• Tell the Senate: Pass Universal Background Checks for All Gun Purchases
Did you know that members of the military are required to pass a background check before they're allowed to join the service? The U.S. Senate is getting ready to vote on universal background checks and despite the fact that 92% of Americans support the measure, its passage remains in doubt. I had to pass a background check to carry a weapon in Iraq, and we should require the same of people who want to carry one at home. We only have a few days to demonstrate the overwhelming support this issue enjoys. Thousands of veterans with VoteVets.org have already signed a petition on this issue. Will you add your name to theirs today? We'll have a veteran deliver your message to the U.S. Senate before the vote.

  • Save American Lives:
A good example of how insidious the NRA actions have been, may be best demonstrated by the TIHART amendment. As a result of the TIHART amendment, the American people are not privy to the information available in the ATF's [alcohol, tobacco and firearms agency] records. As a result, the American people cannot become aware of the data that clearly shows that the NRA is hiding the real facts so that the firearms industry and their lobbyists can prosper. It is NOT most of the NRA members, but an influential few that are killing Americans to pad their own pockets. We are ALL affected by this issue.

  • Medical Malpractice
Defective implanted devices which have a recall but the affected patients are not told by their physicians or through the media until the damage has been done. My bladder neck mesh was recalled in 1999 but lawsuits cannot be filed before the year 2000. PLEASE investigate the FDA's practices as I am now completely disabled after discovering an additional diagnosis of endometrial cancer. Medical device manufacturers need to be held accountable for their malpractice methods that "quietly" pay off those informed affected but neglect to sound the alarm to all their remaining victims. My quality of life has diminished and could be permanently destroyed. No amount of money for pain and suffering could compensate me or my loved ones for at the age of 60, I will never be able to do any substantial work or possibly ever work again.

  • Citizen Action Against Assault Weapons and Clips
Citizens have to take action to end gun violence. We have to demonstrate we are serious to make Congress enact safe gun laws. I petition for millions to sit-in on congress beginning May 6th 2013 until assault weapons and massive bullet clips are banned. Make Congress vote for new gun laws and STOP MAKING WAR on US Citizens.

  • Ammo Control
With the advancement of non lethal ammunition we should push for legislation of live ammo restriction. Non lethal ammunition such as rubber bullets can be used for personal defense of self and home without violating the second amendment. Saving the lives of countless people if we can begin to push for live ammunition to be restricted to just hunters, shooting ranges, special police units(i.e. swat), and the military.

  • Ban Assault Weapons
I have personally experieced a home invasion. It was not an assault weapon. but with a single shot a body can be killed. It is not necessary to blow a body to bits.

  • Firearm Liability Insurance
In light of the recent incident in Connecticut and others involving firearms, I am struck with how little the issue of financial liability is mentioned in the owning, safeguarding and usage of this class of hazardous machines. Instead of the narrative of whether a citizen should have the 2nd Amendment right to own a firearm, and all the political and emotional dialog preventing solutions, I propose a new narrative

  • Gun victim compensation
Car owners are required to register their cars and carry automobile insurance to cover any damages their cars may cause. Guns can be even more deadly. Gun owners should not be treated more favorably than car owners. In the event of death or injury, victims and their families should be compensated through insurance instead of being forced to rely on public assistance
