• Tell Congress: No war in Mexico!
Unhinged MAGA Republicans want to go to war with Mexico. I wish I was joking, but unfortunately, it’s true.1 Reps. Dan Crenshaw (R-Texas) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) introduced a bill to authorize military use of force against Mexico2, similar to use of force laws used against Afghanistan and Iraq. Mexico isn’t just our neighbor to the south, they’re also our closest trading partner. A MAGA war against Mexico is as dangerous as it is potentially disastrous. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to reject MAGA plans to go to war against Mexico! I can’t even believe I’m writing this, but earlier this year Trump asked military advisers to draw up “battle plans” against Mexico, including dropping bombs.3 If the US attacks Mexico like this, how will any other country on the international stage trust us or take us seriously in the future? Also, let’s not forget that the US is already sinking millions of tax dollars into the “War on Drugs” and it’s not working. We’ve destabilized Latin American democracies, creating environments ripe for human rights abuses and government corruption, which only strengthens the drug cartels we’re fighting against. Bombing Mexico won’t end the “War on Drugs,” anyone with common sense can see that. Unfortunately MAGA extremists aren’t interested in reason or real, fact-based solutions to address the addiction crisis in America. When Trump says “bombs” they fall in line. That’s why we have to stop this dead in its tracks. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to reject MAGA plans to bomb Mexico! Sources: 1. • Make it easier to repurpose office buildings into affordable housing!
The United States is in a housing crisis, leaving 7.3 million low-income renters nationwide without access to affordable housing, according to the National Low Income Housing Coalition. This crisis disproportionately affects marginalized communities of Black, Indigenous, and Latinx renters, as well as women, LGBTQ+ people, and people with disabilities. Addressing this crisis is a matter of justice and equity. Why repurpose empty office buildings? It isn’t just about convenience, it’s also about sustainability. Construction accounts for 11% of global carbon emissions. By repurposing office buildings into affordable housing, we can ensure millions of Americans access the housing they need while reducing the strain construction puts on the environment. The power of change lies in legislative action! Cities and states can pass legislation to reduce the barriers to converting office buildings into affordable housing, including streamlining permitting processes, revising zoning laws, establishing tax exemptions and abatements, and creating funding and grants to drive and incentivize conversions.

  • Orlando Magic: Stop donating money to support Ron DeSantis!
Just this year, Republicans, led by Governor DeSantis in Florida, have passed horrifying legislation that targets, attacks, and undermines the rights of Black, Indigenous, and Latinx communities as well as immigrants, queer people, trans and nonbinary people, and women. Florida is no longer safe for many of these communities. Last year, DeSantis used over $600,000 in taxpayer dollars to lure 50 Venezuelan asylum seekers onto a flight to Martha’s Vineyard, Massachusetts. Families, including children, were transported across state lines under false pretenses. DeSantis signed the “Don’t Say Gay” bill into law and extended it through 12th grade. He blocked an African American studies AP course for students. He signed violent anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-trans legislation into law. And most recently, Florida’s Board of Education approved new guidelines that claim that Black people benefited from slavery. It is absolutely repugnant, and unsurprisingly, when there was backlash, Ron DeSantis doubled down and defended those guidelines. DeSantis has abandoned Floridians, focused on his own political gain at the expense of the people he vowed to govern. Under his so-called leadership, Floridians have struggled through an ongoing health care crisis, soaring rent prices, and rising costs of everyday necessities like groceries and utilities. And instead of focusing on providing relief for individuals and families, DeSantis’s priority has been to pass racist, homophobic, and transphobic legislation. There must be consequences for all of the havoc that DeSantis has caused, but instead, the Orlando Magic is fueling his hatred and bigotry, and is bankrolling his campaign at the expense of our most vulnerable communities. If we come together, we can put an end to this and demand that the Orlando Magic commit to not giving DeSantis’s campaign another dollar to advance his dangerous agenda.

  • Defend the Freedom to Read
The attacks on books and on the freedom to learn are calculated to render our histories, our communities, and our families invisible. Through book challenges and bans, the far right is attempting to erase LGBTQ+ people and people of color—and we will not let them succeed. Together, we can make a difference. • ATV/ UTV riding isn’t a crime
To the Hernando county community members it is our right to be able to enjoy our machines on unpaved roads in this community per Florida law. Taking away our rights to ride behind our backs was not only wrong but disrespectful and unconstitutional. They want to blame budget cost on us for damaged roads but we share these roads with other vehicles as well. They have no business using budget cost as an excuse when they have spent 20million dollars on a bicycle bridge nobody wanted in the first place. That is a huge waste of our money! Money that could fix our roads, fund our schools, build a splash pad for our kids, and improved our parks. As far as the individuals that break the laws on these machines are concerned they are the ones that should be held accountable and lose their privileges to ride and should be forced to pay for any damages they cause when operating their machines as they are the responsible party. Law abiding Citizens should never be held accountable for other individuals bad choices. With that said I hope to have your support with your signatures on this form and look forward to seeing our community members riding on the unpaved roads again!

  • Televise Trump's Criminal Trials
Donald Trump and his cronies spread endless lies and misinformation following the 2020 election, which led to the deadly insurrection on January 6. Trump stopped at nothing to try to overturn the 2020 election results and overthrow our government. He is dangerous. He will keep lying to hold on to power, which is why it is important that we, the public, get the transparency that we deserve. Sign this petition to call on the Judicial Conference to approve televising the trials of Donald Trump. Doing so will give all of us the opportunity to see how justice works in our country and can go a long way toward combating the rampant rumors and conspiracy theories that would otherwise be flooding the airwaves and internet. Donald Trump and his allies will attempt to call these trials politically motivated or an abuse of power, but the American people deserve to hear the truth in court themselves. Once again, we urge you to approve televising these historic trials.

  • Induct Sinéad O'Connor into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame!
Sinéad O’Connor released 10 studio albums and her contributions to musical excellence with albums like "The Lion and the Cobra" and "I Do Not Want What I Haven’t Got" are undeniable. Chart toppers like “Nothing Compares 2 U” continue to have cultural and musical relevance decades later. Additionally, her prominence as a political activist challenging the entertainment industry has made her an icon ahead of her time, spurring films like "Nothing Compares" and countless pop culture references. A rising musician in the 1990s, Sinéad O’Connor was blacklisted by the industry for her outspoken political activism against sexual abuse, war, and nationalism. She passed away on July 26, 2023 at the young age of 56. She deserved recognition for her integrity as a musician and an artist while she was alive, and she deserves it now. The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame lacks gender diversity, with only around 60 of its over 700+ inductees women. That’s less than 9%. It’s time more women take their rightful place in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. We can’t allow the bias and discrimination that prevented Sinéad O’Connor from being celebrated in the '90s to continue block her place in history. Demand that Sinéad O’Connor be nominated and voted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as soon as possible!
