Nevada does not provide coverage for mental medications for ADD/ADHD, only a narrow list of mental health medications are available.

In April, my daughter was diagnosed as having Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD). Now that she is in kindergarten, she is having difficulties processing the information that is being taught. SPD is not recognized as a disability, and therefore she does not qualify for therapy because insurance companies won't cover it. She also doesn't qualify for an Education Plan in school, which would allow her to succeed, having the necessary accommodations to help her learn.

In the last 25 years and especially after the implementation of the ADA, People are still dying and losing body parts or their scenes like Sight or touch. Please spend more money and more effort to find a cure for autism, help those with it and educate "normals"not to bully those with it. My only child (grown) was born with Aspberger's Syndrome. The Food and Drug Administration is required to classify medical devices into one of three classes. Due to a logical flaw in Form FDA 3429 that existed until July, 2012, certain devices were directed into Class III despite the fact that they don't satisfy the definition of Class III in the law. So far, FDA has failed to acknowledge this problem, which imposes a heavy burden on the makers of such devices.

For the past 5 years i have presented presentations to several banks in the Pitt County/Greenville, NC area, for a loan to construct a Psychaitic Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) for children and adolescent who have mental illness, also serve children or adolescents for whom have been remove from home or a community-base residential setting. The banks explained that we have a great business plan, but can not do this loan at this time. The banks want the SBA guarantee, and another guarantor beside the owners, for the same loan, 15% from the owners, and the $180,000 skin already in the project.. I think this is wrong. The PRTF will be the first in Pitt County. Where is the $46.1 million for small business signed by President Obama in September for North Carolina.

Several children of family members and friends have been afflicted with drug abuse. They started as early as high school and by the time parents found out they were over 18. Current laws do not allow parents to force their children into rehab or to force them to get any kind of help. Parents are completely helpless and no authority or law exists to address this problem. Authorities get involved only if the individual commits a crime. As everyone knows, once a person uses drugs, they lose all sensibility and the ability to think logically. So, it is literally impossible for them to get to a point where they want to or are willing to get help. So, this becomes a completely helpless situation. The afflicted individual will not seek help and the parents have no legal means to force their child to get help. Parents are often left standing by helplessly to see their children distroy their life or die.

My son committed suicide on October 24, 2012. He was 24 years old. There was no funding available for him to see Northwestern Community Services, the only behavioral health organization that helps patients on a need basis to pay in our community We need mental health included in all insurance policies. My husband works for a company that denies any mental health coverage. We can not deny people with mental health issues when statistics state that one out of four Americans have mental health issues and this staggering statistic does not include those that deny any mental health issues and are self-medicating with drugs (prescription or illegal) and alcohol.

A healthy response to the Sandy Hook tragedy. As a Marriage and Family Therapist who has worked for many years with men,  women, and children, I would like to propose a solution that I believe will head off violence at its root.  It involves family therapy.
