• Congressional Reform Act of 2011
Warren Buffet: "I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971...before computers, e-mail, cell phones, etc. Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure. Warren Buffet is asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise. In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

  • End Corporate influence in US Govt AMMENDMENT
End all corporate donations to candidates. leave donations to the general public. If not possible, leave corporations with a 100 dollar limit on donations max. No Legislation introduced to congress coming from private organizations like ALEC or CPAC or any other organization. NO corporate personhood. An end to "revolving door" phenomena - any public official who wants to leave public job to get a private job in the same field, must wait 10 years to do so. Reverse Citizens United v FEC case. Re-in-statement of Glass-Steingal. Like what Cenk Uygur proposed.

  • Overturn Citizens United
Citizens United was the US Supreme Court's ruling that says corporations have the same rights as people. This means corporations can contribute as much money as they wish to elected officials and causes. This means that corporations have more power than people. This ruling is a direct threat to the future of our democracy.

  • Money is not free speech
Support a federal amendment declaring that money is not a form of free speech! This is the only way to overturn the Supreme Court case Citizens United, and thus the only way to remove unlimited donations to political campaigns.

  • I support #Occupy Maine and the 99%
As the top 1% decides public policy for the bottom 99%, the Middle Class is being squeezed dry. Working Americans are being pitted against other working Americans in the hope no one will notice where the real problem stems from. It's time we all stand united for the 99%.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011
Warren Buffett, in a recent interview with CNBC, offers one of the best quotes about the debt ceiling:"I could end the deficit in 5 minutes," he told CNBC. "You just pass a law that says that anytime there is a deficit of more than 3% of GDP, all sitting members of Congress are ineligible for re-election. I propose congressional reform to to insure that all citizens are, indeed, created equal.

  • Congressional Reform Act of 2011
The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, who would represent the American citizenry without regard for personal gain nor in making their service a long term career position. Instead, those serving have created safety nets for themselves that average americans are not entitled to such as pay increases, a separate health care system for themselves, tenured pension pay, and they have established rules to protect themselves from the "everyday" laws imposed on all citizens. They should derive no greater benefit from service than that delivered to American citizens by the government.

  • Reduce Government Spending.
Spending needs to stop on agricultural subsidies, corporate welfare, and tax credits for favored industries. Excessive Government spending reduces labor force participation, increases unemployment, and reduces productivity. Agricultural subsidies is when the government funds farmers. They give crop incentives and control cost. Corporate welfare is basically financial aide for large corporations. This including three major business benefits that come in the forms of special tax breaks, trade policies, and spending programs. Tax breaks are special tax benefits for certain industries/situations. Trade policies regulate the direction and regulation of trade throughout the world. Spending programs are now 125 separate programs to subsidies to particular industries and firms and that the price tag exceeds $85 billion per year. Cutting funding will force businesses to get off their annual goal of $85 billion a year. Being able to trade for supplies while creating jobs to create different new cheaper products. This will also cut the amount of taxes that have been heightened because of these expenditures. Even though the ideals in Washington states that the United States needs an even closer alliance between business and politics, the reality is that both government and the marketplace would work better if they kept a healthy distance from each other. Right now the government is almost 15 trillion dollars in debt. This money is borrowed from other countries. If something doesn't change everyone in America will learn this the hard way.

  • PUBLIC FINANCING
Our Democracy has become threatened by corporate, PAC, and lobbyist undue influence on elections and politicians. The only way to restore a true democracy is to have our political leaders free from the influence of money to support their campaigns. It is time for Public Financing of elections, without loopholes.
