Cap in medical malpractice caseSeveral states have implemented a cap for the patient suffering from medical malpractices. Even if the damage is severe, patient suffering is scaled by the politicans (who may have never faced any medical malpractice). This is only protecting the interest of the big hospitals. We should change this law.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Samik Sil

Petition for Oklahoma to Accept Federal Funding to Expand MedicaidIn accordance with the Affordable Care Act, Oklahoma is being offered federal funding that will provide 100% of the cost of expanding the state's existing Medicaid Program for 3 full years. This expansion will enable the state to provide healthcare coverage to up to 190,000 additional Oklahoma citizens who are currently uninsured. After the 3rd year, the amount of federal funds being provided to the state, will be incrementally reduced, until the state is receiving a maximum of 90% of the cost of the Medicaid expansion. At that time, Oklahoma will become responsible for covering the remaining 10% of the remaining expansion costs. Not only will accepting this funding significantly improve the health and the quality of life of many currently uninsured Oklahoma citizens, it will also provide substantial economic benefits for the state, by saving the state millions of dollars in uncompensated healthcare costs, and by creating thousands of new high-paying jobs in healthcare, and related fields, which will generate significant new tax revenues for the state of Oklahoma.8,877 of 9,000 SignaturesCreated by Ginny Webster

Stop Privatizing MedicaidI am disabled and am constantly denied services from Medicaid that my doctors feel that I need. I have mechanical heart valves and Medicaid refuses to pay for PT/INR checks to monitor my blood thickness due to blood thinners that I have to take for the rest of my life. I also need shots in my knees for crippling arthritis and Medicaid always turn me down. I have a pacemaker and Medicaid paid for a machine to monitor my heart activity but refused to pay for the monthly charge that sends the information to the doctor.2 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Dennis Rector

Please allow health coverage to people that can't get health insurance!I am a working citizen of the United States. I am 30. I work for a non profit organization under a grant to decrease the massive dropout rate of our school children. Under the grant, I have no health care coverage. My income is on the moderate to higher end of middle class. However, what I make is ate up by health care expenses. I was born with Diabetes Mellitus Type I. I am insulin dependent. I have been on Blue Cross Blue Shield my entire life until I took this job in 2008. I did not realize I could denied to pay for health insurance out of my own pocket that would eat up my paycheck. I am not sick. I just need normal health insurance that covers all of my medication plus my insulin pump. I am spending roughly $500/month on diabetic supplies just to keep me alive. And now Governor Robert Bentley has decided he won't set up the health care exchange that would keep me supplied with my medicine and not being in the poor house!11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Keri McDaniel

Protect the victims of hit-and-runThousands of people are seriously injured every year in TX by hit-and-run drivers. The current fund to help them is seriously under-funded and taken from court fees of common criminals, who are not the ones causing the problem. This is an external cost of driving that needs to be internalized and brought back to drivers. In my hit-and-run the medical bills alone came to almost $200K, not counting the lost income and pain and suffering that were never compensated.1 of 100 SignaturesCreated by John Clary

Tell TN House Reps to stand with Gov. Haslam for the creation of state insurance exchangesUnder the federal healthcare overhaul, states are required to setup their own insurance exchanges. Gov. Haslam (R-TN) has stated he supports this, but House Leader Gerald McCormick (R-TN-district 26) has said "this will be a hard sell among rank and file Republicans" and signaled the federal government should take over. Gerald McCormick, and all of these "rank and file Republicans" of whom you speak, stop wasting taxpayers dollars fighting against what the American people have signaled they want. Gerald McCormick and all other legislators of Tennessee who are "rank and file Republicans", get out of the way of Gov. Haslam and do your duty of serving the American People. The Supreme Court has already spoken on this matter. Stand with the President, the American people, and Governor Haslam for the creation of state insurance exchanges.3 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cale Jones

Tell Gov. Haslam (R-TN) to say Yes to State Insurance ExhangesUnder the federal healthcare overhaul, states are required to setup their own insurance exchanges. Ordinary folks, you need to get on the phone and call your state representative in your district and tell them you support the Affordable Care Act and the creation of state insurance exchanges. This is an attempt to challenge the federal law on the Affordable Care Act, which was already decided in the Supreme Court. Governor Haslam, stand up to these "rank and file Republicans" for what Americans have clearly said they are in favor of. People should also find out who their local legislator is and call their office. You can find out what your district is here: http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/5 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Cale Jones

FIBROMYALGIA PATIENTS are often labeled as “drug seekers”Pain is a major driver for visits to physicians, a major reason for taking medications, a major cause of disability, and a key factor in quality of life and productivity. Given the burden of pain in human lives, dollars, and social consequences, relieving pain should be a national priority. All signatures and comments will be presented to media sources and legislators to help give this agenda the urgent attention it so desperately needs.11 of 100 SignaturesCreated by STACY J. HALL

Save injured workers from insidious Worker's Comp systemsEverybody knows somebody who has been hurt or injured on the job, but few people realize (or care about) the gross inequities, pain, and difficulties getting good health care faced by people who are injured at work. I developed asthma and other allergic health issues from working in a school administrative site – an old, wooden portable that had rusted iron beams in the walls and ceiling. We had been, unknowingly, inhaling fine iron rust powders for years, along with molds and other substances. Sick buildings, usually the product of poor maintenance by employers, causes physical, economical, emotional and career damage to many thousands of hard-working, dedicated people annually. Work-related illnesses cause loss of production, economic family hardship and mental and physical waste. Many people give up in fear for their job or do not report injuries at work, unless they are obvious. The Worker's Comp posters in work locations are not worth - for the truly injured worker - the paper they are printed on! Those posters largely represent a farce. Ask any woman or man who has been injured at work. America needs not only universal health care as proposed by President Obama, but a guaranteed, universal health care system for injured workers that is NOT controlled by the employer and the insurance company (a.k.a. carrier) whose main concerns are keeping claims down and injured workers quiet. Teachers, firemen, office-workers, medical staff, restaurant workers, and everyone who works for someone else are at risk of entering this dark, insidious Worker's Compensation system. I'm calling on all injured workers who have found themselves in this toxic mire of pain and paperwork to unite and speak out. I am asking President Obama to stand up for injured workers around this country and to create protective laws and a universal health/legal system of excellence to treat and protect injured workers. We are women and men who were struggling in this economy to provide for our families, then, an injury at work or on the job threw us into the dark, insidious, unfair, health and legal system of the Workers Compensation system. My petition starts with President Obama because he cares. The U.S. House (Republicans) tend to support only businesses and they do not care about the welfare or injuries of workers. I have never written a petition like this before. Thank you. Michelle D. 11/10/2012. Florida46 of 100 SignaturesCreated by Michelle Dreseris
