• Approve Ketamine to Help Reduce Suicides!
Ketamine works for Major Depressive Disorder, PTSD, Bi-Polar Disorder, and other mental health disorders. It stops suicide cold, in just a few hours. Clinicians have been administering these infusions for many years. It is safe and effective. The initial course of therapy is six infusions over three weeks, and costs up to $500 per infusion. People on Medicare and Medicaid typically have low incomes and many cannot afford the cost because CMS has not approved it for coverage. It is immoral to have Americans resorting to suicide when there is medication therapy that can help! The medication should not be out of reach because of cost. Many other FDA-approved drugs are routinely used off-label and approved by CMS. Ketamine is FDA-approved. Ketamine is safe. Ketamine SAVES LIVES!

  • ENOUGH! STOP THE KILLING, NOW!
Animals matter! New Yorkers care about animals! Thousands of wonderful companion animals suffer in our NYC ACC animal shelters. They are frightened, confined in cages, becoming stressed, falling ill and are unjustly condemned to death. There is little concern for the shelter’s responsibility and for the animals’ right to a safe and loving home. We must demand accountability and change! We must challenge the status quo and demand reform of the failed and dysfunctional NYC ACC. Killing is not the solution! “What is an animal “shelter” that does not protect, care for its own, nor show them respect. What is a “shelter” that treats those that live there as if they had no rights at all. There are many names for a place like this, but a “shelter” it should never be called!” Karen Lyons Kalmenson Below are several typical descriptions, comments and narratives, among many thousands, of animals killed at NYC ACC: June 26, 2022 - Guinness was killed! “June 25, 2022: ‘Happy ray of sunshine’, Guinness #139794, just 2 years old with the 2ND BEST behavior score. Found tied up and abandoned in a park.” May 22, 2022 - Luna was killed “24 months old. She was highly social, seeking attention, wiggly, and excited to greet everyone at the shelter, which is a testament to her personality. Luna loved people she didn't even know.” July 2, 2022 - Rambo was killed “Jun 30 2022- ORDER TO KILL Rambo #146031’s owner was unable to find him a new family, so now he dies in @NYC ACC anytime…a smart 2yo puppy willing to learn. A target to die, HELP!” And Rambo was killed even though at least 2 offers of homes were received. Twitter reactions: * “Still a puppy. What is wrong with @GovKathyHochul @NYCMayor Why won't they stop this?? RIP sweet baby, you deserved better.” * “Can nothing be done? It's a total disgrace and shame on New York. What about their reputation - It's becoming known throughout the country! Uncaring killers!” * “This breaks my heart. 2 years old. RIP Rambo. You didn’t have a chance at that place.” New Yorkers are fed up with the lack of concern demonstrated by elected officials and their appointees. We care about animals and WE VOTE! Please join us as caring New Yorkers in urging Mayor Adams and the NYC Council to TAKE ACTION NOW!

  • We Need an Anti-Price Gouging Law in Maryland NOW!
On June 11th, 11 churches joined together to provide $25,000 in free gas in Prince George's County to provide direct aid to the community. Organizers were discouraged to learn that Sunoco Gas Station on Marlboro Pike increased the price per gallon by 10 cents during the event- and immediately lowered the price after. Currently, in Laurel, MD residents are receiving rent increases from $400.00 - $1600.00 as well as parking fees of varying amounts depending on rental seniority & Schweb Partners LLC based in Jackson, NJ claims this is market value for their units. Blatant exploitation and price gouging are unacceptable when our community is struggling to make ends meet, Maryland needs explicit anti-price gouging legislation to protect our citizens from industry greed.

  • ALLOW CANNABIS LOUNGES IN DOWNTOWN DOVER
    1. consumption lounges: these are essential to the community, having a safe place to medicate and socialize with other cannabis enthusiast and patients is priceless and it should be enjoyed right here in the "impact zone". Not everyone is able to medicate at there homes for many reasons landlords, apartment buildings ect.. some do not have a place to use their cannabis or have anyone to educate them on how to safely and properly consume. Having a safe place to partake off the streets would benefit many in the community. The state allows for comsuption lounges and as a impacted community we should be taking full advantage of all the new laws. 2. Allow Cannabis stores in Downtown Dover: Cannabis needs to be readily accessible to the people of dover. This would also create more opportunity's to open cannabis stores and create more jobs for dover residents. we should embrace the cannabis culture and integrate is with our diverse downtown. This would bring additional foot traffic to local business and stimulate the economy.

  • Demand the IRS investigate the NRA's non-profit for misappropriation of funds!
Gun control bills, such as H.R.8 and H.R.1446 have passed in the House but stalled in the Senate. This is, in large part, due to the NRA investing millions of dollars to influence lawmakers. The NRA non-profit status allows them to increase profits for the gun industry, at the expense of all of our lives. The mounting evidence against them—in terms of how they handle their non-profit funds—only increases every year. The government works for the people, and the IRS can take action to protect the most vulnerable in our society by investigating the NRA for misappropriation of funds.

  • NY State can lead the way NOW to stopping global deforestation!
If it passes, the NY Deforestation-free Bill can protect some of the world's most vital ecosystems, curb deforestation, inspire other states to do the same, and help humanity actually address climate change. Deforestation is a major driver of climate change. It causes 10 to 15 percent of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. What's more, keeping forests standing and promoting reforestation is a key solution to reversing climate chaos. If deforestation were a country, it would be the third largest “country” in terms of emissions. We need to fight for climate solutions on the federal AND the State level, and NY State can lead the way. Bill S.5921 is simple. It would ensure that products New York State buys are not contributing to the deforestation of the earth's most precious forests. If NY pulls this off, it'll be the first State in the US to do so. But NY won't be alone. In fact, the European Union and the United Kingdom are already creating regulations to curb imported deforestation into their jurisdictions. By having NY do the right thing, we can send a message to other countries and companies that they should do the same. Sign our petition to pass a strong law to fight deforestation! Be a forest champion and help save this planet for future generations.

  • End Gun Violence Now!
Authorities have found a 180-page manifesto, authored by the shooter, in which he identifies as a white supremacist and antisemite and describes his intention to attack a Black neighborhood. In his manifesto, the shooter spoke extensively about the “great replacement theory,” which asserts that white people are being driven out and replaced by nonwhite people in Western societies. This theory is just white supremacy by a different name. At its core, it's a justification for anti-Black ideology that is as old as our country and has been used to rationalize slavery, Jim Crow, segregation, our carceral state, and more. We need to be direct about it and call it what it is: It’s racism. It’s white supremacy. It’s gun violence. All of which are brutal, great dangers to our communities, especially Black communities, Indigenous communities, and communities of color. It’s time to end gun violence now. One of the ways forward is to address the root causes of gun violence, because these dangers are not new. Since America’s colonial beginning, white people with power have used guns to colonize, enslave, and commit genocide against Black people, Indigenous people, and people of color.  The gun violence that we continue to experience day after day in America is very much rooted in our nation's history of violent white supremacy. This is why we must stay committed to fighting back against these ideologies. Together, we can imagine and build a world free from white supremacy, gun violence, police violence, and so much more.

  • We The People!!
I implore all Americans to stand up, be heard & do something to help better your life & the lives of all those around you! If we don’t speak up NOW, there will never be change… We have the power to change the world, right the wrongs, unlock the chains of injustice & demand a better quality of life! Change starts with you! Your voice matters! You CAN make a difference! Stand with me in pleading… no, DEMANDING more from our government! We demand more assistance to climb our way out of poverty! We demand our government to respect & hear the people! We demand a better quality of life for our children! And lastly, we demand action from our government! If change doesn’t happen NOW, I fear those people who feel frustrated & unheard will begin to revolt. We do NOT need a revolution, we need a resolution… When parents go hungry so their children do not, you know there is something inherently wrong with the system. When the people are scared to seek medical help because of the outrageously high costs, there is something inherently wrong with the system. When a parent has to choose between working just to pay daycare or staying home to raise their children and not being able to pay rent, there is something inherently wrong with the system. We are not asking for a handout, we are asking for a leg up! I implore you to take these words seriously. For if you don’t, the people may rise up to seek justice themselves. We will no longer stand by and go unheard and unseen. We will shout from the rooftops until change happens! I will stand up for what is right, even if I have to stand alone…

  • Don’t Cut Nurse Health Benefits During Strike
Nurses have gone above and beyond to keep the Stanford hospitals running through the pandemic and to maintain the world-class care that has built the hospitals’ reputations. In the face of a staffing crisis, unprecedented case loads and extremely high patient acuity, Nurses have continued to pour our hearts into helping our patients. Since January, we have put forward proposals in contract bargaining to address serious issues and create a sustainable workplace for Nurses at Stanford’s adult and children’s hospitals, but management just keeps saying no to many of our demands. Even after working with a federal mediator after our contracts expired on March 31, we were unable to reach a fair agreement. The hospitals have refused to acknowledge the understaffing that makes our work so hard. We are fighting to recruit more Nurses, reward the Nurses are working in the critical care areas, allow Nurses to take time to rest and recover, and to get meaningful mental health resources to Nurses who need them. When we could not get these basic commitments from the hospitals, more than 93 percent of eligible Nurses voted to authorize a strike. Now, the hospital executives are trying to use our health benefits as a weapon to break our resolve and prevent the strike. This decision is cruel and immoral. Health benefits should not be used against workers, and especially against the very health care professionals who have made Stanford a world-class health system. Please stand with Nurses and demand that the CEOs David Entwistle and Paul King immediately reverse this decision and pledge to maintain our benefits while we work to reach an agreement. Colleen Borges, pediatric oncology Nurse at Lucile Packard and CRONA president Kathy Stormberg, radiology Nurse at Stanford and CRONA vice president Eileen Pachkofsky, pediatric oncology Nurse at Lucile Packard and CRONA vice president
