• Illegalize styrofoam in California
Styrofoam has run its course. There are many other materials that can be used in its place without the toxic side-effects for the planet (such as molded cardboard and corn starch "peanuts", paper plates, paper cups, etc.). Businesses and individuals can use other materials, whether it be for take-out, package insulation, serving drinks or foods warm, etc. If you're looking forward to not having styrofoam floating at the mouths of rivers, in storm drains, or around dumpsters anymore, and if you want to make sure wild animals don't mistake it for food anymore (and of course, there's the ozone hole...), join me to illegalize styrofoam in California.

  • No Cost Analog Meters
Smart meters are being rolled out despite being a class 2b carcinogen, causing heart arrhythmia, head ache, other health problems and invasion of privacy. Private military organizations and utilities were awarded 3.4 billion to implement smart meters and smart grid against peoples wishes and behind the false premise of "green". We should be able to choose if we want our privacy invaded and if we want to expose ourselves to carcinogens. This invades our Constitutional rights to privacy, liberty and life. NO MORE CANCER, NO MORE TRAMPLING ON OUR CONSITUTION!

  • ban leaf blowers
I think we should ban leaf blowers. Because they blow up mold spores etc which severely affect asthma and allergy sufferers. They are also environmentally damaging, from both the kerosene fumes etc to the fact the also blow up new dirt and things birds & bugs eat and make cause for chemical fertilizers.

  • Fee and Dividend Carbon Tax
Put a tax on fossil fuels at their source based on the amount of CO2 they would emit when burned. Return the revenue to US citzens or use part of it to pay down the national debt. Use a lot of fossil fuels, you pay more than your dividend. Use less fossil fuels and you get a check that's greater than your added cost due to the tax.

  • Replace Street and Highway Incandescent Bulbs with Light Emmitting Diodes (L.E.D.'s)
L.E.D.'s use less energy, are brighter, and have no toxic components, unlike incandescent and Compact Fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. This will save energy while providing a brighter and cleaner light with no environmental impact .

  • Demand a Moratorium on oil and gas leasing in the North Fork Valley of Colorado
Colorado has seen a unprecedented boom in gas drilling, much of this using potentially risky production techniques such as fracking. Living communities all across the state have been significantly impacted and many heavily damaged by these activities. The North Fork Valley is famous for its agriculture, viticulture, cheese production and ranching, much of an organic nature. 30,000 acres are slated to be leased all around this beautiful valley, including in its vital watersheds and directly above many viable agricultural areas. We demand that the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) recognize the unique characteristics of this valley and place a moratorium on leasing in and around it at least until the BLM completes the full Resource Management Plan for the region.

  • WalkBikeTransit Pledge
Transportation is the fastest growing source of greenhouse gases in the United States. Biking, walking, taking the train or bus, and using other, more sustainable forms of transportation are healthier and more affordable than driving, and will reduce our contribution to climate change and global food insecurity. We are pledging to leave our cars at home and use sustainable transportation at least once a week. We are also calling on Governor Malloy to join us by supporting and funding sustainable transportation options. *WalkBikeTransit is a grassroots campaign dedicated to reducing local contributions to global climate change and food insecurity. • Stop the styrofoam Publix: Use sustainable packaging for veggies
Publix supermarkets continue to package numerous vegetables and fruits in Styrofoam tray packaging. As the largest supermarket chain in Florida, this creates a large amount of non-recyclable trash. Please join me in urging Publix to switch to recyclable and sustainable packaging for all of its produce.

  • Stop Subsidizing Conventional Farming, Subsidize Organic Instead
Billions of tax dollars are spent on farm subsidies every year. While these subsidies may originally have helped small farmers, they are now helping huge factory farms and big business to poison the American population with toxic food like corn fed beef, polyunsaturated vegetable oils, high fructose corn syrup and corn, soy and wheat fillers. The economic and health consequences of this are huge. If we took the current funding for farm subsidies and re-directed this to subsidizing organic farming instead, this would help the environment and economy by supporting small, sustainable farming practices, and improve our national health by providing affordable access to healthy food to American families.
