• LIFE SKILLS STRATAGIES
In order to progress in life we need more than just basic subjects we need to be taught the correct way to cope with life and handle difficult situations that we face on a daily basis. I believe that if we instill these skills into our youth, it will help prevent addictions, criminal behavior and gang Violence. Thank You Ilana Calderon

  • Please-No Guns Mandated for Texas Schools
I am asking that the Texas Legislators Not pass new laws to require Texas teachers to carry guns or take mandated training- as these new laws are extremely dangerous, unnecessary, and place an additional burden on teachers. In addition, funding these proposed new laws is just an additional way to drain monies away from our already underfunded school budgets for academics in order to promote gun sales or training programs. for a few in the business community! at the expense of students/teachers/parents and taxpayers.

  • VISD: Keep the current trimester schedule at VHS
Reasons you should want a trimester schedule: 1) More electives 2) More credits on graduation, making students more competitive when applying to higher education. (70 minute periods make the credits work out to the state requirements) 3) There's no middle/high school mixing. (High School is then different, making it an exciting new challenge for Middle Schooler's, and something to look forward to.) 4) Classes that are 2/3 of year turn into full year in semesters, forcing students to take classes they do not enjoy for longer, and thusly creating a resistance to learning. People like change in classes for more exciting experience. 5) Tris are longer classes. Therefore students have more work time with teacher assistance and better labs. 6) Having semesters is not popular among students, or parents. This means less money is donated because of less support to school district, and commuters won't want to come, losing the district even more money. The parents of commuters and the commuters students like Vashon because it's unique, it has a ton of interesting electives, and semesters makes less uniqueness and less electives.

  • Save Mr. Holley
Mr. Holley is currently one of two band directors at Thomas Dale High School. He recently received news that he is being transferred to another school. Mr. Holley has been with Thomas Dale for 8 years and has built the band program to its highest point. He has spent years and years building it to be known as the Specialty Center For Music! He is being cut from dale because the County thinks there is no need for 2 band teachers. The band program is very large and is getting 50 times larger next year. Mr. Holley does not want to leave. He is the best teacher that you can find. He has inspired so many people and has and continues to be my inspiration. Please help me save his job and take a minute to sign the petition every signature counts! THANKS!

  • Hold the CdA School Board Accountable for Unethical Decision-Making
The CdA School Board of Trustees made a sudden decision to remove PYP, a successful, community-funded program, from Hayden Meadows Elementary School without due diligence. The manner in which they made their decision violated their own code of ethics, demonstrated discrimination and fiscal irresponsibility, and violated Idaho's Open Meeting Law. We believe they should be held accountable for their unethical actions. We petition the board with this grievance to give them an opportunity to reverse their decision and proceed in an ethical manner that is consistent with district and state policy and procedures.

  • School Lunches
I believe that the school lunches are disgusting. "There were only a few spots on the burger that wasn't gray!" Exclaimed Hailey Wood after taking a bite into a burger Monday, March 11th. Most of the kids don't even eat there lunch. They just look at it and throw it away. The other problem with the school lunches are that the high school students get as much lunch as the preschoolers. We need better school lunches.

  • No cuts to education
All Americans deserve a quality education. Education is the only service provided to all Americans that helps them with their future and their dreams. In Illinois and other states there are people who want to cut education funding. This is wrong!
