A large percentage of "Beltway" lobbyists consists of former Congressional members and former presidential administration employees. Once these folks serve the needs of the electorate (hopefully), they are equipped to seek a new vocation as a paid lobbyist.

It's time to hold organizations with tax exemption status accountable. Organizations with tax exemption are using those dollars to undermine how our government should work depriving citizens of equal access to healthcare, equal opportunity, and marriage equalilty.

Money from big business buys all our elected officials. Let's stop that with campaign finance reform now. No more big money buying votes. No more professional lobbying in Washington.

Grover Norquist is not an elected official, and he's not a political appointee. Republicans fear him and his organization, Americans For Tax Reform. They have signed The Pledge. The Pledge is forever. Grover will not allow them to UNSIGN The Pledge. American citizens did not sign The Pledge. Most of us do not even know about it, but we are adversely affected by it. The Pledge leaves no room for compromise. Without compromise, there is no democracy.

We need to pass a bill that makes it illegal to be a congressman/woman and to: 1. accept campaign funds (conflict of interest or bribery) 2. participate in insider trading.

We have been trying to reach Rep. Coffman and give him the opportunity to tell us how he will represent us -- the 99% of his constituents who are not part of the wealthiest 1%. We have called his local constituent office and his D.C. office.  We have tried to reach Rep. Coffman at places across his district.  But we haven’t had any luck tracking him down. We have made ourselves available to him. Now it's his turn to make himself available to us -- his constituents. Specifically, we want Rep. Coffman to host a Town Hall in Aurora this June. This would allow current and prospective constituents to know what kind of representative he is and what kind of representative he will be for all of Colorado’s 6th Congressional District. This petition calls upon our governments, business, media, and us to address the really important issues--political, economic, social, and environmental--of our time. Without the serious involvement of all of us, life for future generations will be dismal.
