  • Navy veterans denied care for Agent Orange illnesses
Some Navy veterans say they feel like they have been stabbed in the back. Others returned their medals. Of the 400,000 Vietnam Navy veterans sick from Agent Orange in 2008, many doubted they would live long enough to get their medical benefits but wanted to fight anyway because they didn't want their sons and daughters who recently served in Iraq to go through the same thing. The problem started in 2002 when the Veterans Administration limited coverage of Agent Orange exposure to "boots on the ground." How many of the Navy Vietnam veteran Agent Orange survivors alive today will suffer and die from this neglect? The Blue Water Navy Bill HR 3612 was introduced to the US House of Representatives by Democrat US Congressman Lloyd Doggett and 3 other congressmen in Dec of 2011 after a study came out that proved these AMERICANS who served off the coast of Vietnam (and thus did not have "boots on the ground") were exposed to this harmful chemical. Now this bill has over 123 co-sponsors. However, Republican House Speaker, John Boehner, will not bring it up for a vote. A news investigation that aired on Sept 17 2008, ([email protected] ) revealed over 400,000 Navy veterans who served off the coast of Vietnam were dying from exposure to Agent Orange but are not eligible for receiving Veteran medical benefits. This report also referred to a study by the Centers for Disease Control showing cancer incidence rates are actually higher in sailors who served in the Navy than soldiers with boots on the ground during Vietnam. The seawater treatment system on the Navy vessels off the coast of Vietnam did not remove the high levels of Agent Orange. Navy veterans drank, cooked food, bathed, and washed their clothes in water tainted with harmful levels of Agent Orange. To learn more and follow these bills see the Fleet Reserve Association website and the website www.bluewaternavy.org

  • Equality for All
Yes, equality in the type of health insurances, retirement benefits, etc. for all Americans, which iINCLUDES members of Congress......think of all the savings to the public.....this would take a lot of publicity and push to get it through but if there is enough pressure exerted and the public demand is great, who knows, maybe it could happen....some members may rally to the cause!

  • eliminating artificial sweeteners--aspertame
four years ago i was paralyzed and hospitalized for 3 weeks. my doctor now suspects that my overuse of diet products, sodas, sweets, sweet and low, etc., led to the paralysis. there is evidence that these artificial sweeteners attack your nerve endings and also make leisions in your brain. i worked very hard with my physical therapist and was finally able to use a wheelchair, walker and now still have to use a cane. originally i had absolutely NO FEELING from my bust down to my toes (couldn't move at all, not even wriggling my toes). i have regained a little feeling, but still have neuropathy from my knees down to my toes. it is a very painful disease to live with and very debilitating. there is no guarantee that i will ever get better, and worse, my doctor said i could have another episode and maybe this time i wouldn't regain ANY feeling!!! my cardiologist said i have permanent damage to my heart, most likely from a stroke that they think i suffered at the same time. there is a group, headed up my mrs. betty martini, that is working very hard to eliminating this chemical from all our foods. this is a very serious problem for all humans!!!

  • SAVE MEDICARE
I am a retired Federal Employee. My insurance premiums remained the same even though Medicare became the primary provider. Medicare should become a secondary provider, not a primary provider.

  • Reduce chronic disease through good nutrition
The Farm Bill supports producing meat and carbs. Less than 5% goes to growing the fruits and vegetables that prevent obesity, cancer, and heart disease. Our national leaders should support public service commercials and make public statements to encourage people to eat fruits and vegetables, and use the Farm Bill to support farmers who grow foods that make us healthy.

  • Pan-American Insurance Refuses to Cover Life-Saving Cancer Treatment
Keri Blickenstaff Kinsel is a 27 year-old wife, PhD student, teacher, daughter, sister, and step mother. In January 2012 she was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive bone cancer, Ewing's Sarcoma (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ewing's_sarcoma). After months of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation, her doctors have prescribed one final major dose of chemo followed by a bone marrow transplant. They believe this will greatly increase her chances of survival. Her insurance company, Pan-American, has denied coverage due to profit motivations. Pan-American is an insurer with $2.2 Billion dollars in assets and almost $500 Million in annual revenue (http://www.palig.com/about/press_release.aspx?id=94&language=en-us). We think Pan-American can afford Keri's treatment. This petition is to José S. Suquet, Chairman of the Board, President and CEO of Pan-American to over turn Pan-American's decision not to cover Keri Blickenstaff Kinsel's life-saving treatment. Please take a brief moment to sign, and please spread this petition far and wide via email and social media. There have been cases of insurance companies over turning denial of coverage due to people speaking out, and we expect this to be one! Thank you for your time and consideration.

  • No ads for drugs on TV
There are a lot of people in our country influenced by television ads. A 30 or 60 second ad should not be how someone determines what drugs they need. Drug companies should market to doctors - but not to an uneducated public. The "fine print" needs to be printed, not spewed by a fast talking actor in the alloted time during the commercial.

  • Legalize Medical Marijuana, Cannibus.
Marijuana is a healthier cure for depression, pain, etc., than Pharmaceutical Drugs being prescribed today. Too many people are being arrested and jailed for this non violent crime that's over filling our jails and wasting tax payers money.

  • Let's fight for our veterans like they have fought for us
Our veterans are coming home and not giving the right kind of care that they need or just simply being turned away. The result is a high number of overdoses of presciption drugs and suicide.

  • Gov. Jindal: Accept the Medicaid Expansion Program
Thousands of your elderly constituents, poor families, low-income adults, and poor children will be affected immensely by your refusal to accept the Medicaid Expansion Program. I have nieces and nephews who will no longer be able to access medical care due to your irrational decision to balk at the President's plan to help our citizens, those of whom are in the greatest need of assistance. Gov. Jindal you can and should reverse your decision to refuse acceptance of this program.

  • VETERANS OF SOCIAL DISGRACE.
I'm a veteran, I live in charleston south carolina, i'm also a single parent, disabled, and poor. I'm both sad and mad at the way society treats the poor especially veterans, being poor has not stopped me from living a life full of experiencess, friendships, laughter, and love. Being poor has no bearing on intellect, morals, courage, or honor.
