• Welfare Reform for All States
All states need to follow Florida's lead on welfare. Not only should they have to pass drug tests, I suggest additional barriers to make sure that going to work is an easier option. - only support up to a maximium of (2) children. - must be US citizen before they can apply - supplement those who get low paying jobs and are trying to get out. - set maximum limits on Utility Bills

  • No Budget? No Pay!
There is a bill in the House called the No Budget, No Pay act, which demands that congress must pass a budget and all 12 appropriations bills by October 1 of each fiscal year or they don't get paid. Congress drags it's collective feet every year and delivers a budget usually 6 months or later. If you failed to do your job, how long until you'd find yourself without an income?

  • Needed- $14 Dollars from every Obama Voter
A call to all who voted for the president in 08 to send in a modest donation of $14.00 to the Obama campaign -sixty-eight million voted for the President in 08! That would level the playing field for a game to important to loose! I'm very concerned that the office of the presidency is up for sale. If it is the American People should be the ones to pay the price..

  • Set Pay and Term limits for Congress and Senate
It is well know now that people of Congress and the Senate get paid $300,000.00 a year. Moreover, if they step down. They continue to get that pay check for the rest of their life. If they die, their spouse gets the income. This is just giving billions in American Tax Dollars to pay for private contractors to protect them from us, to pay for their vacations with the rest of the elite in the world, and to fly them on private jets rather than have them use the same air lines as the rest of the population. Once a person leaves a job, their paycheck stops; as well as. their insurance. The ability to serve in these institutions should not be reserved for nobility, but any American with ability to get the job done. If we are to fix the waste of our Tax dollars, it has to start with what our leaders get paid, and how they use Taxes for personal gain rather then the good of the republic. We need a healthy democratcy, not just one for the privileged few.

  • Truth in politics
Members of the house and senate frequently lie, or make up 'facts" to promote a policy or law they are trying to pass for a special interest group of financial supporter, or to defeat a law they oppose for personal reasons.

  • ASK WHY NOT
I am a NYC based human rights attorney who has decided to try to get on the November ballot as an independent in New York State's 12th congressional district. While gathering signatures in Astoria today someone told me about MoveOn. I believe the two party system is gridlocked and more individuals, i.e., independents, need to take risks and run for office since our government is only as good as we are. ASK WHY NOT is concerned with bringing independents into the political system, reforming our federal election process and zealously addressing our budget deficits and national debt. I am looking for like-minded volunteers, critical thinkers and doers.

  • NO to NY Legislators' proposed pay raise
NYS Legislators think that they can vote in a pay raise for themselves in Dec. 1012 for 2013 and no one will care. Their pay is already high at $79,000 for a part time job. They need to ask their constituents if they deserve a pay raise, not just give themselves one.

  • Separate Commercial Banks from Investment Banking-Again
Our present financial crisis is rooted in the revocation of Glass-Steingold Act of 1933 which mandated the separation of commercial and investment banks and created an environment for investment banks to become involved in high-risk, unprotected behavior without the controls that commercial banks operate under. Lobbyist slowly chipped away this Law, over the last 70 years, removing its last provision under Clinton; the separation of Commercial (Local savings and loans) from Investment banking (Wall Street, basically-gambling). The results, we and other countries' governments (the people) are held hostage, bank's profits are privatized, big bonuses paid but, their losses are socialized. This is like your neighbor going, Las Vegas to gamble. But instead of using their money, they place bets using your family's checking and savings, your home, any and all retirement income AND; they loose it all, saying "I'm just playing by the Rules, I can do that, but you can't. It's just too complicated for you to understand." Change the Rules: Separate Commercial Banks from Investment Banking-Again
