Tell the FDA to label genetically engineered foods!Genetically engineered foods are appearing on supermarket shelves with increasing frequency. While the scientific debate about the benefits and risks of genetically engineered crops is vigorous and unlikely to reach a consensus anytime soon, you have a right to know what you are eating now. Stand with EWG and the Just Label It campaign today and sign our petition to the FDA demanding that genetically engineered foods are labeled!59 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Ken Cook

Say No to Tar Sand OilIt seems that our representatives do not want to hear what we have to say about the Keystone XL pipeline. OK, maybe the oil companies will. If the pipeline is included in legislation, I would like the bill to also include a provision that any oil company using the tar sand oil must disclose as much in labeling. I would be willing to pay extra to be sure that tar sand oil is not going into my tank. Let's show them other people feel this way, too.28 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Tom Caffery, P.E.

Natural gas from waste vs frackingMethane gas also known as natural gas is produced in sewerage, land fills, animal waste and rotted vegetable matter. It is environmentally friendly as it makes use of waste and as a byproduct produces energy and excellent fertilizer. President Obama: Reform Environmental Impact AssessmentEnvironmental impact assessments – supposed to predict the likely impacts of proposed projects on the environment under laws like the U.S. National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) are today routinely performed by for-profit consulting firms working for the proponents of the projects whose impacts they are supposed to predict. As a result, they are often if not always biased toward minimizing project impacts, though often only after extensive, expensive, sometimes unnecessary study. Critical public comments on such assessments are routinely dismissed without serious consideration. This leads to disasters like the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe. The system badly needs reform.637 of 800 SignaturesCreated by Thomas F. King

Protect Maine's North Woods From Reckless DevelopmentIf you've been to Maine's North Woods, you know what's at stake. Generations of Mainers have learned to love the outdoors while exploring Maine's 10 million acres of open space—from the Rangeley Lakes to Moosehead Lake to Mount Katahdin. But Governor Paul LePage is threatening to destroy the North Woods as we know it by letting counties drop out of the Land Use Regulation Commission, which protects the North Woods from reckless development. A committee has already started considering the bill.5,059 of 6,000 SignaturesCreated by Alexandra Fields

Big Birds & Big Views, Not Big Towers on Brockway MountainA cell phone tower has been proposed for Brockway Mountain in Copper Harbor, Michigan. While we recognize the need to provide cell coverage to Michigan's northernmost community, particularly for emergency services, we believe that the proposed tower site and height of the tower should be reconsidered. In addition to being one of the most scenic locations in the Midwest--if not country--and a tourist destination to travelers of all ages and backgrounds, Brockway Mountain is the final stopping point for 14,000 raptors of 17 species, including bald eagles, golden eagles, and peregrine falcons, before traversing Lake Superior during their springtime migration. The peak of the proposed tower would loom nearly 750 feet above Lake Superior, 220 feet above the mountaintop. Instead of the familiar ridge line along the southern edge of the mountain, motorists traveling north on US-41 would be greeted by the tower's massive self-supporting prominence and flashing beacons. We agree with county officials, residents, and visitors that public safety should be priority number one. We submit, however, that emergency services and cell coverage in general can be provided to Copper Harbor and the surrounding area in a less invasive manner--to humans and wildlife alike--through a number of shorter towers located on nearby and less culturally significant hilltops and/or by other means. We ask that the proposed Brockway tower be relocated and height of the proposed tower be reconsidered before one of Michigan's great natural landmarks is compromised. Don't settle for the cheapest, easiest cell company offer. Please protect our treasure.3,579 of 4,000 SignaturesCreated by Friends of Brockway Mountain
