  • No Regrets in November, Secure our Elections Now
On November 7, 2018, we don’t want to be wringing our hands thinking the election results were fishy, but there’s no way to recount or check if the results were right. In order to have secure elections we need: - Paper: Paper ballot and scanner voting systems - Audits: A check to ensure the vote totals reported by scanners actually match the paper ballots that voters cast - Secure Voter Rolls: Secure voter registration databases with paper back ups We know what we need to do, but in far too many states, election officials at the state and local level need funding and political will to make it happen. Tell your election officials it’s time to secure the vote.

  • A Petition for Congress to Censure Donald J. Trump
The Congress of the United States should censure Donald J. Trump for his rhetoric employed against immigrants. Employing the word "infest" is similar to the rhetoric used by fascists and other authoritarians. It has no place in a Democracy.

  • Mayor Endicott: Redmond City Council Needs a Cultural Advisory & Diversity Council
Our City Council vision states, "The City of Redmond will be a model for Northwest communities by being innovative in the creation of a high quality of life, ample family wage jobs and a safe environment in which to raise and educate families." In October of 2017, Redmond constituents emailed and met with City Councilors to share community experiences with racism and racial microaggression in Redmond. We attended Council meetings and asked Council to show commitment by joining a non-partisan, non-profit organization that has road-mapped how to successfully engage immigrants and refugees INTO the heart of a community. The Council said no, primarily because of 1) an up to $200/year membership fee and 2) fear of possible political ramifications. Further, in a recorded Council workshop that took place October 17, 2017, Council members including our Mayor, made dismissive commentary in consideration of this request, such as, "We do feel welcoming, but we don't need to belong to an organization to prove it." "I don't see the need for it." and "Are we going to do one for pets next, because I want all pets to feel welcome, too." They seemed distracted by language and lingo, as opposed to the heartfelt testimony of citizens who'd done their best to clarify their personal experiences and concerns. (Addendum: Instead of committing to actionable items to further engage diverse community members into city process, they passed a Proclamation of Redmond as "a community where all people feel welcome." This proclamation is visible on Page 3, Exhibit 5 at: https://docs.google.com/gview?url=https%3A%2F%2Fredmond-or.granicus.com%2FDocumentViewer.php%3Ffile%3Dredmond-or_f32f65ee-704b-4e41-9bcc-7b814287395f.pdf%26view%3D1&embedded=true) Community members continue to voice grave concerns about Redmond's spirit of equity. We do not desire dismissal and jokes; we desire actions of commitment to inclusion and equity for Redmond, Oregon residents who are vulnerable to discrimination every day. An advisory committee or board would ensure these concerns are not swept aside without dedicated response and actions to strengthen the spirit of equity in Redmond, Oregon.

  • Protect the 2018 Elections
In 2016, the Justice Department and all of our intelligence agencies reported that agents of the Russian government interfered in the election. Virtually nothing has been done. We need to ensure that our 2018 elections are secure.

  • $10,000 for a Toilet Seat Cover? Tell Congress to Stop Corrupt Defense Contracts
Remember the 1982 $600 Air Force toilet seat? Thanks to Will Roper, USAF Assistant Secretary for Acquisition, Technology and Logistics, we now have an on-the-record update--the current price is $10,000 and that's just for the cover. Americans were outraged in 1982 when they learned that the Pentagon was paying $600 for a toilet seat (both parts) and the Pentagon and Congress swore up and down they would get things under control. Well now it’s 30 years later and this scandal has gotten 10 times worse. But the toilet is just the tip of the iceberg. The reality is that the Pentagon is so cozy with defense contractors that this kind of corruption runs rampant. And they’re getting fat with taxpayer money. The first step is to let Congress know that we’re wise to them and that we’re not going to take it anymore. And the way to begin is to sign this petition and pass it on. • Chris Collins Must Debate Nate McMurray
Chris Collins has not had a debate in 6 years, since the 2012 race against Kathy Hochul. That's three election cycles. American democracy is a marketplace of ideas. Voters deserve to hear both candidates challenged on the issues in order to make an informed decision come November.

  • Bradley Byrne, NRA money
Bradley Byrne receives monetary support from the NRA which affects his votes vis-a-vis gun laws. Alabama has loose laws and many gun lovers. THere are multiple gun shows with no accountability not to mention a strong KKK fanction alive and active. My granddaughters are in Mobile Public Schools where little kindergartners and first and second graders have to have SHOOTER Drills.

  • Choose Rep. Litesa Wallace as Executive Director of the Democratic Party of Illinois
This week Tim Mapes resigned as Executive Director of DPI at the request of DPI Chair Michael J. Madigan. A member of Madigan's staff accused Mapes of making inappropriate remarks to her and of ignoring complaints of sexual harassment by lawmakers and others that were brought to his attention by House staffers. This is the latest in a long string of harassment, intimidation, and cover-up allegations made against DPI staff and ILGA members. Wholesale change in leadership is necessary to transform this toxic culture. Rep. Wallace is an advocate for working families and is not part of the Chicago political machine. She’ll lead the way in helping to restore the trust of DPI staff, local party members, and the general public. She’s a therapist and educator by profession who currently represents Illinois’ 67th legislative district. She served as a delegate for Hillary Clinton at the DNC in 2016 and helped the Biss/Wallace ticket earn the support of Bernie Sanders supporters across the state and the endorsement of Our Revolution. She is committed to a strong statewide party and a better future for all. Other committee members who will vote on the final decision are the State Central Committeewomen - Michelle Harris, Robin Kelley, Silvana Tabares, Cynthia Santos, Nancy Shepherdson, Cristina Castro, Lauren Beth Gash, Julia Kennedy Beckman, Kathy West, Jayne Mazzotti, Kristina Zahorik, Vivian Robinson, Christine Benson, Kate Jennings, and Shirley McCombs. • Tell Bigoted Irmo, South Carolina Mayor to Resign
Tell Bigoted Irmo, South Carolina Mayor to Resign Hardy King, the Mayor of Irmo, South Carolina is unapologetically posting bigoted memes and links on his Facebook account. In a story posted in the Daily Beast, King seems proud of his history of anti-Muslim, anti-immigrant, pro-Confederacy and racist Facebook posts. He told Columbia TV station WLTX, “If it causes some terrorist grief I do not apologize, nor do I believe they give a rip. If it caused some liberal troll to go bonkers, so what.” One of his anti-immigrant posts includes “Facts!” such as: • “95% of Warrants issued for Murder in Los Angeles are for Illegals” • “More than 66% of ALL births in California are to Illegals on Medi-Cal.” Of course, none of these “facts” are true. A mayor has to represent all of the people in her or his community. Hardy King has proven that he does not care about the minority groups in Irmo. It is clear that he cannot do the job of mayor. Sign our petition to Irmo Mayor Hardy King: “Bigotry has no place in modern American society. We demand that you resign as Mayor of Irmo immediately.”
