Republicans are using the threat of filibuster to delay and prevent nominations to key posts in the Judiciary, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the Labor Relations Board and more. These vacancies allow the minority party to prevent the will of the majority from being implemented.

Gov. Pat McCrory says he wants to rebrand North Carolina. And he’s getting lots of help from hard-line conservatives in the NC General Assembly. We are in danger of becoming known across the nation as the “State of Madness.” There are bills to let cities declare an official religion, allow loaded guns in bars and schools, gut environmental protections, put legislators in charge of women’s health, increase UNC tuition but give vouchers for private academies. . . Already this year, we have new laws that slash unemployment benefits, deny Medicaid coverage for 500,000 poor families, and give a new tax cut for 23 super-millionaires while ending the state’s Earned Income Tax Credit for 900,000 NC families! Here’s the kicker: To make it harder for people to vote and hold officials accountable, there are also bills to cut the Early Voting period in half, ban most weekend voting, tax parents whose kids vote from their college address, require a government photo to vote, end Same-Day Registration during Early Voting, and more. Let's get Congress to focus on proactive legislation!!!!!

During the Clinton impeachment hearings, Robert Byrd referenced the constitution many times; one of Byrd's democratic colleagues spoke next and began his speech by stating (I'm paraphrasing) -- I'm not as well versed as my (esteemed?) colleague when it comes to the United States Constitution... I passed out from the impact of this massive dose of stupidity; when I was able to think again, I thought, why the __ aren't you as well versed as Robert Byrd when it comes to the constitution? How can you be a member of congress and not have a firm grasp on the fundamentals that are in place to guide lawmakers?

Amend the constitution ,limiting senators to two six year terms of office and congressmen to two three year terms. All their finances to be held in a blind trust and any profits derived from their positions are unlawful punishable by removal from office, penalty,fine and imprisonment.

By cutting funding for programs that prevent domestic violence and sexual assault by tens of millions of dollars this year, the arbitrary budget cuts known as “sequestration” are making it harder for vulnerable women to get the help they need. According to one senator’s projections, more than 70,000 domestic violence survivors will lose access to recovery programs and shelters that offer a lifeline to women in abusive situations. Tell Congress to fix the sequester by replacing these senseless cuts with a balanced approach to deficit reduction.

There would be no IRS scandal at all if there were no tax exempt (501-C4s) status. There is no reason to pretend these organizations are chartible groups in any way.
