  • Mental Health Availability NOW!
I have been patiently waiting for our society to "get around" to dealing with the root cause of most of the gun violence in our country. Enough already, without a mental health safety net nationwide, occurrences like Newtown, CT can only continue.

  • Improve Mental Health Care in the U.S.
With continued killings in our schools by people suffering a mental illness, a preventative and proactive program needs to be implemented, especially in the high schools before another tragedy occurs.

  • stop prescription drug commercials
Drug industries should not be aloud to advertise drugs to the public. All health issues and subsequent issues to treatment should be left up to doctors and patience. Not advertising drugs to consumers who then tell doctors they need this drug which has been advertised over and over.

  • Help Eradicate Mental Illness
The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting is just the latest horror of unmitigated violence against innocent children and adults. If you are for gun control or against, is no longer the issue. The issue is that the state of mental illness care in the United States is deplorable. Please sign this petion to urge The White House and Congress to legislate more preventive and diagnostic measures to help people with mental illness, whom otherwise may take actions into their own hands, as happend today in Connecticut. Please sign this petition.

  • Stop giving social security and medicare to millionaires.
Seniors who have millions of dollars in the bank get social security checks in the mail and free heart surgeries that can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. This loophole should be stopped immediately. One of the most basic reforms for Medicare and Social Security would be means testing. (essentially if you have a million dollars or more in liquid assets, then you should not be eligible for social security or medicare). Todays workers are contributing billions of dollars into social security and medicare and they may never see a penny of that money if the federal government does not reform social security and medicare. Over 20% of the federal budget goes toward social security.Over 10% of the federal budget goes to Medicare. Please sign my petition letting Congress and the President know that you want means testing for Social Security and Medicare.

  • Stop the Blue Shield of California premium hike
As a Blue Shield of California individual policy subscriber, I am concerned that the proposed rate hike will be an unnecessary hardship for the subscribers who need coverage most. As a not-for-profit company sitting on a $3.9 billion surplus, Blue Shield should use some of this surplus to hold down premiums. Their reserves are far above what they are required to maintain for paying future claims.

  • Government Funding for Alcohol Studies for Teens
After having studied the pros and cons of drinking and what would happen if the legal age to drink alcohol dropped to 18 years of age, I have come to the conclusion that the 21 law right now is more of a hinderance than a benefit. I have come to the conclusion that the best way to make sure our nation's youth is responsible with alcohol is to educate them through a yearlong course, which in completion, will allow for purchase of a limited amount of alcohol.

  • Eliminate Food Deserts
It's hard for people to grasp what its like to have no access to healthy foods yet this does exist in areas of Chicago. Areas with this problem are called food deserts and city officials are in a position to do something about it.
