  • Gun Trigger Locks
All fire arms should be required to have trigger locks. After all these senseless shootings, it should be the easiest law to enact. Automobiles all require seat belts, and drivers and passengers are required by law to wear them. Need I say more?

  • Gun Control and Laws
I live in Birmingham and have seen the results of gun violence here. In my own neighborhood, two teens fought over a gun and a brother accidentally killed his own sister. Guns in teenagers hands must stop!

  • Ban Assault Weapons from Our Communities
In 2006, my son shot his stepfather in the head, then shot his mother twice in the heart, then shot himself five days later, placing the barrel of the collapsible AK 47 between his lips after returning to my home where he had grown up. As well as the human deaths and trauma to the community, it cost tax payers of New Mexico enormous sums of money for the manhunt that ensued with SWAT teams, packs of dogs and helicopters after the initial killings took place. America has the highest rate of gun related deaths per capita of any industrialized country in the modern world. The frequency of mass killings in our country has been increasing dramatically, often involving assault weapons. Of the 30,470 firearm-related deaths in the United States in 2010, 19,392 (63.6%) were suicide deaths, and 11,078 (36.4%) homicide deaths. (National Center for Health Statistics, CDC. 2010)

  • Charles Scott: Stop allowing dogs to be kept on a chain for life!
Allowing dog owners to keep their pet on a chain for life is condoning animal abuse. Time limits, weather condition parameters, and more spacific adequate shelter laws need to be put in place in order to prevent this abuse. Wyoming's abuse laws are lacking and are the worst in the nation. There are several states which already have these laws in place and Wyoming abuse laws need to be updated.

  • End The Prohibition: Legalize Marijuana Federally
Dear MoveOn.org Supporter: End the Prohibition of medically prescribed marijuana and also the using of marijuana recreationally. The only effect the "War On Drugs' has, as far as pot is concerned, is to keep an increasingly vicious group of drug criminals and their international banking cohorts, also criminals, in ridiculous wealth and power to corrupt the political systems of the world even more every day. People will get pot if they want it, just as they did alcoholic beverages 90 or 100 years ago, and all that money could be accruing to the US Treasury, from taxes and direct sales, where it is obviously direly needed (instead of wasting more money on a futile and humanly destructive additional war). This is the one federal policy area where I can not agree with the rationale of the President, whatever that is, because I have asked President Obama and his staff to let me know what the rationale could possibly be for so regressive a policy) in three letters, over the last six months, and I have had no response from anyone. I am a strong supporter of the President in most other areas, and he did answer me personally when, in previous months, I advocated his landslide reelection publicly. I still hope he will do so on this important issue as well. My personal involvement in this issue involves my father's glaucoma some years ago, I have also suggested, if he is generally against smoking for health reasons, that he allow marijuana consumption in the liquid form known as "cannabinol." Public attitudes are obviously changing, witness the surprising reversals in Colorado and Washington states, where marijuana was decriminalized even for recreational uses, as well as prescribed medical ones. Ask him to explain what he hopes to gain. Terry Alden Cupertino, California January 22, 2013

  • Constitutional Amendment for Real Gun Reform
The only effective solution to gun violence in the United States is a new amendment. Gun control laws have been impotent in curbing the violence for three primary reasons; 1) interpretation of the constitution limits implementation. 2) well intended laws have been subverted by the gun advocates.
