  • waste and fraud
too many people who are not in need of public assistance are getting ebt cards for food and/or money. you see them at the market using the ebt card, then hop into a new car. more investigators are needed to crack down on fraud. drug testing should also be mandated, as you have to be tested to get a job, why not ebt cards?

  • No Questions Asked Gun Buy
The shootings that take place repeatedly in our country have to stop. Every gun eliminated from the street supply, makes every where in the country that much safer. If a no questions asked guns for groceries worked in LA, and it did, every state and every county and municipality should do it! Some states would never decide to do it. Local federal law enforcement should make this program an ongoing process available every day the office is opened.

  • Media Petitioned to Report Daily Gun Deaths
An estimated 34 gun deaths occur daily in the United States. These thousands of deaths a year include many innocent children. Unlike the tragedy in Newtown, CT, they go largely unreported by our national media. In order to provide greater balance in the current public debate of guns and proposed gun regulations, we believe the media should give a regular and periodic report providing the name and age of the victims.

  • Property Valuation for Taxation
Property valuation for taxation, by the Island County Assessor's Office, is very inaccurate, violates WA Statutes, and doesn't follow industry accepted appraisal practices. It also demonstrates favoritism (and the opposite if one dares to fight the system). I purchased a pacel for 50% of the Assessed valuation due to severe eagle encumbrance. I couldn't build on 58% of my land, nor clear trees for any view. The Assessor refused to adjust their erroneous, simplistic valuation. The County valuation appeal system is just as corrupted. The State appeal system is only slightly better. When I talk with others, they have similar complaints. The system must be im,proved!

  • New Gun Control Liability Insurance law
I urge the President and congress to pass a new law that requires all gun purchasers to acquire liability insurance. We require licensed drivers to have automobile liability insurance, why not gun owners? Both cars and guns kill people, therefore insurance would add a sense of responsibility to owning a fire arm.

  • Tell Defazio to come out strongly for gun control.
Rep. Peter Defazio has consistently voted against an assault weapons ban and other gun control measures like handgun registration and trigger locks. The Newtown massacre should have finally shown this otherwise smart and liberal congressperson that it is time to act, and act decisively to protect all Americans from the onslaught of senseless violence that has taken so many lives, but it has not. Defazio will only say it is time to begin a "national dialogue" on violence. Let's tell him that this is not enough - and there will be a consequence if he does not take a strong lead in helping us to end gun violence.
