Limiting the number of terms congress & senate can serve to two terms, the same as the presidency. We have the most unproductive congress in the history of this country and they have proven why these angry old men should not be in charge of anything. This group of old angry birds are not concerned about the betterment of the country but a power struggle with the president. Limit their terms so that we can always have people willing to work for this country.

President Obama has announced three nominees to fill critical vacancies on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, widely regarded as the nation’s second most influential court. We can't let Republicans filibuster and get away with more obstruction! This isn’t just about GOP senators obstructing the D.C. Circuit. It’s about ALL the federal courts, including the Supreme Court. And it’s about confirming executive branch appointees like labor secretary, the head of the EPA, and the director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

My husband is affected by the furlow, while the taxpayers pay for the IRS employees (and I am sure others) to take "team building vacations". Think of the total cost of all the Governement Departments that do this.

According to the Congressional Research Service the Republican majority in the House of Representatives has spent 80 hours of House floor business and nearly $50 million tax payer dollars holding 37 votes to repeal Obama's Health Care Act. They knew beforehand that ALL of these votes would fail but they called for them anyway. This is an obvious and blatant waste of both the taxpayer time and money.

Governor Cuomo has shown he can make things happen when he wants to, but he’s not exercising his legendary influence right now for fair elections. The governor is arguably the most powerful man in the state of New York - certainly in the New York Democratic Party. Though the governor is on record in support of a fair elections bill, this handful of obstructionist Democratic Senators couldn't possibly block this legislation if Governor Cuomo made it a true priority. The governor needs to hear from someone who's represented New York before, who's been a vocal proponent of public financing, and who can give him a run for his money in 2016. We need Hillary Clinton to make a statement now!

America accepts the basic premise that only politicians should go to Washington. As only other politicians are allowed into Washingtons' inner circles, all politicians must necessarily be removed, and we must allow real people a chance to fix our nation before it is too late!. America needs to find 535 good people, provably honest, to travel to Washington and change America for the better, then return home to their lives, as it was in the beginning of the USA. The sequester is just another name for obstruction. The political agendas of our Congressmen should not deter proper and needed legislation to run our Country in the black. The common ground is the welfare of the USA and bickering is no on that agenda.

California is getting ready to strike a blow against Citizens United by passing SB 52, the California DISCLOSE Act, a bill that would shine a bright light on the shadowy interests who depend on secrecy to influence elections. The full Senate just passed it on an overwhelming vote of 28-11. SB 52 (authored by Senators Mark Leno and Jerry Hill, sponsored by the California Clean Money Campaign, and endorsed by over 300 organizations and leaders) would mandate clear and prominent disclosure of who is behind political TV, radio, print, and mass mailer ads - on the ads themselves. SB 52 will stop special interests from hiding behind fake committee names by requiring ads to show their actual original contributors. SB 52 now moves to the Assembly, where Assembly Speaker John Pérez was one of 44 Assembly co-authors of the previous California DISCLOSE Act (AB 1648 authored by then-Assemblymember and now-Congressmember Julia Brownley) that passed the Assembly before running out of time to reach the Senate last August. Our elected officials deserve praise when they stand up for transparency and disclosure as powerful as SB 52, so sign the petition to thank them today!
