• Legalize cannabis in Louisiana
I'm have the most painful disease known to man and I could get rid of four medications with one legal plant. Disabled people who partake in smoking should not have to feel like a criminal. The prohibition on cannabis needs to end. Anybody with anxiety they give Xanax which when stopped causes seizures and its addicting!!! Wake up and realize there are safer alternatives that are being denied to us over propaganda that the government put out cause of the fiber. Cannabis also is a great strong fiber called "Hemp". But in 36 before the war the oil executives wanted nylon to be the fiber of choice. So instead of natural and stronger we went petroleum and weaker"nylon". This plant is a great medicine and a great fiber to save trees. Please help this state legalize cannabis and tax it like they do tobacco and alcohol.

  • Change the laws of prescribing for pain chronic/intractable pain sufferers
Due to concerns about regulatory scrutiny, physicians need guidance as to what principles should generally be followed when prescribing opioids for chronic or recurrent pain states. Regulators have also expressed a need for guidelines to help them to distinguish legitimate medical practice from questionable practice and to allow them to appropriately concentrate investigative, educational, and disciplinary efforts, while not interfering with legitimate medical care.

  • Return To Play Act
Concussions are one of the most commonly reported injuries in children and adolescents who participate in sports and recreational activities. The federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimate that as many as 3.9 million sports-related and recreation-related concussions occur in the United States each year. A concussion is caused by a blow or motion to the head or body that causes the brain to move rapidly inside the skull. The risk for long-term, chronic cognitive, physical, and emotional symptoms associated with the development of post-concussion syndrome and chronic traumatic encephalopathy, as well as the risk for catastrophic injuries or even death, is significant when a concussion or head injury is not properly recognized, evaluated, and managed. Georgia is one of six states that has not adopted a safe return to play statewide guideline.

  • Stop antibiotics in animal feed
I feel very strongly that no animals should have antibiotics in their food supply because that will affect the health of human beings. This practice must be outlawed.

  • Cap in medical malpractice case
Several states have implemented a cap for the patient suffering from medical malpractices. Even if the damage is severe, patient suffering is scaled by the politicans (who may have never faced any medical malpractice). This is only protecting the interest of the big hospitals. We should change this law.

  • Petition for Oklahoma to Accept Federal Funding to Expand Medicaid
In accordance with the Affordable Care Act, Oklahoma is being offered federal funding that will provide 100% of the cost of expanding the state's existing Medicaid Program for 3 full years. This expansion will enable the state to provide healthcare coverage to up to 190,000 additional Oklahoma citizens who are currently uninsured. After the 3rd year, the amount of federal funds being provided to the state, will be incrementally reduced, until the state is receiving a maximum of 90% of the cost of the Medicaid expansion. At that time, Oklahoma will become responsible for covering the remaining 10% of the remaining expansion costs. Not only will accepting this funding significantly improve the health and the quality of life of many currently uninsured Oklahoma citizens, it will also provide substantial economic benefits for the state, by saving the state millions of dollars in uncompensated healthcare costs, and by creating thousands of new high-paying jobs in healthcare, and related fields, which will generate significant new tax revenues for the state of Oklahoma.

  • Stop Privatizing Medicaid
I am disabled and am constantly denied services from Medicaid that my doctors feel that I need. I have mechanical heart valves and Medicaid refuses to pay for PT/INR checks to monitor my blood thickness due to blood thinners that I have to take for the rest of my life. I also need shots in my knees for crippling arthritis and Medicaid always turn me down. I have a pacemaker and Medicaid paid for a machine to monitor my heart activity but refused to pay for the monthly charge that sends the information to the doctor.

  • Please allow health coverage to people that can't get health insurance!
I am a working citizen of the United States. I am 30. I work for a non profit organization under a grant to decrease the massive dropout rate of our school children. Under the grant, I have no health care coverage. My income is on the moderate to higher end of middle class. However, what I make is ate up by health care expenses. I was born with Diabetes Mellitus Type I. I am insulin dependent. I have been on Blue Cross Blue Shield my entire life until I took this job in 2008. I did not realize I could denied to pay for health insurance out of my own pocket that would eat up my paycheck. I am not sick. I just need normal health insurance that covers all of my medication plus my insulin pump. I am spending roughly $500/month on diabetic supplies just to keep me alive. And now Governor Robert Bentley has decided he won't set up the health care exchange that would keep me supplied with my medicine and not being in the poor house!

  • Protect the victims of hit-and-run
Thousands of people are seriously injured every year in TX by hit-and-run drivers. The current fund to help them is seriously under-funded and taken from court fees of common criminals, who are not the ones causing the problem. This is an external cost of driving that needs to be internalized and brought back to drivers. In my hit-and-run the medical bills alone came to almost $200K, not counting the lost income and pain and suffering that were never compensated.
