• Close down Vermont Yankee
Yankee's plant is one of the oldest in the world: its infrastructure is precariously decrepit and in need of urgent repair. The plant's $100 million condenser needs to be replaced immediately and, according to Arnie Gunderson, speaking at Richmond's Free Public Library in VT back in November of '09, Yankee's turbine-pull rotates in a fashion that when it malfunctions, shrapnel is shot back toward the reactor containment box. This too needs to be replaced. VT Yankee has had radiation leaks time and again. There has been more than one leak at Yankee because of its aging, wooden infrastructure. In fact, in just the initial two years of operating, the plant had to be shut down seventeen times -- radioactive gases exceeding legal limits were pouring out. In July of 1976, 86,000 gallons of radioactive tritium spilled into the Connecticut River. In 1980 a thousand gallons of radioactive water spilled on the plant floor. Incidents like these rack up to well over a dozen. At the beginning of 2009, two pipes leaking radioactive water and steam were reported. And then there was a leak in April, and another in the condenser was discovered in June. In 2002, the USNRC (the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission) reported that 47 percent of facility employees are afraid to report safety issues to management. let's tell our representatives that we do not want to put our families lives at risk and risk future generation because of this irresponsible and dangerous industry.

  • Save Gallitzin State Forest from Industrial Wind Development
Pennsylvania's state forests should be managed for pure water, recreation, scenic beauty, plant and animal habitat, and sustainable timber. Industrial wind turbine projects should not be constructed on state forest lands. While Gallitzin State Forest in Cambria and Somerset Counties does have areas that were mined, many trees have been planted to reclaim this damaged land. Plant trees, not turbines!

  • Top Five Free Energy Technologies Unfolding Now
An age of free energy is rapidly approaching. As we speak, multiple companies are preparing the technologies that will make energy abundant, cheap, and extremely low cost. The most exotic of these technologies are poised to bring an end to the age of fossil fuels, by allowing energy to be produced in radically novel ways. All of this is taking place with very little, or even no coverage by the mainstream media. They are sneaking up on the world, with relatively very few people paying attention. For more info. about these New and Free Energy Technologies go to : Top Five Free Energy Technologies Unfolding Now | Wake Up World wakeup-world.com

  • Shut Down Vermont Yankee
VT Yankee is an old plant, and it has had some very, very dangerous mishaps. A plant like this should not be in operation, even according to the Nuclear Regulatory Committee (NRC). It's leaking into our ground water and right into the Connecticut River. It needs to be safely shut down before it is shut down due to a horrible disaster. Please sign this and pass it on.

  • Stop the subsidies for ethanol from corn.
The federal government subsidies the companies who produce ethanol from corn. The proponents of this subsidy erroneously believe that use of corn bases ethanol is environmentally friendly, when it has been scientifically proven that the production and use of corn based ethanol in gasoline has a negative effect on the environment. It also drives up the price of corn, beef and pork to the consumer.

  • Last Chance to Act on the Open-Pit Mining Bill!
The Senate has put the worst imaginable version of the open-pit mining bill (AB 426) on the fast track. It rolls back environmental protections, quiets the voice of citizens, and forces tax payers to pay for the mining company costs. We may have just days to stop it. The good news is that we are well positioned to do just that. Ask your Senator to oppose the open-pit mining bill TODAY!

  • STOP PEBBLE MINE IN BRISTOL BAY
This has now moved into the permitting phase! NOW is the time to voice your opinions against this large-scale open pit mine that would be built above the worlds largest salmon runs, the main source of fresh salmon and other seafoods for the seafood industries of the world. This is also about the preservation of a wilderness and wildlife that Alaskan citizens, U.S. citizens and the world have a right to enjoy intact, along with future generations.

  • Reclaim Bees, Hemp & Organic Family Farms
Chemical Agriculture is the smoking gun over lost pollinators. DuPont, Monsanto et.al. have damaged sustainable family farming leading to bad water, bleached soil and tainted crops that infect natural food strains while further exploiting global populations with food copywriting, effectively 'snuffing out' non-chemical farmers. Reinvesting in natural seed banks, portioning out land for soil reclamation and promoting smaller size farmsteading can reinvigorate a sustainable agriculture.

  • Solar Energy at home
I believe our best source of energy should come from the sun but to use the deserts is all wrong. Using the deserts destroys the open space and homes for the wildlife, not only the sites but the corridors serving them. This system has to bring the energy many miles from the desert to the cities that use it. The logical way is to create the power in the city on the roof tops of private and public buildings, the shortest distance. A good example is the Los Angeles county building in North Hollywood on Van Nuys Blvd. which has been there for years. There is no need to destroy our dwindling open space.
