEM. As an artist educator, I witness innovation that grows from creative thinking and making processes, incorporating all aspects of science, math, and technology through authentic inspired problem solving methods. The Congressional STEAM Caucus is a giant step toward creating meaningful educational practice that leads to inspired and innovative minds.
