Soils are degrading as a result of poor agricltural practices such as overuse, single crop agriculture, and over use of synthetic fertilizers. This will lead to a decrease in agricultural productivity at a time when there is an increase in the world's need for food. I may also lead to problem like the "dust bowl" and increased desertification.

Consumers have the right to know what they eat, and not enough is known about genetically-modified plants and their impact on the human body and on the environment. The number of GMO foods in the U.S. is growing at an alarming pace and we should be able to choose food whose source is known and certified to be organic.

Hemp is an alternative crop that can be farmed with little or no chemicals and is a sustainable natural resource that can replace the harmful processes of deforestation, strip mining, paper pulping and fracking. Its many uses include oil for fuel and plastics, paper, the strongest natural fiber in the world for textiles and building materials, and a nutritious food source. This fast growing crop used to be grown by farmers nationwide, and could resuscitate the depleted earth and the farms of this country. Global warming increases with rising CO2 levels in the atmosphere. Especially in the last few years, huge forest and range fires have put thousands of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere. Better management of federal lands west of the front range of the Rockies could reduce this threat.

Geoengineering is the practice of using mechanical and chemical methods of altering the weather patterns. One popular method is mixing aluminum with jet fuel. When the engines of jets--passenger, cargo or military--burn that fuel at altitude, the aluminum is ejected with the exhaust and it creates a cloudy streak called a chemical trail, also known as a chemtrail. Aluminum in large air quantities is toxic, and over time, it can lead to many crippling diseases such as lung cancer and Alzheimer ’s disease. However, neither the EPA nor anyone in Washington is addressing this issue.

Leaf blowers are widely considered one of the worst, most obnoxious inventions of all time. They are noisy, polluting, create toxic dust storms and contribute to CO2 buildup in the atmosphere. Their costs far outweigh their benefits and we can easily live without them.

As students of Eastern High School in Louisville Kentucky we have recently been introduced to the devastating problems facing our national forests. After reading the book "A Walk in the Woods" by Bill Bryson it was drawn to our attention the little effort the US Forest Service was providing in solving the issues. In fact much of the funding was used inappropriately for things such as the timber industry and roads, hurting our beautiful woods. Though the Forest Service has recently improved with the "Roadless Law" we believe that our country can do much better!

It is a sad shame. Wake up to beautiful blue skies. Get in your truck and look up. A chem trail here, a chem trail there until they crisscross to produce a chem trail soup. Now the beautiful blue sky is a haze of white chemical, biological, hazardous muck designed to HELP mankind. Come on now. Let's be real. Stop the harm being forced upon the inhabitants of EARTH.

I am so frustrated that every single thing I buy at the grocery store comes wrapped in non-biodegradable plastic materials that are harmful for the environment. I want a world where we don't damage the planet with every purchase we make.
